Game is out on consoles! I'll be downloading and playing it tomorrow but some quick warning i saw from reddit

1-The 1v1 zoomed character allegedly sucks ass. If you play Tom and Jerry the camera will not track jerry and he'll be offscreen.
2-Banana guard is a reward for login in 2 days a row so he's not free day 1.
3-You cannot train or play bot matches with characters you didnt buy yet. This means you cant even test a character to see if you'll like playing them. AWFUL decision.
4-Agent Smith will be free if you clear the new challenge mode
5-Game is allegedly laggy, runs bad and has notable input delay.

Not just awful, "fuckin' retarded" is more fitting.

I'm hoping this is just "we let the servers just rot for a year and forgot to do any real maintenance before launch", otherwise, that doesn't bode well. I've also heard it's got the Brawl treatment and been made more floaty and slow. Still waiting on the PC version to launch, so again I'll have to wait and see.

This would still affect every zoner to different degrees even if you dont play them. Imagine fighting bugs or marvin and you accidently walk back into an offscreen rocket.

The camera was zoomed out for a reason, this game has too much projectile play and stage gimmicks to keep track, it makes no sense to zoom in to fighting game distance.

Anyways i'm watching some console gameplay and its funny how Jason doesnt actually look that huge now that everyone got bigger. Steven stage used to feel gigantic now looks almost small.

I tested the game a bit a few minutes, Shaggy and Batman were still fun as fuck, but the Steam update should be RIGHT NOW so i'll check it too since i have a bit free time and compare.
 
Dealing with account linking crap, so all I've done is log in so far. Just wanted to say: Fuck forced tutorials. I don't care it's 2-3 minutes, do not fucking force me to do them you assholes. I could of figured out everything you "taught me" slapping my fuckin' hand on the controller a few times.


Edit after some play: All the assests definitely look much nicer. The gameplay is definitely slower than the beta, but its not too excessive, its really only striking on a character that was stupid fucking fast in the beta like Stripe. I can already tell Rifts are going to be a slog. Since it's PvE, there's a type of equipment called "gems" that enhance your stats, and it's very easy to tell how mandatory they are going to be just from the first Joker stage. Just try doing "Experienced" and then "Easy" on that first stage to see what I mean.

The 1v1 zoom is pretty bad. Not unplayable, but I'd say zoom it out 50% more and it would be just fine. I'll have to try pvp later to see how bad the lag is, I'm focusing on Rifts first to get them done.

Call me lunatic but the game feels BAD, and i did play beta 5 minutes before the update. Running speed is significant slower on everyone, you cant walk through enemies, jump height and fall speed is lower, double jump has no height, everything has longer startup and recovery, you straight up can't cancel 90% animations into dodge anymore so even the hitboxes feel like garbage, with characters failing to connect their entire jab combo.

Like i said a while ago, dash attack starts too soon so you can't realistically run into jab people anymore. This is especially bad on supes who has a good jab.

Also, lebron lost the dunkin downwards drag and doesnt hit behind anymore and the knockback was nerfed to shit. Superman lost up and down thrown so what's the point of playing him anymore if i can't throw scrubs down anymore 😢

Well, if this goes like it did in the beta, they should be putting out regular patches and adjustments, so hopefully this can be addressed and fixed if needed.

Also, the Gleamium reward can be gotten multiple times. Think you can get up to at least 200

Yeah, but they need to capitalize on it fast. I also got some really jank bug where if i pressed dodge my character would randomly decide to move to the left infinitely and kill me and it happened +3 times. Other things like changing player outline and colors literally on the options literally doesnt work either. Real pvp matches are allegedly on high ping so thats why the input delay. Bad first impression.

btw there is an 11 day login event that lasts 11 days and if you do it you get a cool hawain shirt superman skin for free! I dont know if missing a single day is enough to lose it so i'm warning it here.

Yeah, the speed at which they patch things will be important.

The characters are 20% larger, and the upspecials have lost in vertical recovery.

The camera is god awful. Jesus.
PvE is just vs bots... And you can roll "save your ally from a bubble" in a 1v1 match.
Dexter's Lab is a warcrime.

