My question is why are Orks always voiced by chavs?

My question is why are Orks always voiced by chavs?

Supposedly Orks were originally based on British football hooligans, the kind of people who would get really drunk and throw things and flip cars over and set stuff on fire if their team lost (and sometimes even if they won), and GW just took those traits and exaggerated them for comedic effect. And if you've got a whole race based on football hooligans, somehow RP accents just don't seem fitting...

@JosephTX and @Second_Missing_Primarch When they were first created, or at least when the fluff was fleshed out in the 80's they were allegedly an allegory for the British political situation with the Warbosses (The full name - Ghazkull Mag Urak Thraka is alleged to be a deliberate play on Margaret Thatcher) pushing around a bunch of minions who can't really think for themselves but just swallow whatever the elite tell them hence the stereotypical British lower class affectations. Plus, as hilarious as it would be, having an Ork speak like Benedict fucking Cumberbatch wouldn't fit well.

Greenskin tiddies just for you.

It's been a long time coming, but finally, my favorite fantasy race ever is getting a modern update. I know AoS isn't popular on the forum, but I've been waiting for this years. I don't know why it took GW so long to get around to tackle Skaven, they're one of the most visible (and copywrightable) races they've ever made.

Fuckin' furries, furries everywhere. But srsly though you're right. Skaven are a pretty awesome race.

Did anyone happen to catch the recent Genestealer Cult animatic? The voice acting gave me nerd chills. The good kind.

That was pretty baller. They need to make more like this.

Skaven were my first fantasy army and it’s about time they got an update and not just some mini dex. GW need to get their skates on and do the same for orcs.

I miss the old fluff about orks: they were slave workers for the race that became snotlings, all on one planet. The Snotlings were geniuses but only because they ate a plant that made them incredibly smart and enabled them to keep a step ahead of the orks despite their relative frailty. Well one day the Orks rebelled and rather than taking the harvest of smart plant to their masters, ate it all themselves to get smart and take over. Nothing happened (it apparently didn't work on orky physiology) so they raged and destroyed all the plants. The snotling overlords got dumbed down, and the orks could just maintain or kitbash enough of the snotling technology to finally get into space (I'm picturing hilarious shit like 30 orks crammed into a V2 rocket without any space suits or anything, over and over again until they get it right) and out among the stars.

But no, since like 1995 or so WH40k has to be 2edgy5me

Be careful what you complain about: Do you really want to see Warhammer Adventures succeed and dumb it all down to Blizzard/WoW levels? Because the grim and uncompromising nature of the setting is part of the appeal.

As impossible as it is, I wish GW would scale back on how much Space Marine content they throw out regularly in favour of doing the rest of their universe. I'd propose an alternating annual schedule where one year the Imperium side receives Astartes-based releases while the next is everything else (but mainly Imperial Guard). Last time I walked into a store it looked like all the other armies had relatively contained amounts of unit types, but SMs have every ridiculous combination under the sun. Primaris Veteran Jetpack Devastators, Primaris Vanguard Veterans, Primaris-Sergeant-Sergeant-Master-Sergeant-Most-Important-Person-of-all-the-Sergeants-Extreme...

Remember when Black Templars were considered an amazing addition to the SM repertoire?

Well, no, certainly not, but come on you can't deny the visceral appeal of the Rogue Trader days. I mean would making Beakies a mainline armour variant option be so terrible? Or re-releasing AND KEEPING IN PRODUCTION Space Hulk?

Remember when the Sisters of Battle had their own Codex and were likewise?

Not only does normal Guard need it, but it would be nice to get plastic figures for Traitor Guardsmen too since the could just sell add-ons like they do for Genestealers cults and all the SM upgrades.

Be nice to get some new guard sculpts and some new specials. I do quite a lot of modification to my Guardsmen to make them interesting and lately I've taken to sourcing them from ebay so I can get the much cooler oldschool metal ones.

I think traitor guardsmen are coming.

The newish "Black Fortress" boxed game contains a sprue of them. This is a good way for GW to gauge demand by seeing how vocal the demand for traitor guardsmen outside of the box is.

GW have been getting a bit better of late, forgeworld have gone to shit though and imo should probably drop 30k in the near future, as easy as it is to churn out a never ending procession of different flavour spacemarines they somehow managed to make the setting boring wankfest about the correct company markings on the correct leg, the game is trapped in 7th ed. and it's sales bubble has well and truely burst.

FW was always best when it was reproducing epic (the game) vehicles at 40k scale.

I used to be impressed with Forgeworld stuff but the last model I had from them was a Mars Pattern Demolisher and the quality was just, sub par. Lots of warping and a bad fit.

To make matters even worse they've been actively reducing the avaliability of the ranges they do have, orks alone have lost two superheavies, grot crew upgrade, big gunz upgrade set for vehicles, heavy weapons sets and one of the trukk upgrade kits in the last 5 or so years, Elisians and Tallan are gone, kriegers will be next as their range has been massively reduced, etc, etc.

See reduced ranges wouldn't bother me, I'd much rather FW concentrated on making small, high quality figures and upgrade kits. My biggest issue is, despite being the same company FW minis are HATED by GW shops and tourneys for being absurdly overpowered. Just because a Mini is cool like the Dreadnought I have doesn't mean it has to be game breakingly powerful. Just make nice, premium minis that are playable in regular games. It's not fucking hard.

Comically grim is not the same as just general cartoonishness.

Meanwhile in Italy the Italians have built a 100 foot tall MOVING statute of the god emperor.
