I'm gonna shill here
If you dont want your imperial guard to look like every other player's boring vanilla generic Cadians I recommend this site because they offer a wide variety of upgrade bits that are cheaper than forge world, look better, fit better and there a wider variety of themes
they have tactical torsos, heads, legs weapons of all types and all are equipped with functional ris rails that can be used with their other acessory bits such as eotechs, grenade launchers, scopes, laser sights

I am gonna have to thank you for that one because it's awesome. Definitely gonna be ordering from there. I also use www.victoriaminiatures.com for my stuff which is where I got this:

So where can I find the most recent rules for the Forge world Vulture? I'm thinking of building a scion force and want a swank gunship flying around.

Google the rules, as for the Scions have a look at that site @DinosaursNotHipsters suggested: https://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments because I've just priced an order there to build my Ultramar Auxila Stormtroopers that I'm gonna buy at the end of the month. There's some fucking sweet stuff on there.

did man, couldn't get a straight answer.

Problem is most of my friends play at the gw stores and non gw figs is a no no .
Seriously? They won't even let you do direct substitutions? As long as you declare that they're using rules for legal miniatures it shouldn't matter if they're real, fake, bottle caps or cardboard cutouts. Unless they're cunts about it, are they cunts about it?

It's gee dubs house, gee dubs rules. Makes sense from a marketing standpoint, if you are trying to sell your product why let people being in outside product that's cheaper and superior.

My geedubs has a rule that 75% of the model must be geedubs, it's worth checking with the manager before you give up.

What @Caddchef said. As somebody who mods EVERYTHING these days GW would do themselves out of a LOT of the experienced customers who play in store if they told scratchbuilders and modders to fuck off.

you could just use the torsos from the cadians(the only bit that is half decent) and use the bits from anvil industry, which are designed to be compatible with GW's scale
you could possibly make some kasrkin looking guys with. From my experience GW stores tend to tolerate 3rd party shit if they are used with official GW shit

http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/Infantry-Arms-Shoulder-Pads
http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/Weapons
http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/Infantry-Heads-Helmets

you could also just buy the cadian torsos from ebay(they're pretty cheap!) and buy the bits from anvil industry, you'll probably save quite a bit of money than just buying either the scions or cadians themselves

One way you could get the vulture is to ally yourself with either Imperial Armour 3 or 4, both of which are Elysians

I recommend ia4 because it will fit the scions theme more(they are more special forces oriented as per the lore) and bs4 vultures, you don't even have to get Elysian models, just use make your own using the anvil industry bits and cadians(though perhaps it is best to either paint them or model them differently from your main detachment)

On a side note: Fuck GW and their shitty price gouging, and fuck the people who defend that shit
Other companies such as Tamiya sell tanks that are more detailed than any non FW GW model ever for a quarter of the price
Other companies such as warlord sell multipart plastic miniatures(40-50 guys!) for only $35 and that includes additional bits for flare and customization
a box of 10 cadians cost about that with absolutely nothing

Anybody get the impression @DinosaursNotHipsters is somehow involved with Anvil Industries? How 'bout some discount codes bitch? Seriously though gotta admit there's nice stuff there.

Nah I wish lol. They're an example of a company I wished was around when I first started 40k 5 years ago; this was before all these companies started making 3rd party bits, your only solution for third party bits were overpriced shit from Polish companies, and they were really overpriced, but now theres a whole selection of them

Reason I'm shilling for them is they're the cheapest I know of, have large selection and variety, and hope to see more people make their IG armies look more interesting

But I'll continue to shill a few more companies for anyone who wants to really spice up their army

Mad robot miniatures makes some nice stuff(awesome company that also takes user suggestions)

Pig iron miniatures is the cheapest when comes to heads

I'm hoping mine will count as interesting. I'm scratch building and customising every single miniature in some way. Even the standard guardsmen will have a few touches. Closest thing to stock so far is my unfinished Baneblade but I'm hoping to customise that somewhat.

Someone say Baneblade?

Looks tasty. Your enviable skill with plasticard sculpting strikes again. Just remember it needs a frothing mad Ork standing on the turret waving a jagged piece of rust screaming "Drive closer, I wanna 'it em win me sord!"

So Rise of the Primarch or You done goofed chaos gods or Cypher gets cucked.

Needs stompy legs on the side to make it part Stompa, more stabby spikes, and a machinegun emplacement on the front. But it's getting suitably Orky.

My parents tell me that they're getting me the gathering storm books and the Guilliman mini for my birthday. I'm not sure if I actually want Guilliman, since I never have the time to paint.

Not a fan of how little crunch there is in the Rise of the Primarch. As a Primarch, Guilliman doesn't seem as good as the other Primarch's Forge World brought out.