This is expected but damn, i cant defend it cause Tony wouldnt shut about the netcode. I watched the pre-release interview and tony would spin every question into going back about how excited he is about the netcode being so good and how everyone will love it yadayada.

In one other bad news, local play still locks all characters meaning people cant do tournaments until they get an account with everything unlocked. They also removed 2P vs AI because they expect you to do the Rift AI stages, but if you just wanted to fight bots with a friend you cant anymore.

BTW if you link your Warner bros account to your steam account AND your twitch account, you'll get free stuff by watching streams during the first week.

You only need to watch 90 minutes to get garnet skin which is surprisingly short so it's nice.

Is it just my Steam Deck or does this game look really bad? I have it put on my TV at 1920 x 1080, but it looks horrendous. You can see the pixelation on the character icons above.

No, I am glad I am not the only one to feel it. Everything I have played feels and looks significantly worse than Beta.
 
I've been reading about the RIFT mode (single player story mode against AI) and if you want to unlock Agent Smith you need to beat 20 bosses (counts multiple difficulties) but the mode is basically pay 2 win and requires grinding exp to even be allowed to play them.

Note how Crushing difficulty requires "GEM LEVEL 4" and this person is level 1.

To level up your gem level you need to keep playing Rifts dailies to drop ACME lootboxes to get gems and dupe gems become gem EXP. Gems are literally equipable passives to your character, most likely inspired by Smash bros story mode stickers.

There are 3 gem colors and you need to have matching color gems to use on the rift. Using gems on the rift gives you gem exp, meaning you want at least 5 gems for each fight... but at the same time you need to grind those lootboxes to level up your gems so you can unlock harder boss fight. Note that each gem color (?) has to leveled individually and rifts can ask for more than one.

So thats why there is an option to straight up buy gems and gem exp.

What i'm trying to say is, if you want to unlock agent smith you need to kill 20 bosses but there arent enough yet meaning you need to beat the ones avaiable in all difficulties which would require crazy grind OR paying. So dont be dumb and waste your money on this k?

Also also, i JUST found out that you do not get battlepass exp by fighting, only from challenges. This is a terrible idea and incentivizes the player to do challenges with bots and quit.

No, I am glad I am not the only one to feel it. Everything I have played feels and looks significantly worse than Beta.

They straight up removed the few good things from beta somehow. No more 2d portrait art, no battle stats, no offline mode, nothing unlocked for local, no advanced tutorial, worse UI, switching anything in training forces a loading screen now, no f2p skins (gold reindog now costs 15 dollars), no toast back option, no more ground neutral air, etc.

And the worst of all

1-No free for all nor 2P vs bots (i liked those)
2-No ranked
3-No pre-match perk picking, only fixed custom loadouts you must unlock

There's still fun to be had but since i dont care about the rift things, it feels much less fun than the beta, both in gameplay and content.
 
I have a feeling this game may not last long. The open-beta looked and felt way better than the finished release. That move to a new engine is proving to be a terrible idea. Not to mention that the relaunch has very little actual content, and not much stated for the near future either.

Starting to get a hang of the new controls, but it lacks the fun of the initial game. Maybe it is because I only have Shaggy currently, but I see no reason to invest in anything.

I’ve played it a bit now,,and while I do wish it was more backed out and the characters were a bit smaller, I’m still having fun with the game. Haven’t had many connection issues, but maybe that’s just luck of the draw or something.
@LucasSomething if it helps regarding Agent Smith, it’s just for an early unlock.

The more annoying part about it is all the skins after Smith himself. 20 bosses is already crazy, but you need even more for the skins. With how the stupid ass gems work, you ain't getting anywhere close to those without whaling.


I am having fun as well, but there's so much stupid shit to it right now that's just ridiculous. Little things like being able to check your badge stats being absent when they worked just fuckin' fine in the beta, certain moves not registering a "use" on missions (Stripes down special doesn't register as one for example, this issue has existed since frigon beta), to absolute nonsense like the gems and locking characters away in fuckin' training and local. What the fuck, Tony? Sure as hell won't be spending another dime on this game till they get their shit in order first, I still have enough tickets to last a century if the beta character release schedules are anything to go by.
