Primaris are still more prominent, for obvious reasons. "Teaching the newbie the ropes" doesn't mean they need to be around after they're done; the Mentors were retconned away from that even though that was their whole point and they now aren't much like they used to be. Obviously we also got a ton of new primaris chapters.

I don't think GW is going to squat marinelets but I don't really blame people for thinking otherwise given that GW has barely said anything on the rumor out-of-universe.
They said they arent gonna squat them. There isn't much else to say about that. You can choose not to believe them I guess. I wouldn't blame you for that. But there comes a point where is just becomes a conspiracy theory. 2 of the 3 space marine heros lines are marinlets. The Warhammer day model was a Marinlet. The space marines adventure stuff is marinlets.
GW still handles all the plastics for the horus heresy, an entire game of only manlet marines.

I'm all for trying to fling shit at GW, but if you just do it with retarded shit, you just look retarded.

When and where did they say that? If they did I must have missed it. And again, I don't think they're squatting marinelets, I just think that bitching at people bitching about it is just as retarded as the bitching in the first place.

It was years ago at this point, a little bit after the primaris rolled out iirc.
It's just really fucking annoying when people are choosing to whine about a none issue while there are actual issues that can be discussed. Like the fact that the creative teams are so spread thin by the gorrilion special games shit that it's like pulling teeth to get news for none space marine models for 40k. Or not even being able to get rules out on time for the heresy.
Then the fact the only people who talk about these things are people like the 24/7 seethe ToC. While more leveled minded people like kirioth and co are talking about room level iq takes like "is 40k getting squatted for age of sigmar?". All that's left is true shills like Valerak which are worthless.

Maybe if people started talking about worthwhile topics instead about screeching about space marines then maybe we could get somewhere.

They've already got rid of some Firstborn Marine units like the Bike Squads (thankfully, I was able to get mine).
And recently, they squatted the Start Collecting! Blood Angels box:

I agree but even more on the rules side. It's painfully obvious they still aren't rigorously going through the crunch they write to make sure it makes sense or checking enough against each other. Even though it's mostly decent the Necron codex still has some clearly less-useful models, not just in how they fit into the army but just comparing them to other models.

For bike squads it just seems to be that way in the US. EDIT: Apparently Canada, NZ, and Australia too.

Blood Angels got the new combat patrol set so I think that's why their SC box (along with the SW box) are gone.

They'd probably have more times too put more thought in 40k rules if they didn't have to right new kill team, add new factions to necomunda, balance new blood bowl, add units to titanicus, balance warcry, balance AoS, and whatever the fuck else I forgot. The plane one? That one too.

It seems like they have a pretty limited pool of writers and playtesters. Then again, it's kinda always been that way. I think I just expect a better product now. For all the things I don't like about D&D 5e, consistent rules updates to fix shit that you don't need to buy are nice.
In the US, they're gone.

Probably just sold out in the US. If they're not making more then they'll just let stock run out. EU still gets shit because they probably earmarked way more for them.

They started flooding the market with specialist games after blood bowl made it big. If you want to see true fucking destitution, Horus Heresy is like getting fucked into the dirt by this. Like show the prototype then the model comes out 6 fucking months later.

1d4chan has summaries:

Storyline wise, 8th Edition advanced the storyline by ~250 years. Cadia fell, but the guard didn't. Abaddon turned out to be following some plan to destroy an Ancient Necron bandaid that was keeping Chaos from breaking into realspace. Once he did so, the entire fucking galaxy split in half. Everything is fucked. Everything.

In the middle of all this, the Primarchs are waking up. And the first thing Guilliman did when returning was unleash a bunch of Super Space Marines that double the entire Space Marine lineup and are completely out of place aesthetically in 40k, while the old Space Marines are all getting squatted. No other loyalist Primarchs have returned, although multiple Chaos ones have. Thanks ADB, very cool.

There was one campaign about securing a planet that is a pathway between the two sides of the giant fucking warp rift in the galaxy; another about how every faction and species in the galaxy is now becoming stupidly psychic because of the warp breaking through.

The Golden Throne is breaking, and there's no one left alive who can fix it because the Custodes never let the AdMech in to look at it. The Custodes recognize this as an oh shit tier problem and are hunting down Dark Mechanicum forge world for help.

