What a coincidence, i was thinking about this video today. To be fair old gw was barely an entity. They would drop tons of minies once a year on go radio silent for another year.
yeah, and tbf the company has improved a lot since then so I won't complain.
my thought more than anything, is that I have nothing but searing contempt for all the nomodels secondaries telling me how this is killing warhammer/GW and how GW is such an evil company now that we all need to boycott. It's just really cringe inducing to see a clear outsider ringing the alarm bell and raising hell about how 40k is ruined while having no actual investment and thinking TTS is actual lore accurate canon.

I got into a conversation with someone about how bad the GW IP thing is and said something along the lines of "well hey, it can't be worse than the DE and admech codexes, right?" and they looked at me like I was speaking another language. That, to me, about sums up the "controversy"

gatekeep nomodels scum

I haven't gotten the 9th AdMech codex yet, just how bad IS it? I heard they basically FAQ-raped the whole thing like a week after release?

I'm not sure I consider their descent into Disney tier SJWism an improvement over their radio silence.

But yeah TTS was a one off joke spun into an entire cringe fest that drew in a lot of redditors that the hobby really did not need. Its TEH BENBLADE, MAN EMPEROR OF MANMAN HE MAN! Isn't it funny the forty thousandth time GENDER NEUTRAL PRONOUNS?

But than again I'm the most hated demographic, the model collector who wants to make cool looking marines. I'll model all 10 of my devastators with heavy weapons, and put HK missiles on a Mortis Dreadnought. Even put Cyclone launchers on all non-Assault Terminators, and give my orks looted imperial guns!

Oh and yes, my Blood Ravens have a Nephilim. It was a gift to the Chapter.

To be fair, I think paywalling mods is the scummiest thing a fan can do.

On the other hand, GW nuking even non monetised content seems like someone punching a free advertiser. The fact that the newly advertised tend to be obnoxious leftist reddits are a problem for grognards like me, but to GW it would just be more money.

jesus christ, what a buncha fags

anyone saying GW is *now* bad is a faggot tbh, and probably a nomodels secondary.
especially if they think the big problem with GW is- wait for the punchline- how they treat fan content. alfabusa just wanted an easy way out of making his shitty LOUD IS FUNNY cringe fanfiction, the astartes guy (as neat as it was) was clearly in violation of the law, and GW launching that dogshit warhammertv+ thing is a thousand times worse than any C&D on some shitty SFM could ever be

fix the abusive pricing model, the faggot approach to updates and rulebooks, the predatory business practices, and then some swede taking down his cringy videos because... he's afraid of his cringy videos being taken down... might be an issue

The book thing is really a major issue. If these books had actual worthwhile lore value maybe they would be good but at the end of the day they don’t.

Here’s a better Warhammer+ subscription idea since let’s face it the animations were getting pirated with or without drama.

Living codexes pay a subscription cost to have all the codexes at your finger tips and they get updated regularly the subscription cost also covers the additions of these warzone books.

Also sell it as you are going “green” but at the same time cut off Chang’s book production. GW would be able to save a lot of cash this way if they went full digital.

Also you then can charge a premium for those who want physical books.

Rekeita getting that grift going, arch trying to expand the grift by getting some of Rekeita's paypigs.

's all good, man!

as cringy as the weebs and redditors that watch rekeita stuff are, and as cringy as what I've seen of rekeita goading them on, I have nothing but the utmost respect for how he's vacuuming up their cash. putting your kids through college by pickpocketing cringelords, and having them thank you for the privilege, is kino
kinda like GW robbing AoStrannies and niggers that'll buy every single release, I wanna hate the bad business practice but I'm too busy laughing at the audacity of the grift

You could say the nose... has been exposed....

I don't mind them making some scratch on decent models. They're just lazy though. How long has the Imperial Guard gone without some fresh infantry designs? Plus they kneecapped DKoK to a point where it's simply not worth the money. That limits your options to pretty much "Cadians" and "kitbashed Cadians".

But the new codexes and rulebook every 4 years is, and always has been, borderline criminal.

they just announced fresh infantry little goy

I've seen these guys at my local store and they're okay. But at the end of the day it's just more of the same. There are other Imperial Guard factions such as my beloved Praetorians. And heaven forbid them actually creating a new one.

on the other hand you got the cultists and ignorants who are in way too deep sunken cost wise for GW to ever do anything wrong.

like most stuff, moderation is key.

Hey man, I got involved with this shit back when Dawn of War 1 was brand new. Not my fault GeeDubs makes their plastic crack not at all worth the cost for casuals.

Will agree with you though that modders paywalling shit is absolute ass-cancer, and what's worse is every single modder that gets a Patreon seems to become a raging dick afterwards. "WHY AREN'T YOU SUBSCRIBED? PAY ME!"

Best way they could have done it is lay down in their ToS that certain things are okay like Let's Plays/ Battlereports and modding similar to Bethesda and Mojang. Instead they're doing the usual scorched earth policy and about to have another price hike when they can put their sprues together better to make the boxes smaller to cut costs and government eco costs on them. I don't even think they've started to do "perfect bind" yet for their books as they always fall apart a few months after you buy them.

Praetorians... Mmm not to knowledgeable about the guard... so let me google that...
Eww Space British...

But anyway I think one of the big issues with the Guard was that so many of them were based off of real world armies. Or in the case of Catachans: Rambo. Copyright issues a plenty. Sadly though this probably led to the guard being more niche.

Yeah some of those consoomers are really something else...
Oh wait I've got a reasonable sized container full of unpainted minis. Never mind.

Not just any British, either. But colonial-tame-the-savages British.

I am dubious of the prospects for a relaunch in this day and age.
