How pozzed is Games Workshop ? I’m still very far behind in the lore, but are they adding in “diversity and inclusion” elements ?

It's not very pozzed. ADB likes girlboss characters and he's a flaming libshit on twitter but most black library authors are. It tends not to seep into the lore at least from what I can tell.

Some people were upset with the newish Ursula Creed character but I don't mind her. She's fat and I wouldn't have sex with her but she's a more accurate representative of a high ranking female officer than a girl boss running around with a chainsword soloing Orks.

On their official pics GW tend to make around half of their Human models squad brown but that's also whatever. I haven't seen black eldar or elves but you never know.

Female space marines is the line I think. While ever it holds there's a limit to how much they can subvert.

Plus whenever a troon wants 'representation', you can always point to slaneshi demons and say 'look, it's you'.

I just find it weird that we get her as the new LORD COMMANDER like instant noodles. Like it was a hereditary position. Would have been better to have her as a regular general or colonel for an edition and build her up with time.

Games Workshop has shown how to do the whole diversity and representation thing right by introducing it naturally and where it matters.

They’ve made a conscious effort to show units with an array of skin tones where it would be appropriate. Guardsmen and the new Cities of Sigmar models are painted in different skin tones while the new Bretonnia units are all caucasian. Bretonnians come from a specific region while the former two could be formed from people all across their respective universe.

The same conscious effort is applied to the models. Additional female heads and bodies so you can make single-sex or mixed-sex units.

There are more female and non-white characters in both the models and the lore, but nothing feels shoehorned. A lot of battle-hardened and gruff warriors as befitting the setting but with plenty of backstories and unique traits that could be explored further.

@augment I believe that was a character Graham McNeil wrote and out of all factions, the Ad Mech would be the most likely one to eschew gendered language.

The only author I know that has explicitly included non-binary characters in his stories is Mike Brooks. He’s very “punk”, meaning a modern leftist that looks like he’s still in the 1990s. Though I doubt we will see him do something stupid like introduce a tranny space marine.

I stand corrected.
And like I said, the usual outrage-crew, the same permanent group of men who are on standby 24/7 to wail at the heavens over the latest iteration of bank-driven inclusivity in media were the only ones affected. We're nowhere near Amazon-rings of power levels of backlash yet.

No cap, Why do right wingers like this setting? Especially since the setting shits on things like Organized Religion, Militarism, and Hero Worship. I'm not trying to judge but just wondering

They have catered a little bit to SJWs by adding more female characters and having some melaninated marines, but that's about it. Despite all the shrieking the tourists and ADB does to implement female spess mahrines, GW has held the line about it not happening. This isn't surprising as they infamously dunked on animal rights groups in the past.

So some animal rights faggots got up in arms about the Space Wolves wearing wolf pelts on the models. GW hilariously told them that they would stop having the Space Wolves wear the wolfskins and instead insure that they burn or blast away any flesh on the wolves in lore while increasing the number of models wearing human flesh.

It's the only IRL nerd hobby I have where live events aren't packed the the brim with trannies.

Haven't been to GW's webstore in awhile and needed to pick up some stuff for me and my wife and my god, who the fuck thought that was a good design? Do they want to lose sales? Is doing something like this a write off in the UK? Did they do this to get more people going to their stores? Likely not going to happen here. The store looks like shit. The one in the town over is tiny as fuck I think.

If I recall correctly, in The Lion, Son of the forest some background techpriest that was only mentioned one time got like xir pronouns
Oh I guess I missed that when I listened to the audiobook.

AdMech doing that at least makes sense since they want to leave their fleshiness behind and become machines.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned before but I’ve found this channel interviewing the old designers about the development of warhammer. They have an episode talking to John blanch, another on epic games.
This one is for fantasy battles but right near the end he mentions warhammer historical battles, I’d never heard of that system before, any of y’all know about it?

GW is still one of the few hobby makers that I actually respect because they don't cater to these insane people. Their recruiting of Cavil as an exec was the nail in the coffin of their cause because they knew then he despises them above most but is very controlled about it.

The failing of stuff like the LOTR series too gives me some optimism because of how careful GW is about their trademark. Plus a lot of the books are not too bad either going to grab Leviathon and the Lion book for my trip I think.

I just want cape Tyranid, that thing is magnificent. My army desires it.
