It used to be better but it seems like the non-tranny creator got sick of it, so he barely puts an effort, while the tranny progressively goes more and more of his soapbox for god knows why. It has some fun lore involving another tranny who was there, was in Arch's doomed WHF tabletop campaign only to ragequit while derailing everything for petty reasons, and doxed someone like a year ago only to fuck off to Sweden, probably because he raped someone in the USA. When he quit the podcast he tried to blame the before-then tranny of being transphobic. Wonder if the guy bought the tub estrogen or did it since someone found out about the event and he did it to not become unemployed in modern day bongland. Problem is, the religious right persecuted a lot of tabletop fantasy and roleplaying gamers, calling them demoniacs and accusing them of demon worship. So many of these tabletop gamers swung hard to the left, and they're still here; they typically get mad when right-wingers try to enter their hobby spaces, and yes, they support the corporate turn against right-wingers and openly detest them. I remember a right-winger once told me how surprised he was to see that the people whining about right-wing gatekeepers keeping people out of the hobby were actually older gamers who have been there far longer than he was.

Part of the reason I made the tabletop community watch thread is I knew that the culture wars was going to move onto Tabletop eventually. And I was hoping it’d keep the other related threads more on topic. Also because there’s a lot of lolcows who don’t warrant a full thread but would follow under tabletop community watch.

One of the mods felt like it didn’t belong in community watch, not sure which, and moved it to games, which made it kinda redundant imo. I probably should’ve pushed against that but I wasn’t even sure who did it or why, and I didn’t want to waste my time.

Stick with a dark colour palette using plenty browns, grey's and pale colours for flesh. Rust and blood effects also add a lot to the overall "grimdark" style, combine this chipped armour and other kinds of damage as well.

It's actually a price thing. Making Female versions of generic units doubles their logistics cost. Twice the sprues, twice the development, twice everything. So they won't say, give you the option of female Imperial Guardsmen torsos and legs.

... But a Female Imperial Guardsman character? They wouldn't have to double anything then, would they? And they'd be able to play up the girlboss fantasy all they want, too. It's a win/win.

I just find it impressive how quickly the Trench Crusade guys nuked any interest or good will they had, its kinda impressive. Cause I doubt normies or casual Wargaming fans will even hear of that game in passing, an for all the taunting the turbo spergy lefty types wont even throw a glance at thid game.

Nice watching a franchise die at birth for once instead of enjoying it for years and suffering as it went down.

There's literally a near infinite supply of models for "grimdark" nowadays, plenty of house rules already made up and honestly, it'd probably be relatively easy to make your own non-bloated game rules that are far more interesting than 40k.

I mean ..if you have to. I don't really care about the lore other than as a backdrop for the game/ models. I think that's all it was ever supposed to be then at some point lore spergs started taking it super seriously.

Split from GW completely. Just make your own game. Shit, just copy bolt action rules or something since it's a much better game and adapt stuff.

Gummz, that ex-WOW guy, pointed out on a stream recently that "you can't copyright game mechanics" and pushed the idea of taking 3rd edition 40k or what have you and just removing the references to the IP. I'm 99.99% sure GW would sue the shit out of you for trying, but, it's an interesting idea.

Of course, he's not aware of Grimdark Future yet, so he's basically performing convergent evolution here, but... still.
