Death is by far the coolest AoS faction. The problem is that LoN rules and Flesh Eater Courts are still the best so no one runs nighthaunt or basic vampires and skelleys. Hopefully that will change with this battletome.

Like about 10 years ago, there were at least SOME actual girls getting into this hobby. Now, it seems like those have all been pushed out by troons. Nowadays, every "she" doing 40k is just a dude in a wig.

That's because troons are loud and obnoxious.

People seem to be saying the next big refresh is Orks.

2 new warbosses, 2 new characters, 2 versions of the squig Calvary, new huge center squig chariot thing, and MAYBE new ork boyz

If that's any kinda indication, it looks more like they are introducing Feral Orks as a sub faction. Makes me wanna choose some proppa boyz as my second faction, with proppa trukks dragging these gits to death behind them on a chain.

People allude to it being like the necron update where they expanded on the destroyer cult but still updated the troops.

It'd be nice if they did a mid edition Indomitus 2.0, that had to have made them a ton of money. Refresh Guard and Orks in a limited run box with two massive amounts of new models but I'm probably being excessively 🌈.

if they update Catachans ill go back to being a guardfag ill snooze if its Krieg or Cadia though.

At this point I think they should just give Guard and Eldar rules and let you play with non-citadel models. They don't care about those players, let them use 3rd party minis.

That's how I'd go if I wanted to play guard, either print or find a unique aesthetic I like and not use GWs.

That or order a 5 gallon bucket of old school green army men and play it as 2000 points of conscripts.

Okay I finished Penitent and I'm pretty divided on it. There are plenty of "genres" possible in a 40k book, and Penitent really feels like a YA novel (despite me never reading one). The writing feels a juvenile a lot of times with jokes, that while they often hit the mark, don't feel like something an adult/daemon would say, especially with the previously established characters that lived at least a couple of decades by now.
The heroine also feels a bit too awesome for being a fresh out of school inquisitor. I won't throw the mary sue term since she is fallible and is not perfect at everything (just mostly good, but that's the norm of 40k heroes) but she is the center of the attention and a few characters get attracted to her pretty much immediately, and she knows a lot of things it's unlikely to be a knowledge taught to inquisitors in training.
Despite it the book is written well with good pacing, and it's hard to let go before finishing it. I really like that it showed what regular people know in a hive city, like that they don't think Astartes are real, but mythological figures. Being focused on a single world has the benefit of really giving it lore and character.

Overall I'll recommend it, especially with the ending note of the book. Just hope the next book comes in less than half a decade, since I forgot pretty much everything that was in the first book.

God damn, when did the Skitarii become Space Cowboys?

Fantasy fags, how old is the current Vampire lord on zombie dragon? The one on the new battletome cover IS NOT the current one.

I’d have to say almost a decade. That model was released for 8th edition which would put it around 2011.

But the one on the battletome does look like it. And that the kit is also used to create the Abhorrent Ghoul King and I don’t see GW redoing the Flesh Eater Courts now.

Since they got robot horses. Theme song here.

Outside of the forges, Mars is one giant post-apocalyptic hellhole. You had the collapse with the Age of Strife, then you had the Horus Heresy when they had finally recovered from that with the help of the Emperor's patronage and very watchful eye to make sure they didn't fuck things up for him (of course when he got distracted with his webway project the Fabricator-General proceeded to do exactly that, so...). Its basically if Fallout had another apocalypse happen.
