I grew to like AoS even Stormcasts too. I think one thing that appeals to me is that it’s high fantasy but it still retains typical Warhammer grimdark. I also like the juxtaposition of order being the aggressors and not chaos for once.Is Age Of Sigmar really that bad? I mean the models look awesome instead of being skittle space-men AGAIN. Not sure abt you guys tho.
I've always been fine with AoS but then again the first GW game I ever played was a AoS game (think it was silver tower with a few co-workers, can't remember much aside from us having to cancel cause a member got fired and moved)Is Age Of Sigmar really that bad? I mean the models look awesome instead of being skittle space-men AGAIN. Not sure abt you guys tho.
Fantasy's lore was rich in its internal history, a dark fantasy world that felt lived in. However, there was a lot more that could've been expanded upon; hell, there was half a continent that GW barely touched upon. But that kind of helped the setting stay in its medieval theme as places like Cathay would always be a mysterious realm.AoS sells a lot more than the old warhammer did so you're not alone and despite sigmarines been a thing there are other popular and varied armies out there... i still think the lore is shite and prefer my fantasy wargame units to move around in blocks and lines though, thanks.
I definitely think there will be some sort of action game. While not necessarily Space Marine 2. Something along the lines. What do we know for sure is in the works?
Hopefully we'll get a release date for Darktide. Don't care about Hired Gun or Total Warhammer 3.
I'm gonna throw my guess at Dawn of War 4: This time were not fucking it up for esports. Guessing it'll be a throw back to the first one.

Well whether it's still GrimDark or not is debatable I guess, everyone has their own definition it seems.I grew to like AoS even Stormcasts too. The fact that Tomb Kings were supplanted by those goofy Bonereapers only makes it worse. Now please explain why was it absolutely necessary to erase Tomb Kings and Bretonnians in order to try and sell me sigmarines.
Ouch. That is gonna hurt hard.View attachment 2218309
A pretty massive buff, considering that most anti-horde weaponry is S4.
Considering all Relic has done with DoW is chase fads, you deserve more than just the one rainbow. DoW 3 was entirely expected after the mess that was DoW 2 and I don't see their direction changing. Don't forget every single one of their games has become less and less moddable, too, with CoH 2 being a shadow of the glory that was CoH 1 and DoW 3 not even having any that I know of.I'm gonna throw my guess at Dawn of War 4: This time were not fucking it up for esports. Mine at least looks at the difference between GrimDark and HopePunk. In both the current setting is generally grim, but the difference lies in the future prospects for the setting. With GrimDark there is no hope for the future, there is only the possibility things don't get worse but they probably will. With HopePunk there is the well hope for a better future, hope that if you just push through then things will get better. That whole business of "it's darkest before the dawn".
Both settings speak towards the attitudes and motivations of the character in the story as well as aspects of the "feel" of the story.
I guess my definition does leave out the 'over the top' aspect out of it, and I guess a lot of people think of GrimDark as being turned up to 11 or something, but many things can be over the top without being GrimDark so that's to me at least not a defining trait.
I'd argue then that 40K with the return of Guilliman and the seemingly endless supply of superior marines with superior tactics and superior weapons is looking pretty hopeful. It might have changes in the last few months but when I was still actively following the lore and paying too much for plastic models it was really looking good for the Imperium who had morphed into the de facto good guys with their noble and honourable space marine defenders. Chaos had been basically beaten back on all fronts, the cicatrix maledictum had become little more than a speedbump, and the dark imperium had already been reunited.
AoS had a high fantasy far less grim setting to begin with, and it also had a generally hope feel to it. Things were looking grim but then Sigmar locked himself in his room for a while and returned with a seemingly endless army of super soldiers and has been rofl stomping their way through the realms... I guess until the undead showed up, but sure what happened with all that.

Holy shit my Fire Warriors are finally going to be useful en-masse rather than as exclusive objective campers.