Crunch wise, the biggest change is Command Points are no longer soup-friendly, which inadvertently made Custodes one of, if not the strongest, armies in the game. All is right in the Imperium.

9th edition steps back a bit because they realized they could set an entire Horus Heresy level of novels in the Indomitus Crusade. Rules wise, it's 8.5. The 8.0 codexes are still compatible. Timeline wise it's set around the same time as 8th edition. 9th edition changes command points to try and get rid of soup. It kinda works, but more importantly accidentally turned Custodes into the strongest army in the game. So, win win.

New game sizes. Combat Patrol (500 points), Incursion (1000), Strike Force (2000), Onslaught (3000). The new getting started boxes are "Combat Patrol" boxes, with the target being ~500 points. Imperial Knight players on suicide watch.

Plastic Sisters of Battle, because this was the compromise to the "we need Female Space Marines because the fans HATE THE IDEA and we want to fuck with them" sect. All told, the fans won that argument -- Sisters are fucking awesome. Sisters of Silence, too!

The not-main boxed set was called Indomitus, and was like 2 fuckhuge Space Marine and Necron armies at like a 70% discount. Just fucking retarded good value, even moreso if you can find it on discount -- Amazon has it for ~$170, or $30 off. Which is fucking tempting because you can almost definitely flip one half of it + the book for a good chunk of that.

Scalpers suck dick, but GW realized they can print-to-order these things and did so.

The big plot change was that while Grandpappy Smurf was running around, the Necrons are waking up because of the galaxy breaking in half. All of them, everywhere. And they're working on new anti-warp tech that just happens to completely destroy any souls that come near it. Not much has happened since then. The book team has gone back to the start of Indomitus.

A very good write up, a minor note I think is worth mentioning for something to expect with 9th. They added a new type of detachment that requires a Primarch, Demon Primarch, or Supreme Commander to lead. Primarch is currently still just Girlyman, Demon Primarch is Mortarion and Magnus iirc, and Supreme Commander is currently just Szarekh, the Silent King(I totally may of missed some). They've stated that more will be coming for those roles, I think they stated by the end of the year but that didn't pan out. It's not hard to imagine who might fit those roles for some of the other factions, next two Codexes are Death Guard(who already have Mortarion) and Dark Eldar(probably Asdrubael Vect? unless they only give it to Yvraine, lol)

Trajan could be a good candidate for it perhaps. But tbh its hard to imagine for a lot of the other factions. Tyranids I think youd need a new model(lol). Craftworlds? Cant even really thing of a good one. mechanicus? I dont even know the name of the current fabricator general.

I could see them actually having a generic Supreme Commander with a Norn Queen.

Craftworlds?

Again, probably lump all the Eldar under the Ynnari and Yvraine. It's the contempt expected of GW.

mechanicus?

Lol, fuck logic it's gonna be Cawl.

I can't believe they didn't toss it to Ghaz with his individual box.

Abbadon will also get it despite Chaos currently having the most options, Celestine for the Sisters, Farsight for the Tau(I could see there also being an Ethereal option for the Empire), maybe Creed for the Guard or a new character(probably not going as high as the Lord Commander Militant), Kaldor Drago for the Grey Knights.

Not saying I think all of these are going to get it, but I think the major races are all going to have one even if each army doesn't. I expect some (Likely Guard, Tau Empire) will get new characters for the role, and hope they don't make a Kerrigan for the 'nids.

I mean some of those HQs are pretty weak unless they get considerable buffs. The supreme commander seems to imply to be some sort of power close to Szarehk and the primarchs. Thrakka definitely fits. Trajan is also one of the stronger HQs in the whole game. The whole thing just seems strange.

Does anyone feel like even with all this plot progression nothing really is happening. All we got is new space marines and primarchs are back.

They only just started the new book series and shit's been delayed a bit all year, but there are some slowly moving plot threads. Cawl, Fulgrim, and the primaris are the pre-existing ones. We also haven't seen much of the Necrons yet but they're supposed to be the eventual big bads. Orikan's up to something and I imagine things will start getting bad once Szarekh finally shows up.

I can't think of how they're going to have Szarekh lose without also being destroyed (he just seems too powerful to let live) but I imagine GW will come up with some gay way. They're not going to immediately squat his model.
