I just got into the hobby. I'm ridiculously impressed with everyone's posting skills!

I'm learning to paint, but I'm printing out terrain left and right.

Glad to see there's a thread here.

if you got a printer just print minis for learning and experiments, the price of resin/pla definitely beats messing up your OG GW MINI DO NOT STEAL and possibly having to strip them.
imo it also lets you focus more on learning since you're not buttclenching the whole time and getting autistic about it because it's a "special" mini.

not meant as a MUH GW post fuck GW tho, that's just my advice whatever system you wanna get into.

Thinking about getting back in 40k. Found a fuckton of 3D print files to get by and just made an Interrogator Chaplain the other day (debating on posting a picture when I get home, or to paint it first). Don't want to pay GW's retarded prices even for the books, so I'll look at ebay.

Anything I should know getting back into it regarding the actual gameplay? Looks like I missed a lot these past couple of years.
>print 2 armies of whatever the fuck looks cool to you
>grab one page rules
>find some unsuspecting victim to play with you (least let him choose the cooler army)
>rules can be explained while setting up, then chug some beers and roll some dice
>enjoy the lore, minis and atmosphere with almost none of GW's bullshit.

This is how my friends and I do any kind of tabletop. The fun is in seeing what retarded decisions we'll make.

I have roughly 25 Grey Knights models to paint and I've decided to start an Iron Hand army too after seeing the dataslate. I'm getting the upcoming Battleforce as a starting point.

Seriously, a fully geared Repulsor is now 220 points and you can stay in the Devastator doctrine the entire game. Add in a supporting techmarine for the +1 to hit and you have all those heavy weapons at BS 2+, rerolling 1s to hit, and with a +1 to AP. It's preposterous and I love it.

They even got a army list for PROPER Squats.

Anyone know how the fw upgrade kits fit onto mark 6? Not keen on buying 20 mk4 just to make 10 head hunters.

One page rules is too simple for me if you want fun do what Lovemachine said and play Horus Heresy.

I do wanna try boarding patrol though.

New Valero video has just dropped. Games Workshop hasn’t signed any deal with amazon yet and only have an agreement in principle

Also Warhammer plus currently has a subscriber number of 150,000. Overall revenue since launch in 2022 is £3,000,000 with an initial cost of £2,400,000. They’ve only made £600,000.00 in profits from the service.

GW have definitely announced the amazon partnership far too early. It seems like they were capitalising on getting Henry Cavil although he could have very well pushed for the announcement as he was named as a producer for the project.

I might've said this in here before but I looked at GW's market cap and other stats a while back and marveled that someone hasn't picked them up on the cheap to milk the IP.

I'm happy that hasn't happened but I'm still surprised.

keep in mind the basic rules are simple for a reason, the full rules have all kinds of variants and extra actions depending what you wanna use. you can make it a lot more complex and crunchy.
outside of that I still rather pick something like battle of antares or even mantic stuff (while they DO want me to sell their minis, it at least feels they put some effort and common sense into their rules, not just treat it as a vehicle to sell plastic). maybe even 5core, but never really looked into it (like his solo/co-op stuff tho).

in the end you gotta settle for what your opponent/friends want to play anyway, but trying to ween them off GW rules (even if they're constantly bitching about it, apparently if you like warhammer as an IP means you HAVE to also use it's rules, and only the latest of course) seems impossible, so I rather start somewhere else before it gets to that point.

I'm not gonna claim any expertise on the subject, but I kinda think it has something to do with GW being a brit bong company and American companies like Amazon, Hasbro, Disney, etc. probably have a lot of SEC paper work to deal with if they where to try to buy GW outright.

After looking at some DK Books, I realized there's a missed opportunity by GW to publish similar books. Who wouldn't want to see cross-sections of a Titan or other vehicles? Those were some of the best parts of those books

This makes me even more sure that they only officially announced the Amazon deal because of the Hollywood Reporter leak.
I totally forgot about that already. It was probably a combo of that and the larger YouTube channels since no other news or entertainment was reporting on it. In fact because of that reason they could have just said nothing and that could have been the end of it.

I'm finally getting around to printing myself a kill team. Chaos Legionnaires are catching my eye the most right now, but I was curious if they're any good or not. I don't know shit about KT balance. I'm getting into Khorne worship but unfortunately I don't have space in my house to store another 1k pt army.

Had an idea: A Harlequin Army painted entirely in different color-shifting paints. Just an absolute explosion of color that shifts every time you move the miniatures.

Bonus: The entire Harlequin lineup is printable, I believe.

That would look amazing if you could pull off.
