Today, I finished Flight of the Eisenstein and started on Fulgrim.

Not sure if I'll get through the latter, because good grief, the Emperor's Children are insufferable. San Francisco has fewer faggots.

These, specifically. They're hard to paint with cause it's not really paint, it's more like varnish with glitter inside.
One could probably make some awesome terrain bits with that as well!

Expected otherwise from the Slaanesh-aligned Legion?
San Francisco will take that as a challange and surprise you.
The only thing worse than the Warp and its spawn: California.

I finally got my box of Imperial State troopers and I'm having fun putting them together. I'm thinking of doing them up as Marienburgers, though one of the bodies has a big two-tailed meteor, so a random Sigmarite Marienburger will stand out. I will upload wip pics once they're all in bases. :D

I got my Legionaries kill team printed. I decided to add armored shoulders after the fact but onwards to priming and painting. Another reason I prefer 3d printing is I can basically kit bash every model so everything is holding the proper gear.

I'm printing a Hive Fleet and a Talons of the Emperor team for some friends. I'll get those up when they're done.

So I'm planning on getting back into tabletop after I finish my candidacy exam in the fall,

Torn between starting an ork army and starting a necron army. Any thoughts?

As the person above said, Necrons are much easier. If you're gonna collect orks, you really need to decide how you're gonna play them thus knowing what models you wanna pick up first.

They’re also much quicker to paint. You could potentially have a small force completed over a weekend using nothing more the a couple spray cans, a dry brush and some texture paint.
You can also buy a cheap air brush if you want to try a glow effect which looks great on Necrons.

Not really, believe it or not. To quote a Sigmarite Priest about the place:
"Worship of the Gods is, for the Wastelander, like everything else in his life — a business deal in which he has every expectation of making a profit. It's little short of blasphemy."
Given that Marienburg used to fall under Imperial dominion there is a small Sigmarite presence there as a result and you could double-down on the comets and hammers and all that and make him look like a man who expects Sigmar's favor just because he's wearing his merch.

The World Eaters combat patrol drop is a suprisingly good deal. Here in bongland you can get a combat patrol for £75 which for 31 models is good. Unlike the Thousand Sons its also a legally fieldable army.

Real interesting that the loyalists in 30k seem to have the most special destroyer squads with the same lore of “the primarch didn’t like them but…”

And like you got the ultramarine ones stealing tech from the death guard, the white scar ones that can perma kill a beings souls, or the space wolf ones being insane for wolf standards

Necrons are far easier to collect this edition, if you like 'crons it's the right moment to go for them.
Exactly, this 9th Edition is the prime time to collect Necrons between Indomitus, starter sets, Imperium Magazine, and everyone trying to offload their unwanted Necron sprues from those on eBay. That's going to peter out when the next edition comes out with a new non-SM star faction (presumably Tyranids). Plus the whole Necron range got a modern refresh and are probably the easiest faction to paint.

Orks got a lot of new models recently, but it feels like only a partial refresh such that I wouldn't be surprised if there's a second wave in the middle of the next edition to finish the job. Unless you specifically want old, smaller Orks to mix with newer bigger ones, some kits you may want to wait for a refresh include multiplart Boyz, Nobz, Tankbustas, Lootas, Burnas, Stormboyz, and maybe even Trukk and Warbikers.

1k friendly ToW game this weekend. My Goffs vs dread-heavy Blood Angels. The boys got in close, WAAAGH'ed and just mopped those bloodsuckers off the table. I had a pair of Deff Dreads in reserve that came in T2 and my opponent conceded then (he'd already lost two Dreads, Dante, a bike chaplain and an outrider squad by this point.).

And I did some cleaning up on my orks.

Still working on them, though. Got a set of Kommandos this weekend to expand my WAAARGH.

Printed out and painted some Obliterators. Sorry if the image is massive btw. Brave on my desktop is being fucky and doesn't even show the post box for me.

Need to get a darker gold to highlight the gold parts as well as a neon green for obvious green parts & eyes. Also, the one on the left has a bit of a defect where it's right leg is higher up in the body than it should be. Gonna make lemonade out of the lemon and want to have him standing on a corpse on its base whenever I print them. If I don't go the corpse route, I'll think of something else.
