I wonder how much of the tomgirl clothing she helped pick out

Well, she is the epitome of fashion, so probably most of it.
Yikes.

my father was ashamed of the way I acted, and he would later still be angry at recalling the moment.

I wonder if this was the first hint to Bob that his spawn was no special snowflake but a dirty slushball? The aspie behavior may have been cute as a kid, but seeing him act up this way as an adult was just creepy. Kind of like when baby chimps are cute but eventually grow up to be face-ripping death machines.

I like the dichotomy there. Barb, pure 80s in her multicolored-Day-Glo windbreaker, and Bob, the very embodiment of every stereotypical old man ever with his thick rimmed glasses, high khakis, and button up plaid shirt under a handsome cardigan. It's almost artistic, in a way.

The first one we know of. I have to imagine Bob was trying to goad Chris into acting a little more manly for at least much of his time in high school. He strikes me as the type of dad who wouldn't be happy that his 15- or 16-year-old son was petting toy ponies and doodling Sonic recolors while his peers were playing sports and dating girls.

This kind of makes me wonder if Chris purposely neglected to invite any male friends from high school (if he had any,) to his 18th birthday party in order to prove to Bob that despite the Sonic recolors, Legos and My Little Ponies, that he was a "ladie's man" and into age-appropriate things.

Such as Pokemon picture/coloring books, and Good Burger.
