Who knew that becoming a Primaris lowers your IQ to sandnigger so you can allahu akbar backblasting your way straight to Gork&Mork

Just when I let Heavy Intercessors impress me and make me like primaris for a bit, they pull this retarded shit.

I can fix this in two seconds:
In Gravis armor, one rocket over each shoulder like a Gundam. Right arm wields the mini onslaught cannon. Fixed and makes better sense all in two seconds.

I'm sure the nearby Mek Bois and Lootas will squee at the idea of having one of these badboys.

They only make sense when I imagine them painted as Angry Marines. Headswaps mandatory, of course.

What even is the point of the primaris, other than "a slightly-different space marine that can beat up your space marine (also, cough up $50 for a new codex)"?

10 millennia long plot by the alpha legion to make the adeptus ministorum all commit mass suicide.

On a serious note it just seems like a lazy way to make people buy the same army they have had for the last decade, and make retarded changes in the lore.

In universe, I get it. Guilliman saw how fucked up the galaxy got while in his coma and how depleted some chapters got, so he found an AdMech magos willing to try new shit. From a player's standpoint, it's just a cash grab by GW. All they had to do was say "let's make the Marine models taller like they're supposed to be, and to keep your old models just put them on another base to account the height change"

And somehow AoS managed to knock it out of the park without having a single reveal involved with sigmarines.

How shitty would it be for GW to dupe new players into investing in this new box for DA and incentivize them to buy more Deathwing models right before 10e potentially drops Primaris Terms?
Can totally see it happening.

The problem is Lore dictates models and characters in 40k existing and since GW shot themselves in the foot with lolsuits creating "no model/no rules", in 10e onwards am I not allowed to use Gabriel Seth or Pedro Kantor anymore since they got rid of them (the models)? Will they be legend'd into obscurity for a few years then eventually they will stop making rules for them alongside with all the other Firstborns? Then what?

I have to drive 1:30 to the nearest GW shop, are they going to ban me for trying to proxy old ass Firstborn for Primaris since shops love to ban people over arbitrary corporate rules?

Apparently Nids are about to get a new facelift (why?) That makes potentially three armies that could be obsolete in the next five years for me and one isn't even painted yet.
No Games Workshop store that wants to stay in business is going to ban you from using models that they no longer sell. They want you using GW models because that’s what they sell. They would rather have you play with an entire army of 1st edition space marines than a 3d printed or recasted army because you would be playing with a GW product. If Gabriel Seth or Pedro Kantor don’t have rules next edition, homebrew it.

They would have you play the current edition because while models may be used across editions, not the same for the rules.

And regarding the Tyranids, their basic troops would need a refresh as I think they are near 20 years old. They won’t invalidate using older models, they will just probably be a bit bigger in size and have more dynamic poses.

Not only am I not allowed to participate in local tournaments, but the local shop has stopped renting tables to my group of friends because we all use 3d printed models to some degree. I can't blame them either, because I'd be more than happy to sell one of their customers a printed model at a significant discount to what the store would charge.

"Warhammer is for everyone!"

ETA: Putting the finishing touches on my first ork squad. As a beginner with next to no artistic talent, I am very happy with how they turned out.

That is some weird shit, the game store I played and took part in local tournaments doesn't mind 3D printed models, long as it fits the scale of the model it's supposed to be for

You should look into a wash. I use Agrax Earthshade, but there's a lot of options out there. It seeps into cracks and adds a lot of shadow and depth to models while making the high points look dirty and "lived in." I like to paint my models the lazy way because I don't want to own 4 different versions of every available color, but I still get results that I'm really happy with. Army Painter literally sells buckets of the stuff so you can dip your models and leave them to dry.

I make washes by watering down just a tiny dot of acrylic, usually black. I didn't really do them on the most recent layers; sometimes I don't get the mixture right, and it ends up just making everything darker.

I used to do that when I painted aircraft models but I find the premade stuff just easier and more cost effective. One bottle goes a lot longer than a similar sized bottle of paint. I can apply it straight from the container without watering it down so there's not as much waste.

Citadel has a few different color options but the earthshade (non gloss) is the one I prefer. It's very universal. I use it as the final coat on sisters, necrons, chaos, ork, etc. The only thing I might consider not using it on would be things that are mostly white or are supposed to be very clean. I have a 24ml bottle and I could probably do at least 6,000 points worth of models with it.

Edit- It looks amazing over things that are supposed to look like bone. I use a mummy yellow from Army Painter and cover it with earthshade and it looks spot on.

I get my paints at Michael's, because I generally refuse to pay Citadel prices.

Interesting. I noticed that "bony" parts like the orks' spines look flat and chalky when I paint them.
