I think more people care than you think. More normies for sure, but disregarding them, Space Marine 1 came out after Matt Ward did the codex for Space Marines and made it the Ultramarines With Some Friends codex. Leandros came across as a Wardmarine while Titus came off like how they were written before, so it was a breath of fresh air to the fans. It helps that Leandros still being a spiteful faggot about Titus in SM2 helps.

Probably helps his case as to why he gets praised at the end of 2 is because the Inquisition already took him in and found nothing, plus barely surviving his duty in Deathwatch. Having Calgar give him praise certainly helped too.
Yet the poor guy is still below a scot in the worst mark of power armor in terms of rank

Does GW really think people care about Titus that much? I mean sure, SM1 was a fine game, SM2 was meh but serviceable. But I don't think there's a single person who ever gave a shit about the characters. Titus embodies the bland Ultramarine stereotype. He is devoid of personality, he can do no wrong, and his whole redemption arch is completely artificial. He never changes as a person. The first time he single handedly destroys a chaos incursion he's a heretic, but then he does it a second time now he's a hero. Would a Space Marine helmet be a cool thing? Sure. Trying to sell it to me as Titus' helmet just makes me groan. "Don't you love our brand goy?! You love character! Wear his name on your clothes, put his face on your walls, put a name and a face to our brand so you consoom more brand!"
Personally I don't understand how people into 40k drop good money on merch that isn't models, painting supplies or books. Maybe the reddit tier cuck fans feel like they
Just need a Chinese manufactured helmet, funkopop or action figure but I would rather use my budget to buy something I can paint up and use in game.

Just think of it as a more obvious form of vagina repellant.

Warhammer TV show will be a big sellout moment for GW. The show will be a huge hit even if it's 4/10 at best, Fallout show proves that.
I can see GW throwing their old fan base under the bus by introducing female space marines, and transitioning to Warhammer IP salesman.

Anybody else 'member when Sammael of the Dark Angels had the last imperial jetbike? Yeah, me neither.

I can't believe they'd just make Dark Angels less special like that.
It was never a spectacular bit of fluff given that even civilian grav-vehicles were often present in the setting and the new design doesn't look much less jury-rigged than the Escher one, just from Cawl's toolbox rather than the scraps lying around Necromunda.

GW made 30 million pounds in licensing revenue from the 2nd half of 2024 alone, with 28 million of that being profit because it requires next to nothing for staff and internal resources. That's the 2 million more than they made for the entirety of their 2022 fiscal year. They're well aware of their most profitable business division and they've been doing that for ages as they'll hand out the license to practically anyone with an idiotic idea, and it's why there's so many videogames and random bs.

The circumstances that even necessitated his redemption arc was complete nonsense and puts on full display that the writers for SM1 have no idea how legion chain of command works
They (sort of) retroactively fixed in a white dwarf that by making the inquisitor who arrests him a radical who spent all his time arresting space marines he thought threatened the imperium. Apparently Calgar tried to get the inquisition to return Titus but they essentially left him on read. Still doesn't really resolve problems with how it was written, but it's not like the Inquisition is known for following the rules when it doesn't suit them.
The bigger issue IMO is Leandros not getting in trouble for it, especially since now Calgar and Titus were best buddies or something.

SM1 is forgivable to me. It was a one off. It sort of dropped, it was fine for what it was, and nobody thought more of it. My problem with SM2 is that it is trying to fill bigger shoes than it has any right to. Titus is not Master Chief, but he is promoted absolutely fucking everywhere. Nobody played SM1 or SM2 and thought "wow that Titus guy sure is cool." But GW is spending all this money on marketing trying to force him to become their mascot and it annoys the hell out of me.

I know of at least 2 people who bought into 40k specifically because of that. Couldn't get them anywhere near the franchise for years, but Titus is such a badass(I guess) that they decided it's the best shit ever and to get into it and plenty of game stores in my area have had people wandering in because of SM2(hearing this talking to staff, as well as just overhearing conversations rando customers have with staff about it).

You can check their 2024-2025 half year result yourself as well, their numbers are way up and I don't believe that's just due to AoS 4. Even 40k 10th edition's launch(which would be in the 2023-2024 half year report) wasn't that much of an improvement year over year. Titus makes them money. You're right, he's no Master Chief, but Microsoft hasn't done anything with Master Chief worth a shit in ages now either and he easily fits that archetype of badass male character that is lacking in video games lately.

Finished reading through the 3rd Edition Eldar codex and its supplement. I like how the lore is presented mostly through the lens of the Imperium. It's also interesting to see that the basic components haven't really change compared to 10th edition, Lore, Rules and hobby stuff. Although, GW's incompetence of finding a good balance of those components throughout the years is quite remarkable.

Unless I have missed something, I only need the Fracture of Biel-Tan, the Iyanden supplement and the 2nd Edition codex to complete my collection.

GW is burning a lot of good will even with normies, what's their end game? Their greed is unsustainable.
Personally, I'm all for it. Burn it all down.

I like their scrappy “I didn’t hear a bell, faggot,” demeanour.
I don't get the reference.

I’m warming to the Iron Hands
I liked them back in the day. I always liked the SM + tech thing they had. Plus they were piss easy to pain. Spray em black, paint the metal bits, so quick highlights and eye lens (both optional) and you're tabletop ready. If anything, I don't like fan reinterpretations I'm seeing these days. I guess 20 years of lore does that.

Warlord sculpts are shit. They get cut a lot of slack because they are "cheaper" than GW and in the case of their more niche games its just nice to have minis for them at all.

They look about 30 years out of date. They have that static 2D look that older metal minis used to have because of the casting process (very little movement outside of a single plane; you'll know it when you see it). Even the newer ones have that look to them. Is it to stay in keeping with their older sculpts or is it just laziness? Who knows.

