$160 for a box set with 2x characters, 5 flayed ones, and 5 marines that arent available anywhere else...
The really frustrating part is that the scalpers and the consoomers will make this box a hit, GW will once again learn that they can totally get away with pulling this bullshit, and the cycle will continue.

They can get away with 40k boxes. The AoS simp in me makes me think Cursed City will be some ludicrously good price for the quality of models in it. I noticed they tend to treat AoS people better since they know 40k has lifetime whales.

That box looks like a ripoff. I thought the whole point of a box set is that you usually got a pretty solid army or two or solid start. Hell I think you can get two or three leman russes for the price of that box.
The box in intended for killteam, not 40k. However the models inside are desired mostly for 40k rather then people wanting to use them in kill team.

From what I have seen, everyone got a boost in hedonites lists. Depravity points are generated by heroes and units, at the cost of only 1 DP generated if one of your unit’s have lost models or wounds.

You’ll still need daemons for your summoning. And some of the new mortals are dogshit for certain playstyles. The painbringers and twinsouls feel underwhelming when compared to Slaves to Darkness infantry. There are problems for godseekers as hedonite mortal calvary do not have any hero that exclusively buffs them.

What’s your particular issue on the new battletome?

It's the continuation of the theme that Mortals are the core Chaos army and Daemons are just summoning fodder. The only Chaos God that can run daemon armies at this point is Tzeentch.

That’s by design, otherwise they would have given Daemons a dedicated transport by now..... the drill doesn’t count. That was clearly a slip-up because they don’t care about the FW stuff.

Which is a shame because anyone who bought Realm of Chaos (fantastic and fun box set) got a book that outright encouraged building a Daemonic Legion and went into detail about the Great Game, how it’s the only war that truly matters and gave you tips on giving your Daemons a title name and a “real” name.

I could've seen more value in it if it actually had terrain appropriate for normal 40k, as with previous big Killteam box sets, but I can't imagine anyone being satisficed with small, Necron-themed doors and boxes that make up most of the set's plastic. Even Necron players would probably rather have green-glowing slab buildings.

These were fun to paint.

Remember the Astartes fan animations? Well despite no recent updates this is the guys Patreon with a minimum £2 donation.

So if this guy was getting just minimum donations from each one he would be getting £20,492.00

I’m really surprised GW haven’t shut him down yet.

They used to be real anal over animations. The Flash Gitz guys are big 40k fans (names a little on the nose) but their early animations were scrubbed off YouTube badly this was back in the dark days before 8th.

And now they’re making some based 40k animations again, seriously their Black Templar shit is wayyy more accurate than whatever the Astartes guy is cooking up.

The army that has two spell lores exclusively for daemons, gives the locus of diversion ability only to daemons, and has given the daemon units enough size to get two additional hits on a 6+.

And the new battletome actually hurts most current mortal armies as they changed the exploding 6s rule to Hedonites exclusively. Slaves to Darkness and Beasts of Chaos units lost that ability completely.

I don't know if the Lores are any good, but I do know the Locus got worse and the daemon points went up.

Man..... I just reread Lords of Silence and even though it just exists to sell Death Guard miniatures, I really want a sequel. I want to see what Vorx and the gang do in the Dark Imperium after building a Daemon World.

I’m curious, how do you all like to paint this kind of terrain? Sandstone beige, metallic grim dark. I’ve seen some cool rust effects you can create by stippling with a sponge
