Should've linked him Astartes to watch, they've got to start somewhere. Did have a similar instance when I mentioned I'd been playing Space Marine 2 though the guy's knowledge was it's expensive as fuck for the tabletop so it does have a natural barrier for casuals, but I want to see a full 40K or Horus Heresy-Siege of Terra series, like the quality of HH launch trailer, on an actual platform other than Warhammer+, especially on the back of the election and the recognition Woke = Broke, I'm a little more optimistic of it being done correctly, and with the clips from Blur Studios' Secret Level coming next month, might be more plausible an outcome.

That would be patently expensive to make even with animation still would be cool though.
The GW is one of the worst run companies in the world so that somehow screwed up like everything else I'm still salty about the end of fantasy
 
Got my Lethal helmet finished this week. Feels good man.

The knee badges are cooler though. The neo volkite is fun even though the community seems to dislike it.
 
So I just got caught up on some drama where a lot of warhsmmer subreddits made a blanket ban on an artist after this artwork became popular

According to moderators it's because the beastman abhuman has derogatory words carved into her, the implication she was being used as a sex slave with tally marks, and the artist draws loli and guro art

The latter seems to be less important than the former considering I've never before seen mentioning an artist become bannable before for distasteful porn

Oh ye, I saw this shit go around and people losing their crap over it. Some even calling the art as "too edgy" or some shit, specially hilariois seeing it from the "muh against wokied in muh warhammer" idgits
 
I mean, this is just me talking - my first response was that I didn't like the artstyle, I didn't even notice the words carved onto the beastman, but upon closer inspection, now I actively hate it.

'Scum' would've been fine. 'Meat shield' is fine. But 'Grox cum bag' written on her cheek? Yeah, no m8. Artist confirmed for a fucking coomer. Put your dick back in your pants and get in the bin.

I'm not sure it would be patently expensive if taking into account Astartes was just one guy's pet project though obviously the scale and scope of it would be a greater issue. Setting aside the gameplay but the cost of making SM2 was relatively low, compared to triple A wastage and it's got the aesthetics spot on so would see it more as expanding on it plus with a larger market audience/brand recognition today, becomes more viable and more importantly not in-house GW. Even the little Deathwatch animation came out last month involved the guy who was making Lord Inquistor on YouTube nearly 10 yr old at this point so as long as the right people are involved, think it's a better possibility if planned properly.

Again, setting aside all the rumours about Amazon and Cavil, in theory the finance is there, audience is there and even if it was half the budget of their rings of power dogshit, it could be massively successful. Key thing from my PoV is any live action should be either Guard or Inquistor based stories but anything with Marine focus to be animated.

I don't think anyone is going to argue it's a good thing. More about how you probably shouldn't get the ick from implied rape in a setting where mass genocide, flaying, mutilation, sex demons, and a faction of raping psychopaths is common occurence.

I honestly find the attempt at soliciting attention by making them all young women more upsetting.

To you, rape is just another hypothetical on the 'grimdark things that could happen' list.

I don't know anybody who got flayed or kidnapped and tortured by drukhari IRL, but I do know plenty of people who've been raped.

That's why it's different, and that's why people might have an issue with it, when they just want to paint their plastic toy soldiers in peace.

By that logic it becomes wrong to portray killing because people might know someone who has been murdered.

Thankfully I live in a white and law abiding community so I don't have to suffer having someone I know be raped

I mean, most victims of murder aren't around to hear spergs online giddily reliving it as a funny lolsorandum meme in their grimdark toy soldiers game for big boys, but it is what it is.

Note that I never said that rape shouldn't be included, just that I feel it needs to be handled a bit more tastefully, maturely, and respectfully than most other topics, and most 40k players are, unfortunately, simply not capable of that.

I certainly don't think a loli porn artist is capable of it, especially since apparently they aren't even capable of drawing bare feet, something that I would assume should be basic, bread and butter stuff for a fetish artist - check out the monkey hands on the ends of the ratling's legs! Freakish!

I thought we were talking about friends and family of those who got raped, not that you yourself got raped

Also I think the monkey feet is on purpose as ratlings are abhuman.
Though I think it's the norm to portray them with hairy feet rather than having opposable toes

The idea that anything in 40k should be handled in a tasteful, mature or respectful fashion offends me more than rape.
 
The problem isn't that it's tasteless, it's that it's not there principally to be edgy or grimdark, it's there as the artist's barely-disguised fetish.
