Latenigger here, thoughts on DoW4? I think it's going to be another miss but it can't really be worse than DoWIII (I mean it can but...), guys who made Iron Harvest are making it IIRC so at least there's people experienced in making RTS games at the helm...hopefully, Iron Harvest was a little underbaked so I'm not too hopeful.

Also damn the last post I made causes a sperg fest, hilarious.
The first impressions from influencers who played a demo is kind of putting me at ease, but it's so early and we haven't seen it, so it's impossible to know whether to panic or not. I want to say it should be mostly good, but I can already tell it's going to have some weird design quirks like no builder units. They devs have restated that DoW1 is their influence which is good. We can only wait and see how much influence they're taking.
I'm so tired of live service games. I see this roadmap and it's all drip fed barely qualifies as content. Oh wow I can buy new cosmetics for a game I'm not playing. I can't be bothered to reinstall a 100GB game every time they add one new enemy, one new game mode, or one new weapon. This content is going to take an entire year to develop. Maybe by the end of the year I might be willing to check it out when all of this is in the game, but even then this whole years worth of content would maybe last me a week.

I don't understand why so many players are into this shit either. And if it wasn't for the players putting up with it, this wouldn't happen. The prestige system thing they added months ago for more stat boosts is bullshit, need to re-grind to max level 4 or 5 additional times per class(if it were just cosmetics then it could simply be ignored). I respect my own time more than the devs do for shit like that. And then one new mission every 3 months that you'll get bored of within 2 days because the first week it's out, that's what 3/4 of the rotation is. As sad as this is to say, at least they're only charging for the cosmetics and not the actual "content".

I think the saving grace is that the quality is good and as annoying as it can be more grind gives more reason to replay. I do think it’ll be at its best when all content has been released at the end of its development but it’s nice to have a game I can come back to every few months and play for a few weeks before taking another break and playing something else

I keep eyeballing some of these joytoy figures. They're fuckin snazzy but part of me would rather be able to paint them myself if I'm paying so much for a fuckin toy. I know it's like GWs low-rent gunpla but still.
Oh they're great. I picked up a HH beakie and a Blood Raven from them last year.

They're smaller than you'd expect though.

Oh and they do offer unpainted ones lewl.

I’ve always though it would funny to have Alpha Legion infiltrators in the more…….. far-gone legions and the joke is they just got corrupted same as everyone else and that’s how Chaos crept into their ranks.

Like I know in HH they can take units from other legions but I like the idea of an AL Fed in the Word Bearers getting actually corrupted to hell and back OR being one of the ones sent to Calth because his Dark Apostle was told by his Pokemon daemon that Brother Yipstein is glowing.
The CIA legion should be as comically stupid, corrupt and batshit insane as the real thing. I’m sick of how much “Legion” ruined them and the image that they aren’t a bunch of midwits like everyone else.

Serpent Beneath had Omegon fuck with Alpharius' plans to keep the White Scars bottled up by wiping out the device doing so in order to prevent a potential security leak. Alpharius had no idea Omegon was responsible, either, since Omegon set the whole thing up a suicide mission with no survivors at all in the finest traditions of the Alpha Legion.

Mid-novel though it was, I liked Sons of the Hydra. Really portrayed their adderall-fuelled insanity well. Each warband is based around one of the many contradictory orders from either A or O and the fog of war is so bad that outside actors can easily slip in and play them. Everyone from the Inquisition, Deceiver, Xenos, other AL and even the EC can play them.

They are the “midwit who thinks he’s a genius” trope played completely straight, in as much denial as the IW and the NL but nowhere near as impressive.
