I was thinking rules wise since squad cohesion between floors is 6 inches so if a squad was split between the ground and second floor of a ruin it could cause issues.
Yeah but when are you ever gonna have a squad that's split between the ground and second floor? You're gonna have at least one mini between.

Right, so next question. I've put some work into a cheap-to-manufacture modular cathedral-styled building (I figured that a cathedral has pretty good cross-era/franchise appeal).

I'm at a bit of a crossroads with this right now. Do I do a shitload of detailed decorative work on it now, or do I provide a largely unadorned structure for the end user to do the work on?

I *am* considering going down the unadorned route, and subsequently putting together a series of fascias that I'll be able to resin-cast, but nothing's set in stone. The structure as is is designed to be lasercut from 3mm/1/8" ply, and is most likely to be supplied in kit form, with both 'battle-damaged' and intact sections available in said kit.

That sounds cool, certasinly something I'd buy. Make sure there's vertical interest. I hate flat terrain. *cough* discount codes/free samples.

Awesome. It'll stand 30cm tall, and will have the capacity for an internal and external upper floor.
:edit:
I'm sure a sample can be arranged, along with preferential pricing for Kiwis.

Lasercutting the first prototype. Expecting bits of this to go wrong, but that's only because it's the first physical build so far.

:edit:
So, it is built, and it stands independently.

There are a couple more bits to do still - namely mounting points for the wall, roof and balcony sections.

Reminder that DoW 3 was half off in June when the game was only a few months old, and that it has only fallen off even more since then. As someone who loves 40K and old Relic games I do find it truly sad.

In other news I have not been paying attention to 40k or WHFB recently due to other real life concerns. Can anyone recommend any of the new 40k book novels or AoS books?

I was quite fond of the AoS novel, 'Plague Garden.'

What's everyone's favorite Guard regiment? I always liked the Cadians for their "fuck chaos" attitude and hate how the new fluff fucked them over. My Guard army is modeled on the Praetorian Imperial Guard (Zulu War troopers but in space).

...and Krieg are fucking awesome, but I don't like the idea of paying 6 bucks for a Guardsman.

Death Korps of Krieg, because they so closely resemble the faceless drones that represent the IG at its grimdarkiest.

I also have a soft spot for Tallarn Desert Raiders, because they made great Chaos/Genestealer Cultists back when players had no other real alternatives.

I'd love to play vostroyan, their doctrine is a beast for gunline lists.

Krieg is the obvious choice for being the most grimdark in fitting right into the setting. However I think the Cadians are best because they represent the Imperial Guard the best, a conventional military force composed of normal men being thrown into the meat grinder of the 41st millennium. Steel Legion is a decent compromise between the two that I also like.

Maccabian Janissaries (I know, RPG regiment but I like 'em) or Tallarn Desert Raiders for mine. I also like some of the homebrew regiments you sometimes see, like the All Psyker Regiment (1st Membranes).

I like the Hua Yuan Exterminators myself.

So, the preview piece for the cathedral is in the hands of my expert reviewer. I'm working on some new pieces, including scatter terrain. However, I've got a design for a small bunker entrance that might bear printing/recasting, if people like it.
