I want to name these guy and their gang and wanted to take your suggestions preferably one per person but the thread is pretty slow so I'll take whatever, my only request is to keep it mildly clean since I plan to write their names on the rims

Personally my Desolation Marines have grown on me after a while, it still is a shockingly bad design though.

If you're getting into SWolves I hope you like Wolf Guard with their Fang Blades riding Thunderwolf cavalry in a wolf-strike formation led by Jimmy Longclaw (famed wolf-captain of the Black Wolves company)

Those mid disguise paint jobs are cringe and dumb. I'm talking on more the conversion side. Yes I could just buy a diabolist, praevian, or primus medicae. That seems uninspired however.

Ah gotcha I thought you were talking about the color scheme

If you are not opposed try looking at Stormcast models they are about the same size and have some cool bits, I don't know much about alpha legion the only one I have a passing familiarity with is Dark angels and even then it's just because I have a bunch of marines from the two army boxes and decided to paint them as Dark angels

Speaking of conversions I recently got an Arkanaut frigate and plan to convert/proxy it as an Archaeocopter Stratoraptor but so far except for painting it in Stygies colors, removing the dwarfs a maybe the face on the front I'm not sure what to do.

If you're not averse to 3D printed bits, there are some great pieces for 30K kicking around these days. A headswap and some pauldrons is enough for most to make them stand out unless you're going after a specific consul.
 
Last year I went to several local 40k tournaments at all the local clubs in Northwest UK. I also attended the London Grand Tournament, Sheffield and Leicester GTs too. I'm not that competitive, I just like getting games in and I find the local players to be a bit sleep-inducing with their casualness. Overall I enjoyed it despite having some criticisms of the game and balance situation.

After observing probably over a thousand separate 40k players in total I've yet to observe a single biological female in the 40k competitive scene lmao. Although I've seen and played against several trannies. A lot of them really do look like the soyjak meme of the obese, balding and smelly variety too. I wonder if these guys ever feel embarrassed when they walk into a room for this absolute sausage fest of a hobby and the only 'women' to be seen are multiple trannies just like them. I know that trannies are prone to sudden flashes of self-awareness and crippling doubt where they realize how shameful and disgusting they are, so I like to imagine it occurs to them that long after they are dead their 40k collection will identify them to future archeologists as male.

Sometimes you come across nicely painted stuff and it's really nice to know everybody going to bring a fully painted army to the table at these tournies for the +10 VPs

This is part of why all of the kerfuffle over "muh female spess muhreens" should be rejected soundly by everyone else involved in the hobby. Fuck tranny colonization of yet another space in the eye with a rusty shrimp fork.

Yeah I wasn’t impressed either by the those grey knights but most tournaments count base costed + washed as something being painted. Three colours standard doesn’t really cut mustard these days unfortunately and it actually forces hardcore tournament players to actually pick up a brush despite how bad they look.
Honestly though with some silver and gold trim those Grey Knights would look fine. I just wish they at least bothered to paint the librarians face ffs.

I thought hardcore players paid other people to paint their shit for them. Especially players that constantly switch armies to always play the most broken shit. I also thought that was part of GW's business model when it comes to new releases being unbalanced.

First person who makes a 6DoF(ish) airbrush bot is going to make bank from 40k players.

But it won't be for a long time because that's actually expensive to do unlike 3D printers.
 
Well our boy went and crossed the Rubicon! Some rando ordered an old Dante and GWS accidentally sent him one of the new sculpts that they were probably sending out to their partnered painters to get ready for an official announcement. Instead he just paints it and drops it in a discord. He didn't even keep the sprue or instructions. Nice. I'm inclined to believe it's real as the box art looks pretty different from his model and I can't see someone kitbashing 2 customer models, drilling out one barrel but not the other, and then painting one at a lower skill level.

Personal feelings about Primaris as a plotpoint aside, I think it's... decent. The mask is definitely kinda off scale wise, it just looks a bit baby-faced to me. And I don't like the small jump pack either. I'll definitely pick this up and swap those out for better parts. The legs and chest look good and the arms look fine, I also hope this means Primaris Sanguinary Guard are on the menu now.
