What faction in 40k's lore would you want to rework the most and what would you change?
I rather not rework since I do like most factions starting point. But I would certainly like an expansion on Eldar Exodites. Space elves with the random as fuck fauna they find in whatever shithole they establish themselves is neat. Though being realistic, they are the least likely to look into expanding themselves.

If I was going hard on a narrative rework though... most Eldar in the battlefield should by default be wraith guard or some other sort of construct. I mentioned this earlier, but a dying race with shit natality should not be hitting the frontlines unless there are no other options, and Eldar have options. Aspect warriors could be wraiths with much stronger will and so on.

Leagues of Votann, their generic scifi aesthetic with the occasional viking bit slapped on just makes them look like really lazy conversions of models from other games. I would just make them squats and lean into the space biker/trucker aesthetic.

Felinids
it's telling me you couldn't just sell minis of cat girls and lion girls
at that point just take my money because I would buy so many of those just so people would have to stay with me really awkwardly across the game table with my entire army of female cat people.

Are you telling me you couldn't sell so much merchandise with those on them what's wrong with having cat girls hey you could even sell male versions of them for the women who are weirdly into homosexual looking men for some reason

You guys are right, was lacking ambition with the retcons.
Recently Custodes but sincerely Necrons as I kinda envision them as Men of Iron that downgraded and are split from the unifying source
Delete custodes, as in they all commited ritual suicide after the emperor became a vegetable.

Agreed, the old squat pseudo space biker style was a lot cooler than... whatever they are now.

Space Marines having a reserve component so losing 100 conquering an entire fucking planet or after an entire campaign isn't wiping 10% of a chapter. Also I'd like to see Space Marine tank companies like the Imperial Guard did back in old 3rd edition. Many Marine forces today have tanks and AFVs and it would make sense for the Codex Astartes to have some kind of doctrine to form tank platoons and companies for tough or entrenched enemies.

I didn't know we were going to have a nigger Ultramarine (named fucking Chairon) and another that looks like he got stolen as a baby from White Scars... but I am not surprised. At least the art looks nice.

Niggas will have a shit attack over Asian and black people but ignore the entire section that leaks the multiplayer may actually have all chaos marines apparently?

"Aw, c'mon, guys, don't be like that! Give me thousands of pounds for my really shit conversion! And tell all your friends who are in the UK about it, so they can give me money too! It's one of the most famous and recognisable Warhammer models in the world, you know! Go on, just a few quid so I don't have to film my next painting tutorial inside a cardboard box on the streets, yeah? I've mentioned that I've got kids, right? Go on, just a few bob for the land raider? I'll come to your house and suck you off if you do!"
That model is everything wrong with nu-Chaos in a nutshell, dumb, overdesigned, cartoonish and nonsensical.

The Veterans of the Long War, even at their most eccentric still have their ruthless practicality hammered in from their initial indoctrination.

I fucking hate the nu-Death Guard, put me off the faction.

This is one instance in which I'll ask "who cares" considering the Imperium is supposed to be a post-racist society, so whoever qualifies as a space marine is just a space marine. Also why not complain about the Salamanders being all charcoal black?

Gonna second this, Ultramar contains 500 planets so it would be weirder if the Ultramarines didn't have a wider range of appearance than other loyalist chapters.

To be fair....Dorn is the diversity geneseed Crimson Fists being Spanish and the Celestial Lions being actual Africans

Got paired up against chaos demons and was able to keep them off the objectives for enough turns to rake in enough VP. I threw my repentia into a unit of bloodletters half expecting them to die off and shave a few off of them, but was happy to have 3 of the 10 left over. I hear people say the castigator is unnecessary, but it’s helped me secure a couple of objectives and was able to kill off quite a few demons.

There's a chaos skin in the original Space Marine.

Honestly I think Ultramarines, Dark Angels, and Imperial Fists are the generic geneseeds that are commonly available but with the latter two either being suspicious (Dark Angels) or not available at the time (Imperial Fists). Ultramarines are common and have good optics so they could be used frequently

Dark Angels recruited from a world based on Native American's this is ancient lore but imo should have been kept

Except they're based off Gene Seeds, and Gene Seeds overrule a recruit's ethnicity.

There's a Horus Heresy scene where some White Scar recruits from Terra are mentioned, and it explicitly mentions that by the end of the implantation and all that jazz, they looked just like any other recruit from Chogoris -- the Gene Seed overwrites their ethnicity with Jaghatai Khan's. All Ultramarines SHOULD end up looking kinda like Guilliman after the Gene Seed takes full effect -- i.e., Romans.

Yes, Ultramarines can be dark skinned, but that's because one of the organs literally makes them instantly tan to protect themselves from radiation. It's the correct workings of the organ that turns Salamanders into edgelords.

(However, this does discount the idea that the Ultramarines and a few others were heavily hinted at taking in Traitor Legion Loyalists back in the day, so, who knows.)

Ultimately it's a "pick your battles" sort of deal, I think, and I'd never feel weirded out at "ethnic Marines" outside of like, Salamanders painted as African Americans (which get featured on Sigmarxism every so often, since "they're a literal racist minstrel show legion otherwise"), or "hey here's my Ultramarines, they support a free Palestine. Uhuru ya'll."

In HH the “geneseed rewrites your ethnicity” is more common but it varies on a legion basis.

The Emperor’s Children all become love children of DMC Dante and Ivy Valentine. I think they’re actually the most prominent in this race. I’ve never seen one not with that white mane.

The Sons of Horus have terminology and bias towards “True Sons” who bear Horus’s identical mug.

The Iron Hands are hard to tell but I don’t think they have it as aggressive.

Word Bearers started off vaguely Arabic but corruption turned them all into Emperor Palpatine, any hint of bronze skin is long-gone after Calth.

Alpha Legion are exempt for obvious reasons

There are Caucasian White Scars but they’re never gonna get focus

Blood Angels are 75/100, I’ve seen some black hair among their ranks.

Night Lords and Raven Guard just lose colour and get the googly eyes.

It depends on the legion, a black Ultra would be odd but less distracting than a black Son of Horus where it’s a legion with lore that they all look the same.

Yeah, it varies a great deal upon the Primarch. Ultras tend actually tend to be the most "human" looking, with Uriel Ventris and that weird copy of him Honsou created both lacking the typical Astartes gigantism in their facial features. The Death Guard had a massive difference in looks and temperament between the Terran and Barbarus groups. Iron Warriors tend to be just plain ugly thanks to constant scowling and bitterness.

Also, the pre-renaming "sons of Horus" looked more like him, not identically. Even "Little Horus" Aximand was distinct from Horus proper until his face got sewn back on after a White Scar was interrupted in his attempted drum-making.

The EC were heavily predisposed towards only the "best" of humanity, which includes the most fabulous, so there's probably strong selection bias at work. No uggos allowed.

As to skin color, all Spess Mehrines have a melanochrome organ that regulates their skin's chemical makeup to protect them against environmental hazards. Anyone who wasn't a Raven Guard (who have fucked up melanochrome organs that bleach them all white) who spent some time on Nocturne would wind up with skin as coal-black as a Salamander's in just a few weeks.
