Whyfor? Just paint it one color, slap on some form of wash, call it done. If you're feeling fancy you can drybrush something on top, but, er, why?

Because even with a painting handle i’m guaranteed to balls it up and fixing details that small is a massive pain.

Yeah right. People will still lineup to buy expensive ass plastic because it's official. STLs already match GW quality, offering both 1:1 copies and different flavors/customizing.

Anyone devoted enough to GW to not jump on the 3d printing bandwagon now ain't gonna switch over just because glorious touched by GW stls are available.

I think there was some models like a year ago, the Salamanders I think, that also had print lines on their guns. Can't find the image so might be wrong.

They literally do 3D designs and then print a model to paint, then split a second print apart to make a sprue-mold out of it. Have for a few years now.

It's one of the main reasons Primaris Marines don't have variant armor types, it's all pristine Mk10 armor with very little variants. They can re-use the same base rig that way.
