Huh.

I was refreshing my Amazon bot I use to catch deep sales and uh.

They raised the price of the Custodes Combat Patrol box. It was $150. Now $160. I know this because it's still marked as $150 retail on Amazon and my watchlist ("More than 15% off") for it is based on $150.

Edit: Looks like they did it last month:

heh. Fucking GW.

They announced a universal price increase for models when 10th edition started being announced. I assume that's to recoup the cost of $50 rule books that are obsolete the day they go on sale.

Tangentially (without a better thread for this), Midwinter Minis just posted a video pearl-clutching over Nazi factions in WW2 tabletop wargames like Bolt Action.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=apOe1XFzcR
Nowhere near as bad as Extra Credits' infamous Nazi video, but the agony on display is still annoying and wildly off-base to explain why historical wargames are not popular. The simple matter is that historical wargames, like scale models, are a niche interest compared to (space) fantasy. For the time and money involved in the tabletop hobby, people generally want something more visually exciting than mundane real-life history.

A couple of big counterpoints against MM's theory immediately comes to mind. First, if Nazi factions were such a big issue, then WW2 wouldn't be the most popular theme by far for historical wargames. Second, WW2-themed multiplayer video games with playable Axis forces (like MM's sponsor World of Warships in this very video) have long been immensely popular without issue. Those like Extra Credits who raise a stink about it are rightfully mocked.

I wonder how much of this voiceover was MM feeling like they have to preemptively apologize to Leftists for painting a panzer. It's astounding that among their brainstormed reasons for "actively collecting an Axis army", it's left unmentioned that German armor and vehicles just look cool.
Holy shit, didn't even know who this faggot was till I ended up watching by happenstance a response video from Mordian Glory (who also seemed pretty faggy in the comments) and then reading through the comments got some deets about Midwinter dropping his wife and newborns like a bad habit for some thot. Is he the standard lefty virtue signaler that does it to get heat off of how much of a horrible human being he is?

Any other moments where he's done something retarded? I'm incredibly curious.

I went to an Open Play night at a local gaming cafe last week. I'm not trying to be conceited when I say I was the only in-shape person there.

They were friendly guys, though. Just a group of neckbeards and skinny twigs. Didn't play at all, because they were in the middle of games and I didn't wanna interrupt. I sat with the spergs who were painting and shot the shit with them.

If I could go back and do it all again, I'd start off with a Combat Patrol. Compare that price with what you'd have to pay if you bought the kits for each of those units individually.

Buy once, cry once.

On an unrelated note, what's a good way to protect models with banners and other sticking-out parts in transit? Mine keep breaking off inside my case. I try to position them in a way that the sticky-out parts lay flat against the foam, but it doesn't always work.

I suck at painting so I'll try and share more of my printing. The models still need cleaned up but I have them assembled and based. The novitiates are for me and the poxwalkers are for a buddy that's building a death guard army. I'll have some pretty good terminator models to share later this week.

Magnetize them so you can disconnect the banners in transit? I mean if they break off anyway...

Consider changing your case to something like this.

You can get a makeup kit box, glue some metal planks and magnetize the bases of your models. I've used cushion cases most of my life but the magnetized box is a lot more secure for the models and prefer using it whenever applicable.

I use a couple of these to store and move my armies around along with magnetized bases to keep them from sliding around on the trays. It's the same sort of thing that @ShitLurker is talking about except it's a bit cheaper than most options. It's typical Chinese flat-pack, but mine have held up pretty well.

i want to make a combat patrol of 2 helvernin and a questor. is that dumb? is it even doable? would i get my shit pushed it?
It's 310 points just for the Helverins. You're not going to fit a 300+ point Questor in with it unless your opponent agrees to more than combat patrol points. You could probably do either 3x Armiger class or 1+1 with a Questor - the former would probably do better, but the latter would be hilarious. Both will probably lose to an army with more boots on the ground though. I like playing my Chaos Knights but they're an interesting challenge at times just because you have so few models.

So apparently we're getting 40k MMORPG. I have been waiting for one for 12 years since this teaser:

Man the nostalgia is like black tar straight into my veins. If I get blueballed again I'll be butthurt. All I ask is to be able to play as a lowly chaos cultist, maybe Blood Pact., it's not too much asked, right?
Boltgun was released yesterday. It's okay but I don't really like the level design.

Duncan of the Two Thin Coats has a guide on making one of those.

Uses a company called "Really Useful Box", the 4 liter size and 9 liter size have A4 footprints so you can use magnet sheets at A4 size.

https://www.amazon.com/Really-Useful-Plastic-Storage-Liters/dp/B000KN4DQ4/ $15 for the 4 liter
https://www.amazon.com/Really-Useful-Products-9L-Clear/dp/B005KAOMSQ/ $18 for the 9 liter (same footprint so they stack)

The manufacturer has a US presence now too, and sell "US versions" of the 4 and 9 liter. I suspect they're not the A4 size however?

US Size:
External: 14 5⁄8" x 10 1⁄4"
Internal: 12 1⁄2" x 8 1⁄2"

UK Size
External dimensions: 39.5 x 25.5
Internal dimensions: 34.8 x 22.0

>NetEase
>Chinese studio

Isn't that bad?

>Jackalope Games, which will focus on the development of PC and mobile titles, will be helmed by industry veteran Jack Emmert, who has previously worked as CEO of Cryptic Studios as well as the head of game development at Daybreak Game Company. Emmert’s resume includes multiple MMO titles, including Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, DC Universe Online, and City of Heroes.

Oh, ok. Not my favorite branch of the MMORPG tree of life, but it's certainly not bad. At least It's not an ARK clone claiming to be a MMORPG or something. So basically we're looking at Neverwinter or City of Heroes with a 40k skin? I'm ok with this.