The new edition of Konflikt '47 could have had some potential. The original was a solid enough game, but the more esoteric units looked like ass. Now they still look like ass, but you're paying a premium for them. For example, a standard Churchill tank (in plastic) will set you back £25, the Churchill Meteor (a Churchill with a rocket pod on top) will cost you £38. Can you buy a resin upgrade separately in case you wanted repurpose one of your existing Churchills? Of course you can't. How about £42 for a set of 8 metal 28mm infantry? People must be falling over themselves to play this.
I agree, and disagree.

GW sculps are often top of the line. eg. Space Marine heroes. But a lot of shitting on third parties is complete cope. It would be trivial to take some low hanging fruit like GWs deformed Catachan or blank poses of terminators, and compare it to the best of Warlord or Wargames Atlantic.

And I think you guys are really underselling the value. A sub £40 box of 30 German infantry can build a small army for Bolt Action. Complete with HQ, heavy weapons teams, special weapons, and infantry. (800pts of a 1000pt/1250pt standard game) Meanwhile, I see people praising GW because "The latest combat patrol has 15 whole models for just over £100! Just look at the points to dollar ratio! Buy three of these boxes and you have two thirds of an army! What a steal!"

You mention the Churchill. Fair cop. Now compare that to a Rogal Dawn or Baneblade. I don't know what the £42 kit is, but the £37 elite german power armour guys are a box of 9 guys in plastic, which is comparable to any space marine kit.

And all of this is before you get into the real value players like Wargames Atlantic, Perry, and Northstar. The fact that you can buy two kits to kitbash into kreig, for the price of a single box of kreig, and come out with more than double the soldiers is insane.

No, I made a snarky comment about these when they were released too. I gotchu fam. I'm not really mad about it, I just like bringing it up whenever it happens.

I think it's also worth noting that leading up to SM2, there was quite a marketing campaign for it and Warhammer was getting talked about in the main stream thanks to Henry Cavill randomly deciding it's a good time to tell everyone he's a Warhammer Sperg, just like when it came out he was a big fan of the Witcher 3 when rumors of a show were starting to make the rounds.
And then when the game dropped it was used by all the culture war faggots as some super redpilled and based "NO GIRLS ALLOWED TRANNIES AND WOKESTERS ON SUICIDE WATCH" man's-man game, with Titus being their gay little champion of masculinity.

Titus himself isn't anything special as a character. He's not even a refreshing throwback because "bland, badass, John Actionman" isn't actually this decrepit, relic of bygone eras like people love dooming about(not saying you are, just speaking generally). We literally had the rebirth of DOOM during this time frame, which is an unapologetically violent and masculine dude-bro franchise. So SM2 does nothing special or unique. Not to me, anyway.

To me this really is just a case of "perfect storm". None of it has anything to do with the game or Titus as a character. It's all because "I heard Superman likes Warhammer and I've heard this isn't woke".

Just heard that GW screwed up Hashut. Not a weird Babylonian demon-thing anymore, just a dwarf. Why go big, right GW?

Nah. Those catachan sculpts are 20 years old. The Warlord sculpts I posted screenshots of and linked to are brand new up for preorder. Warlords current sculpts are shit compared to GWs recent sculpts and that's all there is to it.
Comparing new GW sculpts to old Warlord sculpts would be bullshit and everyone knows that, same would apply the other way around. But the fact of the matter is, you don't have to.

but the £37 elite german power armour guys are a box of 9 guys in plastic, which is comparable to any space marine kit.
Bullshit.
$59 for 9 shit power armor sculpts with crap for detail
452010202_StahltruppenHeavyInfantry01.webp 452010202_StahltruppenHeavyInfantry02.webp

Compared to $62.50 for 10 guys with superior sculpts regardless of your opinion of the design of the primaris armor
99120101190_PrimarisIntercessors01.webp

And again, that's a Warlord product that isn't even out yet, compared to a 5 year old GW sculpt.

And all of this is before you get into the real value players like Wargames Atlantic, Perry, and Northstar. The fact that you can buy two kits to kitbash into kreig, for the price of a single box of kreig, and come out with more than double the soldiers is insane.
This is also just blatantly wrong. Warlord includes a lot of head options yes, but that doesn't get you bodies. Their average infantry kits are $55-$67. The basic krieg infantry kit is $52 for the same number of models.

Warlords prices are about the same, but sometimes more expensive unless we're talking about their old as fuck sculpts like the french infantry for bolt action which are cheaper, but again shit detail and most of them are posed as if the only exist on a 2d plane.

Just heard that GW screwed up Hashut. Not a weird Babylonian demon-thing anymore, just a dwarf. Why go big, right GW?
Doesn't have a model, so not sure what you're talking about. The two big models for the faction are big brazen bull things.

Absolutely, and GW would be stupid to not capitalize on it. The problem with Doom is that he's Doom guy. Doesn't have a face, doesn't have a voice, doesn't have a name and the recent game has practically already been forgotten. Gaming has gotten so fucking utterly gay in the past decade that there isn't really an equivalent in another franchise. Kratos is a massive faggot now, Nathan Drake hasn't been in a game since 2016, Halo Infinite is a dumpster fire with the previous game being from a decade ago in 2015. What equivalent to Titus has there actually been in video games in the past 3-5 years?

Didn’t warlord hire that faggot Gav Thorpe to be in charge of Konflict ‘47?
I’d argue that avoiding that line on principle is enough to make them not worth buying, even if they were cheaper than 40K. The less of the industry he can infect the better.

Yes, and the Trench Crusade people hired him as well. He's basically a mercenary for the industry who will write for whoever is willing to pay him to do so.
