Not seeing this posted. So clocks if late, but this fan animation is good in a Dawn of War intro kind of a way.

Unrelated. What do you guys think was the last good edition of 40k?

Is this why everyone hates trench crusade? Someone on twitter said "like 40K but no chuds"?
Doesn't really make me interested in the game, or its setting mind you.
The biggest reason everybody (ie. Reddit and YouTube) loves Trench Crusade because they wrongly think has a chance of taking down GW. Not to sound like a broken record, but every minis game that starts to show signs of success is held up as the GW killer.

It also appeals to the grimderp people who complain games like Infinity, One Page Rules, and Stargrave aren't "grimdark" enough because having a shred of hope, opptimism, or humour means your game is a watered down babies game for casuals.

It also appeals to 3D printer bros, because it's all digital.

It also appeals to trannies for the reasons others have mentioned.

But the second biggest reason is that it's the Kreig meme cranked up to 12. The kind of people who think plague doctors are cool and think world war one era aesthetics and shovel memes are the coolest thing ever. The entire game is built around that. No more "anime" Tau or "normal fag" space marines.

So why the hatred? Because Trench Crusade is trying to align with the "modern audience" that doesn't end well. Any chance the game had is being swiftly killed off to appeal to internet autists who will virtue signal on social media and then never play it.

Is there a way to contain and capture Lucius? Like hypothetically could you keep him in chains forever? Or could he starve to death and or kill himself and still get someone?
Given that Slaanesh is all but stated to be in “love” with the wingnut and the sensations he brings, doubtful. He’s gonna rezz regardless of whatever creative method people think of. If Slaanesh wants him back, he’s coming back. It’s like Typhus, Kharn and Ahriman, they’re the favored sons, moreso than their Primarchs ever were, they’re not going anywhere.

He also doesn’t have “traditional” biology anymore and it’s doubtful he can starve, it’s beyond weird but the armor can slither off him into the walls of his private chambers and he’s just shadow and formless warp matter under there.

Yeah, don't kill him, convince Trazyn to collect him for eternity.
I’d love to see “Faultless Blade 2” but he gets abducted by Necrons and it’s the same plot of him coming out ahead and ruining everyone else’s day. It’d be like the Taken sequels where they slightly change the premise of the first.

Plus they could kill off the Clonegrim loose end people don’t shut up about. Lucius killed the first one and he’d love to kill it again.

I vaguely recall some random worker proud of his job was taken over by him for being proud of his work that ended up ultimately ended him out of chance
Yeah, he stepped on a landmine and rezzed in the body of the guy who'd made it because he felt a vague sense of pride in his work, which is honestly pretty funny.

Quixk PSA for anybody interested in getting some of the Dark Coil stories in paperback. I just preordered The Dark Coil: Damnation for about 25AUSD on Amazon. It's a 650 page anthology of Peter Fehervari bangers releasing on the 25th.

Contents as described online:

The Greater Evil (Short Story): A chilling exploration of morality and deception.

Fire Caste (Novel): The Tau face existential threats and dark truths in a harrowing campaign.

Out Caste (Short Story): The journey of a Tau cast out from their kind and into peril.

A Sanctuary of Wyrms (Short Story): A haunting tale of transformation and dread.

Altar of Maws (Short Story): The horrors of Chaos manifest in the most visceral ways.

Vanguard (Short Story): The desperate fight for survival on the front lines.

Fire and Ice (Short Story): A gripping confrontation of ideologies and survival.

Cast a Hungry Shadow (Short Story): An eerie tale of ambition and betrayal.

Cult of the Spiral Dawn (Novel): A shrine world ruled by an enigmatic cult guards a secret that could change everything.

We eating good tonight horror fans!
Grabbed it from my local GW on Saturday and already at Cast a Hungry Shadow. It fucking slaps. I'm loving the whole Phaedra cycle and the work he's done with the Tau.

There was never a good edition of 40k rules. It's just like being in the military: You last duty station(edition) was the best, the new one is the worst.

People look back at 3.5 fondly and forget about the absolute bullshit that was Iron Warriors with Vindicators and Basilisks.

