FYI, the Castellan is big dick tank killer with it's Volcano Lance
18S, AP-5 and D6+8 at 72" is some serious shit
(it's chaos counterpart on the Knight Tyrant has 20S though, but can "only" shoot 60")
Could be worth it if your opponent is fielding something equally heavy.

The Dominus chassis is a bit goofy: you'd expect it to be bigger than the Questoris one because of all the guns, but it's pretty much the same size.
And you can always strip the old paintjob and put something new on it (99% proof Isopropanol will take that right off)

Yeah, that's why I wanted to bring it because the rest of my list doesn't really have anything that could serve that monster killer purpose. Plus it really cuts down on the number of models I need. The paint job isn't actually bad, it's sort of a darker blue, darker red, silver, and gold trim. I'd probably just strip off the blue, slap on some black and a rosette, and call it a day.

I have solved my price problem, however. Turns out my university has a free to use, good quality 3d printer in one of the libraries so GW can go fuck themselves.

Saw a kinda interesting comment on Abnett, around the time he was writing Legion and adding the Cabal and perpetuals, he was writing Doctor Who stuff, may have influenced him. Sometimes I forget he writes for other ips.

Meanwhile for the Ynnari, I saw a comment that GW tried to make a big eldar mix faction, when the eldar were in the shitter model wise. Sure they got 3 new guys, but the craftworlds and drukhari only got a range refresh years after. That would be like introducing the primaris in lore, but the models only come in 2023

Abnett shat up 40k because of Dr Who?

That's a reach, but I can see him going:
-Oh shit I'll lift everything from heckin chungus Who and no stupid chuuud will find out. I'll be even bigger awesome.

Abnett is a literary Tom Preston/ Andrew Dobson who made it.

So the trailer for Astartes 2 is out. I guess they're just leaving the first series as it was with no conclusion based off of all of the stuff in the trailer.

Looks great but we don't need another anthology series when all the other ones are complete ass.
The others are pretty shit, at least visually this one seems ok. But yeah, they went with an anthology so they could feature as much different shit as possible in it, and hell that might be why it took what, 5 years to get more if GW wanted the guy to be doing chaos, orks, nids, tau, a half dozen loyalist space marine chapters, having it take place in a half dozen locations, etc.

But in the end it's going to be a bunch of 2-6 minute animated quick shorts that don't really accomplish much other than give some people a visual representation of their minis moving around or something.

Honestly, a 30-60 minute show(not a full length movie, not a 8 episode series with 40 minute episodes or whatever) of a cross between Warhammer and Toy Story would be great. Some kids space marines fighting his brothers orks while they're asleep, can include a derpy thin your paints marine, let the orks think the two players looking down at shit are Gork and Mork, lean fully into the hobby aspect, tabletop specific memes, etc. But that'll never happen.

Ive been looking into Chaos demons a little and I just noticed like 80% of the range on the website is out of stock. Same for the chaos cult factions. I checked a few other factions and theyre nowhere near this bad. Id never actually buy anything on GW's website ofc, and maybe Im just coping, but a range refresh/new models for demons with the new god-aligned CSM stuff thats coming out in the next few months would be absolutely sick. At least a new value box or something, considering my wallet is about to get completely fucked by the EC release on top of whats coming out after.

now that all the god aligned factions are in the game we'll get something wordbearers focused right? R-right guys?

>have 300 novels, like 25% are really ĝood
>adapt none of them
Gw is either the most retarded media company Ive ever seen, or theyre incidentally keeping the normie tourists away so as to not become grimdark disney. I cant decide if its a good thing or bad thing.

Not going to happen. It's just people buying stuff because they'll be able to soup some demons in with EC, DG, TS, WE and like usual GWs production is always way behind(there's a reason they're building a new factory afterall).

edit: So actually reading the warcom article about the astartes 2 teaser thing
This teaser trailer is not actually clips from the new animation, instead showing a compilation of shots that represent the former lives of the characters that will appear in the show. There’s a pretty unsubtle hint at the end as to the nature of the final story... We’ll leave you to speculate and start putting the pieces together yourselves./quote]
Ok so it's a bunch of random clips that don't actually have anything to do with what's going on in the show other than it being I guess a DW kill team based off of the thumbnail. That's even less interesting.

My Iron Warriors need a dreadnought killer on a budget. Which option is best?
  • Dreadnought of my own (most obvious)
  • Use my Krieger tank as a traitor guard proxy (cheapest, since I already have it)
  • 30k Cataphracti Terminators (which have anti-vehicle melee keywords)
  • Daemon engine
Or better yet, what's the best way for standard infantry to take out a dreadnought without it being a pyrrhic victory?

I am very surprised it isn't primaris. This is the first normal marine content GW made in ages.
Pretty sure its primaris, the actual astartes II will be about a death watch kill team

No harm in adding the dreadnaught if you already have the tank.

I've just been reminded of yet another thing that Guy from Midwinter Minis does, which really irritates me every time he does it. It's a stupid little thing, but it bothers me more than it should. He has a habit of ending his sentences with 'huh?', as if to elicit agreement in the viewer. "Not bad, huh? Looks pretty cool, huh?"

I don't know if that's something they do on Paedophile Island, where he was born, like a regional quirk or something, but it sounds completely fake and affected and unnatural spoken aloud by an obvious Britbonger. That's how Yankoids speak.
He's set up a parasocial style that, given his marital troubles, is likely to get what he wasn't getting from his wife (for whatever reason, likely because he's a self-centered dipshit)

So I'm not hallucinating or stupid. Their web design really is that much of a hopeless mess. Amazon and Ebay are better.
Yeah, their web design is shit, the real issue though is that amazon is a flat discount on models. Ebay more so, if youre willing to buy piecemeal. I dont use citadel paints either, 2 thin coats are better in my experience.

Speaking of, anyone buying the new John Blanche master class paints that Army Painter is putting out?

From the nerds over at 1d6chan.
""They let the Astartes guy out of the basement!" – Anon's comment on YouTube"
"It turns that a sequel is still getting cooked. At the ass end of January 2025, Games Workshop released a teaser trailer showing off a series of short clips of firstborn Space Marines doing their thing. However, the Warhammer Community article states that the clips aren't for the new animation (which is scheduled for 2026 as well), but instead represent the backstories of each character, presumably putting to use of what Syama had before the first Astartes animation became official. With marines of assorted chapters represented (including the Retributors) and also the insignia of the Inquisition embedded on a Terminator helmet present in the trailer and its thumbnail, it's fairly obvious that the final animation will likely be about the Deathwatch - though whether the cast will be fully Primaris or not is uncertain. "

That actually sounds right up my alley. It's still astounding how creatively bankrupt media still is. They have the means, they have the money, and they choose not to.

That sounds too fun. Here, have another dumb project where space marines talk about brothers, honor, duty and shout a lot at chaos demons.

Not even Astartes 2 will make me buy their shit streaming service. I repeat, the original guy sold out for probably less money and less recognition than as a single author, and if he gets axed because Warhammer+ is doomed to die he'll have only himself to blame for not continuing to be his own boss. I will pirate the shit outta it if it's nearly as good as the first animation, which I would be surprised if it wasn't.

I believe a Vindicator works well, but the range is...I'm not sure but I believe it's shorter. I think Forgefiends and Maulerfiend work well too if a Daemon Engine is in your budget. Thought ultimately a Dreadnought is probably the best, what weapons work best against other Dreadnoughts? Lascannons? Can you work Lascannons into your infantry? As you can see I uh, rarely play tabletop. Blame my FLGS or rather lack-there-of.
