I think the animation stuff is garbage and it reeks as a result of a boardroom meeting as someone showed all the views and fans Astartes got on youtube and the suits go

"Oi why cant we do that"

Now maybe ill give them props for using various animation styles almost like an Animatrix of sorts but a streaming service is not bueno in the long run to me.

They could have just had a YouTube channel and monetized the vids.
This just screams "Everyone else is getting a streaming service, so we should launch ours!"

How fucking stupid can they be? Instead of treating these projects as free promotional material (since the creators were already funding them by themselves) they're going full retard, the only ones who are going to pay for this streaming service are existing Warhammer fans (the retarded ones who aren't going to pirate it least) and that's not going to be nearly enough to make it successful, they're then going to shut this shit down once it inevitably fails and assume there's not enough interest in animation, disregarding how much excellent content like Astartes did to introduce new people to 40k.

Warhammer+, a video service with enough content to last a total of three hours.

I was happy with angels of death besides that combi pistol sounding like it weighs as much of a lighter
Video depictions of bolters are pretty much always awful, interpreting them as mere automatic rifles. Only one that that anywhere comes close to coming across as the rapid-fire mini-rocket launcher is the Fire Warrior Video game from almost two decades ago.

Is it cheaper to have an animation studio than to I don’t know make their own video game studio?

Or just wait for fans to make some crazy good animation like Astartes or this new Vraks film coming out, and then threaten them with a lawsuit for copyright infringement because their vid is monetised.

Then, just force them to partner with GW so that they have to make them new animations in the future. Pretty standard corporate bullying techniques.

Schitzo take.

Schitzo take.
That's literally what happened to the Astartes guy. He announces that he's 'partnering with GW', has all his shit pulled off YouTube, his Patreon gets taken down, and there's nothing heard from the guy since.

You can even go to his channel and check out the comment section; seems like the only rational take tbh.

Started work on a looted knight for my grot guard, amazing how well the dread face fits on the knight head!

Schitzo take on someone taking a job that prohibits from taking patreon bucks.

It's not even that he 'took a job'. The Astartes animation is tucked deeply within the GW community section. He was making like 30k USD a month from Patreon, how much is GW going to be able to pay him?
If you honestly think that a patreon is a better idea then a salaried job with benefits. Then you're just too much of a stupid new fag to understand what's going on in reality. Especially when you're doing the exact same thing in both positions. He can't have a patreon because is a fairly obviously conflict of interest that if you can't understand, really shows where your brain is at. Not to mention that a lot of these project have been around for literal years, and we're only brought in during a very quick block of time where they were planning this Disney plus rip off. Not to mention that these guys have a whole lot more wiggle room to create now that they can use the license in an official capacity. As for Astartes, yes it's a dumb move. But it's obviously going to be on the subscription, and I don't know if you use and GW site, but it's not particularly easy to find anything unless you know exactly what you're looking for.

Now I just want you to take a second, and really fire your neurons. I want you to really fucking think here, because you obviously haven't. What sounds more retarded. GW is showing great prowess in getting these guys into forced serfdom forever.(this is literally what you described.) Or GW is pulling a Microsoft or and Epic and offering these guys valuable deals, while also making bad choices on what to do with the existing content?

Personal insults get you nowhere lmao.

To answer your question: I think it's both. On one hand forcing them to work for them provides them with means of scalping good content creators, because their fan films are just existing resumes. On the other I'm sure they are offering great deals. I just believe it's really scummy (as GW has shown over the years) in forcing the content to be taken off their platform, then edited and twisted for their subscription service. It would continue to bring in more fans (and revenue) if they just re-uploaded it on the official 40k page instead.

I don't even really understand how they're going to implement a subscription service when there's really no official shows they've put out beyond their movie from 2010.

You know astartes uses copyrighted sound effects right? That for it to ever be considered official it had to be edited, right? I'm sure it's not the only one with that case. You can think it's scummy all you want but that's just how it's gotta be. You keep using the word "forced" when it doesn't apply. You're making this strange assumption that they would have yeeted them off the internet when other fan films still exist right now. You're running on the same mind set that people who say marinlets are totally getting squated guys. That's not to say GW shouldn't have put those edited materials on their YouTube channel. But you're strangely assume that they are being outright malicious. It's like thinking craft worlds get fuck all because GW fucking hates @agility

Bandai puts out entire new episodes of their latest merch-related show on youtube for everyone to watch, then buy their robot kits.

GW takes down all warhammer40k related videos off the platform and prepares to offer a pay-per-view shit service.

One of these companies is run successfully.

Bandai may be based. But both are successful companies by most measurable metrics. Blame it on the simps if you want.

I think its just a result of GW starting to get with the times. An animatrix anthology is not a bad idea BUT the streaming idea is not good imo you need a constant stream of stuff to make it worth it. Cant GW go to netflix or hulu for a killer deal or something @Love_Machine011 is right in that GW are taking an Epic approach however I wonder what else is next I personally think the next targets are battlereport youtubers(who some already do paid services for extra reports), extra painting tutorials and maybe even lore youtubers for podcasts.

If you wanna do this streaming shit go large I have to ask though why doesn't GW monetize their youtube videos? Is it agasint a law or something?

Battle reports would be crazy. But I could never imagine paying a monthly sub for fucking battle reports or loretube. Paint vids sure.
