The only way I can see IG getting more popular is a fully plastic Krieg army. I got to admit those guys are metal, and the coolness may overcome the entry costs.

The majority of the 3D printer makers have smelled the blood in the water. You can get an Anycubic Photon Zero for under 100. You've spent more on GW. Bite the bullet. And watch the savings come in. Your bank account will thank you.Anybody care to recommend a good alternative site for minis? I can't buy a 3d printer for now and the GW guard lineup is pretty stale

problem is you need the space for it unless you don't care about some long-term effects for the sake of cheap plastic, and not everyone wants to deal with the whole resin and curing process (same way not everyone heavily kitbashes his dudes). The majority of the 3D printer makers have smelled the blood in the water. Resin in your lungs boiiiiiiLong term effects?
There can be if you huff the stuff.Long term effects?
You're probably fine. The hood cuts down on fumes drastically. If you're reeeeally concerned about it, you can rig up a filter or something.Hoping things aren't too bad, I don't have any space for this thing except in a nook next to my living room door, and this place doesn't have the best ventilation in the world. I don't smell anything unless I have the thing's lid off and am actively working with the rest, in either case.
I'm more worried about fume buildup over time, I don't exactly empty the vat when I'm done printing, but yeah, hopefully it's fine. You're probably fine. The hood cuts down on fumes drastically. If you're reeeeally concerned about it, you can rig up a filter or something.
Like every other chemical, don't huff it.
*Edit* SDS on resins pretty much say don't keep it on your skin, don't drink it, don't get in eyes, and don't breathe in high concentrations of fumes/dust.
If youre hanging out in the same room as your printer do not listen to the other guy, he is trying to kill you. Set up a hose from the rear exaust of the printer and have it feed out a window. Even then I would not want to hang around in the same room too much.I'm more worried about fume buildup over time, I don't exactly empty the vat when I'm done printing, but yeah, hopefully it's fine.
Lol melodramatic much? Even said if someone is really concerned to rig up some filtration. Better to be safe than sorry if it worries you.If youre hanging out in the same room as your printer do not listen to the other guy, he is trying to kill you.
Live by the sword, die by the sword. The TTS guys threw Arch under the bus the literal nanosecond GW decided to purge him and then danced, dilated, and pissed on his grave. Arch is an enormous faggot but TTS deserve this just as much.I've been a fan of 40k for a long fucking time, but with the death of TTS, I'm just feeling kinda... done. I'll miss the series itself, but that's not the point. GW has done stupid corporate stuff before, but all the 40k friends I have agree that this feels different. This is just open, naked, SEETHING contempt for their fans. GW doesn't want fans. They don't even want customers at this point. They want paypigs. And I'm no longer interested in being a hostage with a wallet.
People forget how fucking tiny these printers are. The giant FDM ones require a lot of space. But the medium sized resin printers are about the size of a small bin. You can easily put it in a cupboard in your house. Resin can be very dangerous but so long as you're not huffing the bottles or rubbing it in your skin it's really not that hard to be mindful of. The worst you might have to do is just not stick around in the room the printer is in and keep a window open.themakerscult | CGTrader

pricewise they were pretty cheap for a while now since they're steadily upping the resolution so they have to get rid of old models. some people like to point out how healthy GW is with their profits going up during corona (which tends to happen when you lock everyone at home, they tend to spend more time and money on hobbies and worse useless stuff), but so has anything else. there are so many mini patreons now for almost every niche it's almost impossible to keep track of it all.
not everyone can or wants to jump through the hoops to do it, plus you need more than just the printer. I could set up an enclosure, but can't set up proper ventilation unless I re-arrange half the apartment, changing the window is out of the question, so it would mean I got to keep it open constantly, which would suck balls during the winter (never mind the heating costs), and I'd rather avoid going on a walk for hours while the print is running. not that much of a hater to poison myself just to stick it to some britbongs (they don't get any money from me anyway).People forget how fucking tiny these printers are. I think much like VR, people are making more and more excuses to just not bother with it. The price is under 100 so now they're these nightmarish and bulky poison factories. I live in a tiny room and I just put mine in a linen cupboard with a homemade enclosure I scrapped together in half an hour. It prints great. I don't have to support a shit company anymore whilst maintaining my lust for new minis. Feels great.
bro but the brrr memes are so funny!not everyone can or wants to jump through the hoops to do it, plus you need more than just the printer. space is the main reason I didn't get one yet, because I know I would make the money back rather quick printing stuff for my social circle who still dumps whole paychecks on 40k (plus the stuff I'd print for me which would possible entice them to switch games altogether). theoretically I could rent some workspace or house it at a mate, but the process is still error-prone enough that you want to keep a close eye on it to not waste material or possible break stuff, even with some webcam feed (which you'd have to setup too) you can only do so much and there's still the physical distance you'd have to cover when shit happens.
there certainly are misconceptions, but unlike VR ("I tried cardboard and/or on my 720p machine it runs like ass, this means VR sucks") it feels it's more the opposite where people think it's easy, just buy a printer and get all gw minis for free, judging by the questions that constantly come up in the usual channels (some at least are smart enough to ask before they jump into it). for now it's still a hobby which means it takes time and money - less an issue if you're already in tabletop, but not everyone is technically (and mechanically if you go with FDM) inclined to enjoy it compared to painting and pushing minis around.
What would you want in the Custodes codex when it comes? The Tsons and grey Knights codices are looking pretty blessed fellas. Flavorful and nothing that seems overly broken.
