I'm not holding my breath either but Cavill really is a massive autist, he told Netflix to fuck off and left The Witcher series despite Geralt being a dream role for him because the showrunners and writers kept shitting all over the source material.

40k is the other franchise he's well known to be a turboautist for, so him and his hollywood exec girlfriend being involved and them presumably having some level of creative control is the only reason I'm not immediately thinking it's going to be shit.

Very late, but I finally listened to the first AoS Gotrek novel (after learning it's specifically an audio production rather than an audiobook).
I liked it, Gotrek is pretty awesome, all the actors are hamming it up and you feel they enjoy the performance, and even stuff like Zulu-esque faction works well without slipping into current year traps. The things I didn't like is the weird ass names for everything and how it's hard to make out what's being said in some of the more hectic scenes.

Besides that, Gotrek pretty much talks in that 4 hours more than he did the entire Old World series, and him praising Felix as hero among heroes is extremely heartwarming after seeing the event of the previous books from Felix's perspective, where he doubts Gotrek cares so much about him.

I wonder if it's worth it to get back to the old series, after I leaved it when the quality dropped in Shamanslayer and Zombieslayer, or continue to the AoS material.
Are the later books that bad? I only got to Orcslayer so I was preparing for a massive drop after Giantslayer (and best book in the series so far) since it was Kings last book, but aside from a strange 20 year time skip where nether of them really aged it wasn't as bad as I was expecting.

There is a definite drop in quality after King left, though Shamanslayer was when it went from alright into painfully average, and Zombieslayer was just bad.

Can somebody explain to me the Alpharius memes? Paging @IAmNotAlpharius. Is he Schrodinger's Primarch, or something like that?

Also, rate my basic bro marine squad:
  1. sergeant, pistol/chainsword
  2. Five riflemen
  3. Rocket launcher
  4. Flamer
  5. Grenadier
  6. Powerfist and pistol melee guy
I think I wanna make them Dark Angels.

1. To understand the Alpharius meme, you have to understand that the Alpha Legion has taken the "I'm Spartacus" gimmick to a new level. Not only has Alpharius and his twin, Omegon, have swapped places multiple times throughout the latter days of the Great Crusade and into the Horus Heresy, but many Alpha Legionairres have surgically modified their appearances to resemble their primarchs. Furthermore, the Alpha Legion and/or their primarchs have the ability to transfer the memories, personality, and traits of the primarchs to members of the Legion through the consumption of the primarchs' blood. In other words, a random Alpha Legionairre can BECOME Alpharius (or Omegon) through this method for a brief period of time.
On the table top, there is an Alpha Legion warlord trait called "I Am Alpharius" (look that up on Wahapedia). In 8th edition, there was a stratagem called "We Are Alpharius", but it seems it rules were rolled into the 9th edition of "I Am Alpharius".

2. As long as you are following the squad composition instructions that are listed on the datasheet, you should be fine.

Does anyone have tips on removing annoyingly stuck-on bits and making the parts that get flattened look more authentic? I want to get some outriders for my Black Templars, but they only come in push-fit with a mandatory helmet-off sarge, whose helmet is surgically attached to his hip.

I cannot stand push-fit models, and I don't understand why GW is trying to push them so hard. Good glue costs like ten bucks and you need to glue the damned thing together anyway because it's not actually as push-fit as its made out to be. All it does is make the minis infinitely less customizable. If I'm going to be running more than one squad of these I don't want them all to look identical. They also insist on giving them these weird, distinct mannerisms that make the previous point even worse. Is it better for necrons or other factions where the units are just faceless dudes? Is there something I'm not seeing?

Don't cut it flush, leave some extra bit so you can cut it down slowly to match the rest of the belt or what have you. Then cover the spot with a pistol holster or grenades or a purity sealif you're still unhappy with it.

Propably easier to make and easier to assemble for kids.
I feel like if the average retard kid needs to build models like legos they're not going to have fun with the hobby. Most people I knew who got into 40k as kids built really out there and had fun with the fat that they had no idea with what they were doing. I think if a kid bought a push-fit model they'd be disappointed they don't get to make it their OC, and would throw a fit once their fully primed and painted mini came apart because it turns out you actually do need glue.

Plus if you're young enough that you require push-fit stuff, you're too young to see rape demons fight genocidal space catholics.

I've got a shitty, low-effort one of my own to throw in...

Not only that, but the Alpha Legion were masters of disguise and infiltration, one of them even managing to fool the Raven Guard of all people into thinking he was one of them for a time. Both them and their Primarchs are below-average height, meaning you could be chatting to the actual Alpharius and never know it, or a larger-than-normal AL who is pretending to be Alpharius, or that big-ass human is actually one of the shorter AL and next thing you know he's eating your brains so he can figure out your plans and passwords thanks to the omophagea.

I got the chaos space marine combat patrol and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I'm trying to get to 2000 points for a tournament this summer. I'm going to add two squads of terminators but not sure what else I want to do with it. Any ideas?
Get Rhinos and Helldrake

Since I saw people talking about the Fantasy/AoS novels, earlier, I think it's safe to ask if Mordheim (the boardgame) can be talked about here too, or if it's better to talk about it in another thread?
I bring it up because I managed to snag some WFB plastics (Empire State troop) and it's about enough for a Merc band, yet leaves enough space to get some hired swords if I see it necessary.

Talk away. Mordheim was a pretty cool looking skirmish game but I never got to play it.
