For now, this is a single terrible decision in a long litany of them by GW, but to many this is the first real proof of the rot in the foundation. The response would not have been this aggro if anything about this had been handled well or with care, but as ever, it wasn't, and what makes apparent that actual fans aren't going to be listened to is GW's community management response over the criticism of it.

GW has been moved by shortsighted greed for most of it's lifecycle (and sadly has almost never been punished for it's fuckups). Love it or hate it, there is a clear train of thought to Primaris "marines are our most popular line but everyone has it, how about we refresh the whole thing and eventually invalidate old collecyions in mass?". Or "we need a new faction since orks still sell like shit, and people seem to like dwarfs, lets make some shit up about not squats and see if that gets traction".

The female Custodes on the other hand lacks the usual "how do I monetize this", its listening to faggots bitching at you and throwing a bone without understanding you just gave them a reason to be twice as loud.

So are they going to erase sisters of silence? Or just retcon them into being custodes?

Depends. Being a psychic blank is still a huge boon, but if a custodes can also be a sister of silence, than yeah. They are cooked.

Lets not be melodramatic either. I already had to mention this during the pozzening of D&D, but this is a hobby that involves interacting with people in the real world. It may be easier or harder to find like minded people, but unless your groove is to go to tournaments, you can stick to your circle and enjoy it between yourselfs.

Basically, the only reason you interact with degenerates is because you only play vs randoms and have no friends in the hobby.

This shit only applies if your enjoyment of 40K is based on the hobby, if it's for the books or videogames... well, don't expect things to get better.

It really isn't much of a loss, the honest truth is that modern 40k and AOS aren't particularly good systems, not even in comparison with GW's own Specialist games.

They are ass and it's one of the things I constantly tell people to do. Try other systems and model ranges. Kings of War is fantastic as a system and allows a ton of self expression, Firefight is neat and OPR is perfectly functional if you just want an excuse to push models around. If you are all about the hobby, other systems can give you great excuses to start other projects as well.

Though at the end the most important but is who you will actually play with and I get that getting people interested outside of the GW bubble is hard.

So when are we getting Brothers of Silence?

I was looking forward to hearing how the new rules were going to make SoS and Custodes interact more. The Watcher of the Throne books had such a cool interaction between them. Had a combat patrol box with some SoS put together for my Inquisition agents for kill team. I was going to build out that box into an army but now… I guess I have a combat patrol box of custodes and that’s it.

I understand people being upset with GW for being fucking retarded but chill dudes, LMAO. It's maladaptive behavior to let a recent letdown torpedo whatever you loved about it to begin with. Especially with the track record this company has had for decades at this point.

The real writing on the wall was apparently the 9th edition codex. Someone on twitter noticed the language about the Custodes being chosen from the sons of Nobles on Terra was removed and it was made more vauge. "From the Sons of Noble Familys of Terra" to "Only the Custodes know how they're created." It might be that they've been planning this since before 9th edition.

Their blank nature would fuck with the cohesion of the Custodes and psychic powers. They also create an unease among non-psychic individuals as everyone can sense their soulless existence. Just saying that if you are willing to do it and find likeminded people, you can stick to playing whatever edition you lot enjoy and get models second hand or from printing purposes (or my biggest suggestion, get into a new game, even if for modelling purposes).

the whole point of custodes are to be the bodyguards of the emperor. null maidens aren't allowed to be too close to the emperor because he's an insanely psychic being and they disrupt that, even for him. a null custodes makes zero sense in the lore.

I assumed this was where most of the grief was coming from, not to mention what this would mean for future content as far as sourcebooks are concerned. And if this Amazon show is meant to kick off Warhammer as a big IP that can rub shoulders with the likes of Lord of the Rings or Marvel or whatever, surely that would inform future adaptations of Warhammer properties. Like for the past decade I've had to listen to faggots talk about how this stuff happening in other IPs isn't that big of a deal, you're just being melodramatic, stop being scared of girls and then before you know it you have The Last Jedi or The Timeless Children or whatever. I can see some differences because of the physical nature of the hobby, it's not purely about consumption, but I've seen these things destroy fan spaces before.

I saw a post awhile back from a middle school teacher that overheard two boys in his class talking about Star Wars and how it was "for girls". And it really is. The heroes in everything Star Wars related are almost all girls now, all the stories are about emasculating the male characters and highlighting how much more competent and better the female characters are. The epitome of that "Mooom he won't let me play Star Wars, make him let me play Star Wars and be the main character!" thing.

Yeah, edited my post a bit late, but being realistic, this isn't about trying to get ladies to play this shit (outside of thots that know how easy it is to milk lonely nerds by simulating interest in their retarded hobbies), they weren't going to play anyway, this is so that the trannies and numales can feel in control and push out the mean ol chuds.
