The force org acts like a force org. But the way the smaller stuff is sold is entirely separate. If you just want an army of big tanks, knights, or titans you could just buy almost exactly what you want(it's usually packaged in multiples of 2). But even with the big tanks, say you want 2-4 legion sicarans, you can just buy those. However, if you wanted them with specific guns, the 4 gun options are split between 2 boxes, and you can only outfit 2 of each. Want to make yourself a squadron of jetbikes, land speeders, and javelins, you're stuck with a pile of motorcycles you might not have been interested in. You want some guard rapier artillery? Well you're going to also be buying 12 tarantula platforms and some cyclops. And this is all while still trying to stay within the force org chart. The fact that they put say... 6 xiphon in a bundle box when you can really only take 1-4 as a formation in a skyhunter phalanx or aerial assault detachment is a separate issue(but at least you could put 4 in on detachment, and then 2 in another). Some of that makes sense given the size of a mini vs a sprue, but the way the force orginization works is the problem I think?
Now yes, they did design the sprues this way so it isn't like they can cut them up at the factory and sell you just what you want. But they also didn't have to do that in the first place and could have instead setup the sprues and pricing of them to only be $25+ instead of $50+ and a bunch of things you might not have been interested in. It's only on the cheap side of things if you're just buying whatever random bundle boxes they offer on occasion to just have a big pile of stuff to fit the force org chart regardless of what it actually is.
Yes, all of the shit they showed off already had 40k datasheets with the one exception being the caladius tank was shown with a new nose gun option that looks like a flamer instead of a bolter, but no one is taking a caladius for that, it's for the big fuck off gun on top with re-rolls. The dreadnought with the spear also wasn't shown with its existing options for the wrist mounted guns, but like the tank no one is taking it for that. But everything else, the custodian guard, the ones with jumpacks, both dreadnoughts, the tank, the transport(which doesn't have the assualt ramp rule and is kinda shit compared to a landraider), it's all got 40k datasheets. Now the potential issue is that before 10th edition a bunch of HH 2.0 space marine vehicles also had datasheets while having just been updated to plastic kits, and then they were all dumped to legends once 10th edition launched. GW also decided the cerastus knights got HH packaging when updated to plastic, so you've basically got 2 factions between custodes and knights that have been teetering on the verge of having a significant portion of their model range rules gutted at any moment. And with the way chaos daemons have been treated in 10th, they got plenty of detachments and rules, but aren't any better off potentially as a stand-alone army going into 11th.The new Custodes that look like Stormcast with Custodes Spears / Sword and Board are literally just a Custodian Guard squad, we already have the datasheet for them. They're drop in replacements. No clue on scale, however, they mentioned that they have a different scale and they look distinctly thinner to me than they used to.
But they also, to me, look like they took Stormcast STLs and put Custodes shoulderpads on them, not Space Marines++ like before. Is that better? Worse? I do like the implication that their armor is just so much better intrinsically that it doesn't need to be as thick as Space Marine armor and is still somehow better.
The rest of the new plastics are all forgeworld recreations, and I think they have 40k datasheets but maybe not? Was there even a single new thing shown, or was it all just forgeworld->plastics and a Custodian Guard refresh? IIRC the Custodes standard dread is now out of print so the new ones are at least something.
All the more reason to just not give GW any money if you are into those armies.
Being a dedicated grifting tourist faggot is still being a grifting tourist faggot. He is just a GRIFTER you see.
