The guy's a fucking sperg, what did he think would happen? GW probably have a guy whose mornings consist of typing "games workshop" and "recasting" into you youtube and writing down the results.

Well, here's the fun thing.

He didn't break any laws. You absolutely have the right to recast for your own personal use. It's just a big enough pain in the ass that not many people do it.

I like his new approach -- 'How to recast (Not Warhammer)' is a much funnier series -- and he already built up a small following it seems. People really try to make recasting sound harder than it is, one trip to a craft store later and suddenly 1 box of marines turns into 5 for a fraction of the price.

Going to be making and casting a load of sandbags for my grot guard heavy weapons, also replicated a few bitz and bobs i needed, especially open hands, it's not hard, /tg/ has a great pdf you can pick up in their WIP threads.

Funny should say that

He re-uploaded his casting Warhammer figurines video... but added a part to the end where he destroys them and the molds.

But yeah, I don't know much about casting, never bothered to do it, but even I'm cringing when he poured resin down the air release hole and squeezed the mold so it bowed out to make it easier to pour. Like... what?

My only prior experience with Warhammer 40K is from reading the lore on websites and later youtube videos so this is just my perspective as an outsider. Now I dont want to piss anyone off but I find a lot of the fanbase onto be obnoxious especially on youtube and reddit. Its kinda hard to explain exactly what annoys me about some of them but it feels like they look down on other sci-fi franchises and are always comparing 40k to them to say that it is "better". Why do so many 40k fans do this kiwis?

Somehow I feel that being a paintbrush company and making 40k painting and basing videos is cheating.

Because 40k is better and other franchises deserve to be looked down upon.

Thats stupid. Warhammer wouldn't even have existed if it were not for other fantasy and sci-fi works before it like Elric, Starship Troopers, foundation and dune.

I'll level with you. 40k has copied, aped, stolen or outright plagiarized so many different sci-fi sources, so much material, it is impossible to avoid comparing it constantly to other things. If you find a genuinely original idea within WH40k, consider it an exception and not the rule.

Here you go, remove the top helmet, paint it blue, add red glass goggles. Your classic space marine helmet.

Was walking past the FLGS.

Walked out with $130 in Contrast paints + some Space Marine Primaris Reivers + a Citadel Painting Handle and...

Gonna test out the Electric Blue Intense Violent on top of Vallejo Black + Gloss Varnish, and on top of Stormhost Silver. Want to see if I can get a unique looking Power Sword effect.

Was considering picking up a Grey Knight Strike Squad or Terminator Squad and trying to use them as Blood Ravens, but I wasn't sure if I could convert those wrist mounted bolters into something Blood Raven usable. Guess I could try and find some arm bits and just use the toros as really fancy Mk8 Power armor.

... I still don't collect Space Marines. :P

Edit: One paint I picked up was Morghast Bone. Hoping this will help me with my Blood Raven shoulder pads. It's apparently between Zandri Dust and Ushabti Bone.

First one is from DoW1 era (5E codex I think?), second is 2019 WD:

Gonna test that out soon, too. Same with Flesh Tearers Red... that might work best as a recess shade, though.

This Shifter paint is thin as shit. Comes out of the dropper bottle about the consistency of milk.

Not the best photos I've even taken but I'm trying not to powerlevel too much.

This is "Electric Blue Intense Violet." It comes out of the dropper white, actually. As you can see it's blue when you look at it, but as it bends around a curve it's purple.

Left to right, it's matte black till the first sprue intersection (around where the letters GW is), then it's matte black + gloss varinish, then it's Stormhost Silver past the next sprue intersection.

The stormhost silver might have overwhelmed it utterly based on the metallic flake. You can kinda see it in the edges of the numbers, but that's about it. I might try some of the others, like Orange Violet, Red Gold, or Bright Gold and Brown, see if they show up better over metallics.

The gloss vs matte basecoat didn't seem to help it at all, so I'd skip that step going forward.

I have not given it a gloss varnish topper yet, heard this is suggested.

Blood Ravens? More like, boy DoW3 is fucking bland. It makes me sad that they are stuck in a dead franchise now.
