I hope they put some QUIT MATCH button somewhere, cause apparently they forgot that too. I tried doing rifts and i fail a challenge i cant retry for the max score, i HAVE to finish or fail and i cant even die on the cannon ones.

This is, unironically, literally the only modern game i have ever played without a quit button. Why the hell did they rush this release again if it was clearly not ready? You could've waited a few more months, it's not like there's any incoming competition anyway. Did Warner say "fuck it we need that MTX money NOW!" or did they not learn from the beta?

If an update is happening it's problably when the next rift unlocks in a few days. We might get tiny balance changes too, i expect to see banana guard side-special nerfed.
I tend to lean towards blaming WB games over the core team making the game, tbh.

Mortal Kombat 1 was also rushed by warner and released in a buggy state, missing basic features, awful netcode and more mobile currencies so it tracks. It was probably rushed to avoid releasing near Tekken 8 and Granblue rising.

But at least MK has enough brand power to survive a rough launch while MVS might not (and didnt). You'd think they'd know better. but it's modern warner bros so they clearly dont care about anything but short term profit...

From the fighters I've bought/fought, here's what I think a tier list looks like:
S: Harley, Buggs, Finn
A: WW, Shaggy, Morty, Black Adam
B: Tom And Jerry, Banana Guard, Batman, Superman, Lebron
C: Steven, Jason, Rick, Garnet
D: Taz, Jake, Welma, Iron Gian

Woke Kombat 1 hasn't recovered since the launch, and is still on life support because of the Kameos and shitty gameplay that doesn't feel like MK. MK is big in Brazil, and nobody wants to touch this game even when they had a big prize pool over there.

Tekken 8 wouldn't have killed this game because they're 2 different games despite being in the fighting genre (Plus, Tekken is a shit show now). It's like they learned nothing from the previous version, and spent more time on the microtransactions and nostalgia berries. If anything, this was a golden opportunity, and they screwed that up. Nobody knows how to make a Smash game without the cringe (I refuse to acknowledge the trash that's Brawlhalla and other cringy indie shit). Multiversus killed Multiversus

I hope they add the stool from million dollar baby as a character

Also it could have an alternative skin where it's the chair Clint Eastwood yelled at and pretended was Obama

Man, I don't know how they did it. Every single aspect of the game is worse than the beta... it's almost impressive they fucked it up so much, it feels like it's something that should take artistry rather than pure incompetence.

The obvious slowness and the issues that brings with things not properly adjusted to it, the perks being gutted and lessened, 60% of rewards being the perk currency for the now useless perks, constant de-syncing in matches, the UI being worse, no testing characters you don't own in training, etc., etc.

Guys, if this is what they brought out after a year I don't think the prospects for the future are good. Are they really gonna re-do almost everything again to make it worthwhile? I don't think it will hold interest for that long. I'm tentatively predicting a chance of EOS in 1 year, and likely in 2 years unless they fix this shit lightning fast while there is a chance people will still care.

The new Jason rift is up. Looks like Harley, Joker and Black Adam have a variant wearing the Jason mask. Also has “Horror” Gems to get. Beat on Easy and Regular difficulty already for the Boss tokens.

Iron giant is low tier on pubs but on online tournaments he's getting banned everywhere due to multiple jab loop infinites and grabs into unavoidable death. Never seen one in random matches tho.

His burst also has higher stun than before and will kill or combo into other stuff. Here is an example of how gross it is when timed well https://x.com/_Fatpac/status/1796794714622218266

The way rifts, and the boss token thing for getting Agent Smith for free in the future, work is really pushing into BS land. The fact lots of the stars require specific characters or costumes to reach the 100 needed to level up your gems to even have a chance to play the higher difficulties at as huge disadvantage basically requires you do it with a second player. My brother is also playing, but ain't no way he is gonna wanna grind that shit out - and he's smarter than me for it. I ended up realizing I could just download Multiversus on my PS4 and get the multiplayter stars that way which works pretty good as the second player doesn't count towards deaths so they can just stand there to no consequence, even a small benefit as they will occasionally be targeted letting you capitalize. Works really well until getting into the one where you need average gem levels which is required by both players... the stars for stuff like 'hit 10 down attacks' are personal, so if one player does it it doesn't award it to the other, so I'd have to grind out that shit again on an account that only has Shaggy.

They are working on that as we speak.

Leveling up Gems is a lot easier if you do their daily challenges on a higher difficulty than Easy.

Can you guys just turn him into scrap while you're at it? Actual Ridley has overstayed his welcome and should of never of received an invitation to begin with. This isn't his first time being an insufferable nightmare that flatout isn't fun to play against.