Although when Chaos lost the special rules for marked terminators was the day 'crunch over fluff' became the norm. Twas a sad day kinda...8 khorne terminators was terrible to face.

A Necrons has already killed Lucius and even he was taken over. I don't know if we ever confirmed whether or not the host body needs to be alive for Lucius to take, or if the curse still transfers counts if you kill the killer before he takes over.

My plan is kill Lucius, if possible with a Callidus assassin. If not, use a Callidus assassin to kill the astartes who killed Lucius. Kidnap some poor guy and have the assassin disguised as his wife/kid. Force him to murder the assassin in the most dramatic way possible to leave almost zero chance the end of the chain feels any kind of pride.

All involved would need to know nothing about the wider scheme. If any of them feel any kind of accomplishment Lucius will take one of them. Make the whole plan appear to be a heretical abuse of power so that they would kill all involved.

My only issue is I don't know how far the curse carries over. Does taking pride in the murder of someone you didn't know was cursed by Lucius still count?
He's a Chaos Space Maine which cannoncally can live for several thousand years. I think a winning move would be to cripple him, cut off his limbs, tounge, eyes and keep the now limbless body on chains. Space Marines cannot will themselves into suicide so it could work.

So I have been recently checking out the new edition of kill team. The game seems fun, very different from first edition where it was the last time I followed the game, but I find it beyond retarded that this new edition has rules for navy breachers, chaos cultists and arbites of all things, but not for battle sisters, khorne berzerkers, eldar guardians, stealth suits, and worst of all, tyranids. Fucking tyranids aren't playable, but there's two different genestealer cult teams for some reason. Also weird they didn't announce KT rules for the emperor's children they're releasing soon. It would have been a good way to promote the game to EC fans imo

Ninth ed rules with eighth ed dexes. Alternatively, eighth ed with the terrain and crusade rules from ninth grafted on.

Nah, that's not what KT is for at this point.

KT is for releasing units and updated units for 40k without having to associate them with a codex release. EC will eventually get a KT box down the road once the initial hype from the release has died down and they want to get another unit out the door. The last thing they'd want at this point is to allow people to put together a kill team with shit they already have and be able to play it. Especially with the "seasons" crap they want to do where they remove teams from being playable after a period of time and replace them with new ones. At least for KT it's on an annual basis rather than trying to do it every 3-6 months.

That whole "seasons" concept pasted over from current year videogames is just laughable, by the way.

I think it’s just shameless money grabbing from GW. You can still play with the teams after they’re removed but just not tournaments. It’s just an attempt to turn KT in magic the gathering. I’ll probably just stick with KT2.0 as I continue to not buy GW. Maybe I’ll give the single player a try one day but I heard it’s way too easy.

I don't think it's video games, I think it's based on competitive MTG. There was a 4chan leak -- yes, I know, stop laughing -- that stated that GW wants to move towards a MTG style business model. Where instead of 2000 points of Tyranids (since at that point you aren't buying more nids unless something new is put out) you'd have 500 points of Nids, 500 of Genestealers, 500 of Guard, 500 of AdMech. That gives them 4 different armies to sell new things to you, and if they make some of them no longer playable or only playable in legends or whatever, you're given a subtle push to swap those 500 points out every so often.

A youtube video I can't find now talks about how WFB was dying because it had the "Historical Wargame Problem" -- that once you made your WFB army, you were done. You simply didn't buy new shit except once every 5-10 years when they released new stuff. 40k has avoided that to a certain extent due to MASSIVE amounts of churn and constant metagame shifting, but people who do stuff like a 4000 point Armageddon Imperial Fists list fall into the same situation, and GW's solution to that is royally fucking the game in the medium term (half of all dataslates are Space Marines, etc etc).

Dow 4 BETTER HAVE sync kills. Not any of that dow3 shit.

Clown world is full of surprises, I never thought dow wasn't shitcanned after 3.

Seriously, between CoH 3 and DoW 3 Relic has forgotten they're in the RTS business, not the selling skins business.
This is a problem too. COH3 was such a downgrade from previous COH in multiple ways and seeing how DOW3 was I’m not hyped. Jaded about video games these days just because developers suck.
