If there's one unit I almost always take if given the chance, it's Chaos Spawn. 40k, AoS, makes no difference. Most people throw in some Spawn as an afterthought, but I make room for them first. And I think my favorite new Spawn models are these guys:

It can't see or even scream its displeasure, it just waddles forth lashing at everything, hoping that will force someone to put it out of its misery.

Just like Orks Chaos Spawn are a kith bash wet dream. You can throw together almost any none vehicle kit together and it will look good. I suppose if you play iron warriors you can throw in some mechanical parts for some extra flavour.

Update to scenery I used celestra grey and it’s way to bright, even with weathering it’s gonna be over powering. I’m gonna try some mechanicus standard grey on the other one to see how it looks. If that also fails it’ll be leadbelcher to hopefully tie the model together.

So does 9th seem like GW is trying to basically super buff every army but we need to wait for the Codexes? That kinda sucks but people went from "Marines are OP" to worrying about Necrons over a few teases.
No it's alright, just keep buying those new primaris models.

Out of curiosity, how strict are the rest of you guys about WYSIWYG? I'm not much of a stickler, especially when it comes to stuff like Chaos Cultists.

Depends on what way someone wants to go. A whole bunch of different looking models that all play the same? Whatever. But as others have said, a whole bunch of models that look the same but have different stuff? Unless you're marking them some other way, fuck that.

Finally built a monolith I got back in 2005 or 2006 and wow that sucked. At least the old zoanthrope fits right once it's put together. One of the sides was bent and wouldn't bend back to the right position. The crystal is bent so that the two halves don't even meet at both ends and that thing is harder and firmer than the panels so I'm not even going to bother trying. One of the arches doesn't quite fit so it's all a bit wonky. I still don't like the new model but I understand the need for one.

The monolith was by far one of the most troublesome kits I’ve had to make. The gaps in the top of the panels are just terrible for a plastic kit even if that age. Its what you would expect from the old pewter or fine cast but at that point GW had plastic down to an art. It was so bad they had to dedicate a whole section of a white dwarf to help people put it together. Here’s mine

Was anyone else disappointed that Fantasy and 40k are totally different universes, and that 40k isn't just 40,000 years into the future of Fantasy? Seems like an awful waste of an opportunity to create interesting narrative of the years between them.

Old Fantasy was at times theorized to be a planet in modern 40k that had been long cut off by a warp storm. They still are definitely connected via the warp, with implied visit by a Grey Knight who is lost in the warp. The Chaos Gods in AoS are 100% the ones in 40k, as represented by the fact that an all Demons of Chaos Army can be played in both games.

I loved this it was a shame that lizard men didn’t bleed through into the 40K since they were also heavily connected the old ones.

Seriously Dinosaurs in 40K that weren’t some space elves gun wagon would be awesome.
