That is objectively the correct response to heavy genestealer infestation.

its really the only reponse, the whole point of genestealer cults is it only takes a single genestealer to fuck over your entire planet

might not happen straight away, but given enough time the cult if undetected will eventually take over.

really i think most imperial repsonses are going to be glass the entire population, unless its somewhere important like a forgeworld its definitely not worth the risk

It also helps that Space Marines are effectively mythical figures to most of the Imperium. Lore generally states that there are only a few million Space Marines running around the galaxy at any given point. Which sounds like a lot, until you consider the fact that the Imperium has, by most estimates, roughly four quadrillion citizens. Against that number, the odds of your average hive dweller or Imperial Guardsman ever encountering a Space Marine are pretty small. A lot of feral and feudal worlds regard them as actual angels of the Emperor and worship them, and not all the chapters discourage this.

I like that aspect too. You've got the few bro-tier chapters like the Salamanders and the Lamenters, who will happily put their butts on the line for ordinary civilians, and then you've got chapters like the Ultramarines and Imperial Fists and a lot of others, who regard baseline humans as inherently inferior but still worthy of polite treatment. Below that are chapters like the Iron Hands, Flesh Tearers, and the Carcharodons, who tell the squishy normals "stay out of our way and you might not get a chainsword up your arse." Then there are the real dickwads like the Angels Excelsis, the Minotaurs, and the Marines Malevolent, who think baseline humans are garbage and treat them as expendable resources.
Thats one of the things I really like about 40k is how believable different space marines attitudes are towards humans. If you've been born into a heavily Militaristic, Religious civilization and all through your teenage years you're told that you're chosen by god himself and that you're a fearless unstoppable death dealing angel. Unless you've been raised with the philosophy that you're only superior to them physically its only human to see the "normies" as nothing but pathetic insects.

And this is also why the Iron Hands kill people for wasting their time.

It is true that GW goes somewhat heavy on the bits. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's gaudy. They coulda toned it down a tad, and I can only imagine the price tag.

Then again, the Imperium of Man is nobody's idea of 'subtle'. Gaudy is pretty much common.

Even more so the Ecclesiarchy. They demand your attention and will overwhelm all your senses with a righteous display of their faith to inspire loyalists or to provoke the heretics. They also have the money to do so which helps. Naturally their militant branch follows suit on the battlefield.

Speaking of subtlety, how much research do people put in when playing the game? Because I legit facepalmed at this.
I ran into my first 40k SJW again. I went by a different shop I normally visit in order to play a local level tournament. I had my Carcharodons with me, because army level RIP AND TEAR is great fun, and got myself registered to compete. My first three games go swimmingly, so I wont cover them. Fourth game is announced and SJW sits opposite me. Now, SJW had a different appearance from last time so it took me a moment but their voice and weeb tattoo jogged my memory.

I deploy my army of barely sane murderers and they deploy easily 1750 points of all female guard. I do have to give credit for the absolutely lavish paintwork and attention to detail. They have genuine talent and skill for painting these minis. I earnestly wish I could paint that well.

On a tangent, I picked Carcharodons because their colors are dull grey and black. EZPZ to paint.

He rolled initiative and went first. On my turn, I used a land raider to get my warlord, Tyberos the red wake, and his bodyguard of lightning claw terminators into melee range with the pathetic guardswomen. In the span of two turn, Tyberos and co wiped out easily four whole squads of enemy, a tank, and two sentinel walkers. He would not stop attempting to rush my warlord in melee.

I swear I heard him mutter about sexist pig around the time he lost six squads of troops.

In the meantime, I had secured three of five objectives on the field and was working on number four when Tyberos scored a kill on the enemy Warlord and secured the win for me.

Cue the REEEE: this game is so male dominated I don't want to play anymore.

I offered to buy his army cash if he didn't want to play. Sadly, got turned down. Before he left I suggested that he try the sisters of battle instead.
