Actually the recent Black Library event retconned the timeline advance. Instead of advancing 100 years since the 13th Black Crusade, it has been about 12 years. Then again, with time being as screwed up as it is due to the Warp, we don't know how long it has been.Storyline wise, 8th Edition advanced the storyline by ~250 years. Cadia fell, but the guard didn't. Abaddon turned out to be following some plan to destroy an Ancient Necron bandaid that was keeping Chaos from breaking into realspace. Once he did so, the entire fucking galaxy split in half. Everything is fucked. Everything.

Are you going Tesla or Gauss?View attachment 1772425
I walked into the local gw looking for mark 3 power armor for a project. (Didn't get it because some sperg bought them up before I could).
But then I saw it, the immortals, reboxed. I was so blown away I had to buy a box. Truly this is the secret behind GW graphic design.
Tesla's don't look as cool as Gauss, and they also happen to be shit this edition. (Also deathmarks)Are you going Tesla or Gauss?
They retconned the Plague Wars to start 12 years after the beginning of the Indomitus Crusade. The Crusade is also ongoing, the Plague Wars do not mark the end of the Indomitus Crusade. I'm pretty sure that the Indomitus Crusade will not end until all Imperial territory pre-Great Rift is recovered and the Great Rift is sealed. The problem is we know the Indomitus Crusade lasted until 111.M42 per official sources, and the Plague Wars started at the end of it because Guilliman leaving the crusade to defend Ultramar was what caused it to end. I'm not sure what the retcon is, if it's just that they are stepping back to earlier in the Indomitus Crusade, or the Plague Wars started WAY earlier in the timeline than expected, or what.
Yes, Cruddace got promoted to lead designer for 8th and 9th, with predictable results for treadhead armies (Guard were solid pretty much all the way through and Iron Hands were broken as hell for a while when their supplement dropped). Which is hilarious, considering that he was the one who nerfed Tyranids into irrelevance back in 5th edition and 8th was the edition where the Pyrovore ceased to be the biggest joke unit in the entire game.Do is it true what i read on 1d4Chan than Cruddace was the one at the top of the group that was in charge of writing 8th Edition and is in the same role again in 9th edition?
"After almost 3 years of 8th edition it's pretty safe to say making the Treadhead senior rules writer was a terrible idea. Imperial Guard soup dominated the meta for the majority of the edition and it is only with the release of the Space Marines 2.0 codex and the Iron Hands and Imperial Fists supplements that something new has challenged the guard crown. (Notice how all the broken armies like running tanks?) Do you like playing independent, fluffy armies using only a single codex? Too bad cause we're cookin' soup up here in 8th, but only in the Guard and Eldar varieties. Did you like when they promised at the start of 8th that 40k players wouldn't need a personal library to keep up with all the rules? Too bad. Cruddace and his team's continued inability to write balanced rules combined with GW's love of draining wallets has led to countless FAQs and Errata, a yearly "balance" book in the form of Chapter approved, Codex 2.0 releases, and a series army supplement books. At least his work on Kill Team is decent. Although it also suffers from too many book releases and patches."
Is this true? Because that sounds really bad
I genuinely wonder if 9th will be the same as 8th (i don't know how it is this far) going forward, i also read GW raised the price in 8th edition and again in the next editions, how the fuck people manage to keep buying stuff? Wasn't it already expensive to a certain point back in 7th?Yes, Cruddace got promoted to lead designer for 8th and 9th, with predictable results for treadhead armies (Guard were solid pretty much all the way through and Iron Hands were broken as hell for a while when their supplement dropped). Considering guard are now in competition with Tyranids for worst army in the game, and soup might as well not exist. I doubt the guard will be grabbing any sort of crown.I genuinely wonder if 9th will be the same as 8th (i don't know how it is this far) going forward, i also read GW raised the price in 8th edition and again in the next editions, how the fuck people manage to keep buying stuff? Ah interesting to see either he was reigned in or he has less influence on certain thins this times but unsurprising that he continue to shit on the 'NidsConsidering guard are now in competition with Tyranids for worst army in the game, and soup might as well not exist. You could sell that box for a nice chunk of change now. That reminds me, I have a Burning of Prospero box still sealed over in the pile of shame. That's a lot of MK3 Power armor to deal with.

They really need to bring them back. Those boxes are the best way for people to get into heresy.About $250-400, yeah. I paid $160, and I'm still kicking myself that I didn't get the other one before someone else could.
This has been said loads. Just sell them on the forge world website like they did previously and it would fly of the shelves. They really need to bring them back. Those boxes are the best way for people to get into heresy.
They sell all the non-named character models from those box sets separately now in the Space Marine section on the GW website. Though I'd pay for the Forge World Contemptor; the plastic one only comes with multi-melta and assault cannon options and doesn't have any dynamic movement or detail to the model. This has been said loads. People want to give you money GW, don’t you want money? You’re a company, you’re supposed to want all of the money. Why don’t you want all of the money?
It's a lot simpler to scratch-build your own dimanic poses on plastic than it is on resin. They sell all the non-named character models from those box sets separately now in the Space Marine section on the GW website.
