He left The Witcher over a frustration with how the show runners were treating his character and even kept referencing the books to explain that’s now how it is to the lore
Don't forget that stupid spin off they did to just get away with whatever they wanted as if they were going to try and prove a point, but then it utterly failed since it didn't have anything to do with what fans wanted even though it super diverse girlboss cast and even the professional critics shit on it.

Wikipedias being everywhere really destroyed the esotericism of the lore where it was safely kept by autistic readers on online discussion forums
Even before wiki pages, plenty of fandoms had been utterly consumed by faggots with the IP itself circling the drain. Doctor Who probably being the biggest off the top of my head. Those people had been insufferable since the late 90s.

Still worried how he’ll do a 40K show and last thing I want is more normies and exposure for 40K.
Considering how popular Space Marine 2 was, that one Secret Level episode, Cavill just mentioning Warhammer (and being a nerd about it, I say that in the nicest way possible) when the gushing over him was at its peak, it's really not so niche that it's so far under the normie radar that the show will make 40k so much worse or whatever. It'll be popular, then it'll pass, some will stick around, and it'll do nothing to unfuck the state of Warhammer's community that I'm sure most of us already don't largely participate in. If anything GW might make their plastic crack a bit cheaper to capitalize on their newfound audience.

Very optimistic of you to think it can’t get worse. Just look at DnD, you can absolutely have a critical role version of 40K and all the horrors that would bring in. And that’s before you get into the risk of GW changing the lore to bring more people.

Luckily, GW lives in an ivory tower which minimizes the risk they pull a WOTC on us.

So what's everyone been painting lately?

I've been focusing on my chaos warband of late, halfway done with my heldrake, and trying to decide if I want to weather it like my legionnaires. Feel like it would be a bitch to do. Base is from deadly print, and worked wayyyyy better than I thought it might. Definitely need to finish painting it, perfect chance to try out florescents.

Otherwise I've been taking breaks on just lining panels to work on my chosen. I thought streak and grime would be over hyped, but at least for my scheme I think it works well. Here's the two I've finished plus a wip.

Still working on my Death Guard Plague Marine Champion, but he’s coming along nicely in my opinion. I plan on working on a series of blood angels next. I botched the priming on my DG so some parts are smoother than they should be, not sure how to properly prime the figures yet.

Might be too much texture, but a bit of wet super glue before priming can make some weird sore looking textures; definitely test it on a piece of plasticcard or something else before on your mini.

Was all set to paint up repulsor and combat squad after I'd got them basecoated though not sure when I'm going to get the time to get back to them due to unforeseen family stuff that's probably going to take up a lot of free time over the next few weeks

Sucks, but just throw a cloth over 'em(or put them in a drawer or something) till you can get back to it and not have to deal with any dust.

Appreciate the tip but back in their storage box already as was waiting on base drying, just about to start loading up some paint mixes on the pallet when the news came through so yeah, no waste paint or dust to worry about it, small victories at least.

What's a good 40K book for someone that has no experience with 40K to read?
Depends. Is there a particular thing or faction that draws your interest (e.g. space marines, guard, orks, necrons, etc.)?

But as a general rule, I’d say something like the very early Horus heresy books, or the Uriel Ventris stuff is a decent pickup. Though I’d also recommend considering starting with pirating the core rule book and reading the fluff section just to get yourself oriented in the setting if you aren’t already.

I apologize, I should have added more context. It's for a friend. I let her borrow "The Dark Coil" by Peter Fehervari. She told me she had no idea what was going on but would keep reading cause I let her borrow the book. I agreed The Dark Coil is a more "advanced" WH40K book and would get her another.

Maybe a Sisters of Battle book? I haven't read any of those. I'm not sure what to get, especially for a woman lol

I’m tackling the rest of my legion’s leadership, Fulgrim, Eidolon, Fabius and a 3P Telemachon.

All bases covered, Fulgrim as the showboating centrepiece for 40k, Eidolon for HH, Fabius and Telemachon to lead the parts of the army that can’t be run as EC, which is mostly raptors so it fits for a fluffy Children of Torment force.

This thing, gave him a beer keg jump pack to replace…… whatever that is.

Book nerds, I'm in need of your help. Have any of you got some good recommendations for books that have decent portrayals of daemon worlds?

I'm working on a supplement/re-skin of Necromunda and I'm after some inspiration. I've read the "classics" as far as the subject is concerned; the Ahriman trilogy (particularly Sorcerer), Daemon World, the old Lost & The Damned/Slaves To Darkness books, Liber Chaotica (more fantasy focused, but still has some good stuff in there), The Lords of Silence, Crimson King etc. I'm looking for anything that has some good "nuts 'n' bolts" portrayals of daemon worlds beyond just the spoopy "the rules of nature are turned on their head" kind of fluff that Black Library is so fond of.

This is mainly for inspiration. Theres going to be good dose of OC donut steel in what I'm creating, but I don't want to stray too far from established lore.

My head canon for SoB is that long space flights are when they "replenish the Emperor's ranks".

Really good book on its own. A good balance of the Daemon world being both absolutely insane but having its own kind of order.

I finished Twice Dead King: Reign. I think the ending improved the story overall and I am glad I finished it. I still dislike the regression of Oltyx's character, however. 1st book is still great though.
If I were gw I'd use the return of the khan to be a way to showcase more "loyal" renegade astartes.

Have the khan return and be absolutely disgusted with what he finds of the imperium. Have him take his sons, return to chogoris and start conquering. Turn him into the gengis khan he's always been meant to be. His small but growing empire would be weaker than the imperium, sure, but having a loyalist primarch done with the imperium could set up some good books.

I feel as though the renegade space marines that don't fall to chaos are one of the more interesting concepts in the setting, and I want to see more.
I agree completely, but I am not optimistic GW would actually commit to that.

The Dark Imperium trilogy has some Nurgle moments I found interesting, but it's not the focus at all.
Thin. Your. Paints.
On the other hand, DG looking disgusting follows the lore.

Night lords trilogy/ infinite and divine for getting people into the setting. Fulgrim (horus heresy book 5), is a personal favorite. Fabius bile trilogy is good too, but book 2 is the best.

Valedor (not the custodian, but the Aeldari book) is really good imo. Shows a bit of craft world life, and their struggle with hive fleet kraken. Super underrated and refreshing to have a xenos vs xenos book.
