I think they chose option C: What's best for the Legion's survival.
They just had a disagreement on what they meant, even if one brother didn't know what the other had in mind.

I think people add on a lot more obfuscation to the legion then there is at this point.

This is the honesty I appreciate and that is missing from SM. "Oh I chose imperial fists because they're the most loyal, the most magnanimous, the most selfless and stalwart, and they get the job done with none of the fanfare, blah blah blah" nigga please, if that were true you'd be a guardsman. Just own up to the fact you enjoy painting minis yellow and ochre.

Guardsman are cringe, thats more so the reason.
 
I like Blood Ravens because they're a funny meme, the color scheme isn't too horrible (bone can go fuck itself, although the new bone contrast and Morghast Bone are vast improvements), and it's fun to take other chapters' special toys and just slap red black and bone on them. Deathwing Veterans? Nah fam, Blood Ravens in cool robes. CAW.

The Chaos and Ork mindset. “Oh you guys have a new hover-Rhino? Well now our regular rhino hovers as well.”

It hits something in pleasure centres of the brain to take someone else’s shit and make it your own.

New Techmarine-New Warpsmith.
Imperial Fists named character-new warsmith
New genestealer trucks-new ork trukks

Does that make me autistic? I love converting shit but I love taking new Primaris/SM toys and making them into something for my faction, had a guy at my local store who lost his mind when I ran the new (at the time) Hover Rhino as a properly converted Chaos Rhino. No rule changes just flat CSM Rhino but with the new model.

He beseeched the GW employees to do something.

If you but the proper amount of conversion work I'd say none of that is autistic. However if you're doing something like using mark 7-8 for a heresy army, or just keeping you chaos conversion in it's primaris mark X. It might be a little bit lazy.

Even though the War of the Spider introduced the first Primaris Space Marines to go renegade, there are no official rules for them (yet).
Just put out datasheets for Primaris Chaos Space Marines, GW!
It was bound to happen at some point!

No, I do my conversion work. I file off aquillas, use proper bolter patterns, drill holes to add horns/spikes, buy Chaos Spawn kits just for mutated bits and all that.

I think we’ll see some White Dwarf article/event book for Renegade Primaris. The ideal time for them came and went with War of the Spider, all they had to do was make a “Renegade upgrade sprue” alongside Fabius and force you to run any Primaris units as Renegades. Preventing them from getting the beloved Legion traits.
