Well The was a small " leak" for The End and the Death and some people are pissed at abnett already
Horus corrupts the custodies with the warp to attack big E when they teleport on to the vengeful spirit.

Most people seem to be ass mad about the custodies being corrupted in the first place as well as all of them being fucking useless while fighting

Fuck Danny boy. That's INSANELY stupid, even for Black Library shit.

The Custodes CANNOT be corrupted. The very idea is fucking retarded. They're not lesser men, they know full well what Chaos is, they're immune. There's a reason none of them are psykers.

Christ, this is to set up the King in Yellow thing he's trying to push, isn't it?

Yeah that's pretty retarded, I'd be okay with Horus incapacitating them with sheer warp fuckery but corrupting the literally incorruptible right next to the Emperor and in only a few moments is just stupid.

The leak that I've seen involves the Alpha Legion.
Ingo Pech was sent to wake up Alpha Legion sleeper agents by using the code word "Xenophon", which would trigger them to act in loyalty to the Emperor. However, a sorceress named Actae learned another code word and woke up some of them using "Orphaeus," which has them "ignore both sides and focus on Chaos itself. To fight it, or seize the means to control it." Like some of you have pointed out links to the King of Yellow from the Bequin series as the King of Yellow is referred as such in that series. This may also explain why there is an Alpha Legionairre in Eisenhorn's retinue.

That is so dumb and badly written, Abnett really has become a bad writer

I think everyone knew there was some twist that was going to happen in the final confronation between Horus and the Emperor, the story has been told so many times that GW definitely thought it would be good to "subvert expectations" or some shit. Not saying it's inherently bad, but Custodes attacking the emperor? That's beyond retarded.
Apparently Rogal Dorn is also potentially corrupted? This was from a Valrak video covering another potential leak, again, it's out of character, so if it's true, it's doubly retarded

Call this retarded, but if they wanted to have a final twist, it should be Sanguinius that turns on the emperor due to falling to the red thirst. He's already had scrapes where he was nearly corrupted, and it could be a reasonable progression that he would fall to the red thirst trying to take down Horus, causing him to lash out at the Emperor too.

From my understanding, Khorne tried to corrupt him as he despaired over the state of the Siege, but failed to do so.

He put a knight in his start pack? Would you mind messaging me the link to his most recent google drive? If not, I'd be happy to trade.
Shoot me a DM later today to remind me, I got the current link open on my desktop and I’ll send it over.

Oh nooooo not my pure golden bois ALFABUSA SAVVVVE ME

They weren’t corrupted they were simply body hijacked. You guys have been doomposting this book for a while but even I see it’s not purely chaos corrupting here.

Abnett is just an idiot SJW who can't write anything about Space marines.

That said, I could see them doing a Ryan Johnson. But even than, if Horus could mind control the Custodes (This gives the GKs a reason to exist, who have been pretty much made obsolete by Custodes and Silent Sisters), I would definately expect the Emperor to undo it instead of going Conan on them.

Like Horus corrupts them, and the Emperor un-corrupts them. The Emperor is stronger than Horus, knows the Custodes better in biology and psychology, and is in a closer proximity.

There is no way he can't break a mind control up close.

He does. He kills the ones that are attacking him but he’s able to relieve the ones that resist the mind control. Unfortunately, a few are so traumatized at the thought of them wanting to kill the Emperor that the Emperor is forced to psychically kill them.

I’ve been working on my necrons again. The gold turned out well considering it’s just two coats of aSepia wash over some highlighted silver

I’m thinking about some osl from the eyes and chest but can’t settle on orange or blue right now.
I'm a fan of that 'old gold' where it almost looks bronzed. Personally think orange would look better on these but blue wouldn't be out of place with the cool tones. I want to print some Roboskellies and Sisters to paint but the limit switch on the printer borked and I'm being a little lazy about replacing/repairing.

That seems less dumb, though I might argue where the fuck where all the SoS if they knowingly teleported on a chaos infested ship, but I know from past lore blanks don't always beat psyker/warp shit and can be overpowered.

Though my real problem with the Cusdodes are no one knows how strong to make them. they are always either one step below a primarch (or even one step above) with 4-5 fending off a full fucking hive fleet, or useless jobbers that are easily mascaraed by a few harlequins or a couple newly possessed word bearers.

Everything and anything in a 40k book is as strong as they need to be for whatever the writer think makes the most dramatic/coolest scene. Named characters get hit with this the worst but that's more or less the gist of it.

I don't know about the Custodes being immune to Chaos. When your toaster can become possessed, nothing is safe. The Custodes are just way more autistically loyal and know about chaos to fall to usual corruption. Though in general insta corruption never makes a lot of sense.

Also Horus in the last book has pretty much carte blanche to use the most bullshit OP warp powers possible considering he should be the strongest being in the setting before the final battle.

Justifying bad writing aside, I'm still putting my money on Horus winning, regretting while half dying and replacing the Emperor on the golden throne. It's just the most obvious twist and re-contextualizes the Imperium.

The Emperor dying would 100% result in him resurrecting, however. Which man, would be an interesting twist for 10th or 11th edition, but, it's not happening.

Na, the real subversion would be that Emps in some of his last moments realizes just how lost his son truly is, and decides to sacrifice not just himself but thirty thousand years of effort and planning to kill him on the desperate, vain chance mankind can get its shit together without his personal intervention and control.

Hope, in other words. And as we all know, hope is merely the first step on the road to disappointment. Hell, if Dan Abnett hadn't become an overrated hack it would be the perfect time to have Oll Persson die his once and only time, his faith and optimism being crushed by Horus the thing that drove Emps over the edge. Not his Custodes who blindly follow him because he created them so, but one man and his dreams and aspirations, one man who has lived as long as the Emperor himself has and seen mankind's ills for good and bad. One man without a fraction of the Emperor's might holding the line against the darkness incarnate because its the right thing to do.
