I am looking to get into 3d printing some armies and tried searching around for some free stl files. I figured I'd take a shot in the dark and ask if anyone has found some good free ones to download. Not really looking for anything in particular, just a good library if there's one out there.

Just sent you a zip file with torrent links to just about every model available on the grey market.

Me too, I wish people would've actually bought the models. They do seem like they're gonna be a big deal in the upcoming Old World game.
I'm giving serious thought to starting a Tomb Kings army, especially after seeing that bitchin' croc-dragon model, but by God they'd better have Settra available at some point.

I need clarification on something basic with regards to Space Marines and their factions. Let's say I have two Leviathan boxes worth of Space Marines, a few assorted Space Marine combat patrols of varying factions and then a bunch of random boxes of Space Marine units and squads. For the record, I do not... but it would be a good problem to have.

So I have several boxes of assembled, but unpainted Space Marines. Here is where I stop.

Let's say I want Blood Angels. Can I paint them all red and call them Blood Angels? Is a Blood Angel combat patrol allowed to be painted and played as White Scars? What about Dark Angels? Or can I paint however I want and play them as a different faction as I please providing I am prepared?

Also do other races have this much sub-faction depth?

The 10th edition detatchment system allows you to play any deteatchment (essentially, "playstyle") with any color scheme. Want to do a vehicles heavy Blood Angels list? Paint em red and pick Ironstorm Vanguard as detatchment.

Only big limit that chapters do now is that named characters and certain units (like BA sanguinary guard) are chapter locked and you can't mix and match. So no Deathwing Terminators following Robute into battle.

Of course, those are just the mechanics... can't think of why you can't use a named char with your paint scheme, say he's one of your OC Your Dudes and call it a day as long as rules are respected.

Thank you. More responses are also welcome! The rule book for this game is pretty decent but some important things are buried.
The simplest way I can put it is that certain Space Marines units have specific chapters as keywords and you can't have more than one of tgose keywords in a list. This rule is pretty easy to find but you need to be used to reading Games Workshop rules which is... peculiar sometimes.

As a newbie to the hobby, I also recommend you check the Combat Patrol format and One Page Rules' "Grimdark Future" as easy and less complicated ways to dip your toes into the water. The best Space Marines box (at least value wise) undoubtedly is the Dark Angels one so you might want to check it out!

Cool info. I love this thread.

I'll keep trying to ask game-related questions so you don't have to talk about politics.
Also remember to have fun and not go min-maxing. I fucking love the Captain Messinius model but as a plain Captain with a power fist, he probably works best in Assault Intercessors. Those are pretty mid in game. Do I care? Fuck no. Give their Sarge a power fist, stick them all into a Land Raider Redeemer, and go charge something holding an objective.

If you love a given model or models, find a way to make it work!
