Was feminism always about "equality"?
No. The entire point of feminism is, has always been and will always be for women who are too ugly, too fat and/or too insufferable to attract a man that would protect them and provide for them, to seek said protection and provision from the state. With the welfare- and police state in place you can be as fat, as ugly and as bitchy as you want because as long as you have a man's taxpayer money you need the rest of him like a fish a bicycle. In other words: Feminism is the OG femcel movement.

Equality, or to be more specific gender equality, is what feminists used to justify why women should get the same rights as men, but absolutely none of the responsibilities that come with them. However, it did come back to terribly bite them in the ass as they're now getting their shit pushed in by trannies, because if you believe that men and women are truly equal and thus gender being merely superficial, then you have no arguments against treating trans women as real women.

Feminism would be a funny punchline if the taxpayer wasn't forced to humour it.