I've seen the Harley variant so far and I'm honestly annoyed they're this fucking lazy, especially when they have the gall to be selling them at $5 a pop. It's not just a lazy variant, the mask isn't even a mask, they literally just swapped the texture on her face. It warps along with her gum chewing animation before a match starts. It's a 3d model where 95% of the work is already done, it's not that hard to slap another set of polygons on it to make an actual mask. If these lazy rift variants were like 50-100 gleemium or purchasable with character currency it would be one thing, but they're hawking these things like they're not as low effort as an NFT and locking some levels and objectives behind them. Skin prices are pretty ridiculous as it is, but at least with skins like Cake, BL Supes/WW, Batman Who Laughs ect I can understand why they'd want some cash for them, those are a fuck of a lot more time and effort to implement than putting a fucking shirt on Superman or a simple hockey mask texture on Harley's face.

I've completely given up on getting Smith early. 3 sets of gems you expect me to grind, you expect me to play every single level 5 fucking times minimum, and then you lock "completion" for several objectives behind fucking pay walls (I can tolerate character objectives, not a fucking SKIN objective, that's money grubbing horse shit and whoever thought it wise should be fucking shot), make it such a fucking chore, then throw exp packs at me like a grifting snake? Nah, get fucked. I'll wait and buy him with a ticket. If you got battle pass exp for all this extra grinding, I wouldn't mind it so much, but we don't even get that, so fuck em.

I'm glad someone calls this out. MV beta put me off with it's lackluster battle pass. Now there's this bullshit. No, thank you!

I can’t bring myself to really care all that much about it since I don’t actively have to spend any money. Yes, some of the rift missions being locked behind a specific skin is sucky, but there’s enough available missions for me to get what I need without paying for the skin.

You could argue it preys on people with the need to collect/complete everything, but there you go.

You actually level gems by getting duplicates from daily challenge boxes and you get higher tiers on higher difficulty. You dont need to 100% the stages to level up, i'm not sure you get anything beyond 1 box every 16 stars. That being said, a few stages are legit locked behind shit like shirts that i literally cant complete yet.

They are working on that as we speak.

I wonder if it's because of the recent competitive bans and more tweets spreading. A lot of people hated old balance changes but if you watched tournaments many of them were dictated by tournament results and even specific players.

Hilariously, that happened during an online tourney that HAD Ion Giant unbanned so a player saw him be deleted inbetween matches

I hope they’re paying attention to the right criticism and not just people lying or exaggerating things just for clicks. I enjoy the game and want the things that are flawed to get fixed, but I don’t want them doing stuff that actually isn’t an issue and is just idiots online starting shit.

I’m fully aware the game has problems, but there’s some real idiots online calling the game a scam because you don’t get all the characters free and “can only unlock them by paying money”.

Like you can fairly argue it’s too grindy in places, but there’s some real stupidity going on out there.
I mean that pretty obviously is the dark pattern the devs have baked into this system. The free fighter currency is toploaded for new players with events and the early BP levels having a ton, but once those are all spent up, it's intentionally made very difficult to save up for even one character(3,000 jew coins) off of the measly 100/200/300 you get for leveling up each character you own. That's not even getting in to how steep a grind it is to even get a character to the level that rewards all of the free fighter currency.

Sure, it's not that big of a deal now, especially if you have a few fighters unlocked from playing the Beta anyway, but unlike the Beta, where there was, an admittedly menial, but also very attainable way to earn for characters consistently just by playing the game, they've engineered the progression system to push you towards the paid currency to unlock them.

None of that is an actual scam though.

Okay well don't be a faggot redditor arguing semantics on this, you know what "scam" is implying in this context, it's a f2p game with aggressive monetization baked in to the most basic aspects of a platform fighter like this (unlocking a large and varied roster of characters).

I certainly think the modern AAA approach to a f2p game like this is a scam of a kind. Imagine if TF2's monetization was based around you buying classes instead of a hat? Don't you think gating essential features behind either an unrealistic grind or a convenient one time payment to be scammy?

Well, don’t be a whiny bitch faggot and claim something it isn’t just because you’re mad about the way it’s implemented. You still don’t HAVE to spend money on the thing, and it’s not hard to unlock a pool of characters just from playing the game.

And no, considering you can buy them with in-game currency(even if it takes some grinding) while give a small selection of the characters to try for free on a rotating bases is not a scam. It may not be entirely player friendly, but calling it a scam is retarded.

You are the reason the games industry keeps upping the ante with these aggresive monetization systems, and why it will get much worse than this game's terrible model. Not taking it further with you, you're arguing like a redditor defending a massive corporation jewing players.
