Looks like all of that 35th anniversary buildup was for fucking nothing.
Now I've been imaging that if I ever get myself a Guard army, it would be DKoK, based around getting a bunch of that spiffy multi-part Kill Team set and using them along with other conversion works in place of every Cadian soldier. With this big Cadian refresh and all of these nice new models, however, I can't but now think of throwing out that whole idea. Curiously, one related remark made by the presenters is the notion of Guard armies being comprised of different distinct regiments, providing lore-justification for players to run units like the DKoK Veteran Guardsmen squad alongside regular Cadians. I personally don't like the sound of that, but it makes sense for regular Guard players who just want the flexibility of running any of the Guard kits in their armies without fuss.
Now I was wondering whether or not the continuing Guard tank kits are going to get a new accessory sprue with tank commanders to match the new style, but upon investigating, I don't think that's likely the case since it appears that all of the current tank commanders are jumbled in with the unique sprues of each tank type.
Now it looks as if we're having another campaign to lead up to the next edition, but the notion of having a new cityspacefight rules subset has me puzzled. It seems like something that's going to be completely tossed out a year from now upon a new edition, and rules bloat is already one of the biggest complaints about 9th.
