Special Containment Procedures: SCP-WATA-███ is to be contained in a refrigerated, humidity-controlled chamber at Site-19, lined with high-absorbency sponges to prevent anomalous leakage. All interactions must be conducted via remote manipulators, and any personnel exhibiting prolonged smiling in the presence of SCP-WATA-███ are to be escorted for psychological evaluation. Testing requires Level-3 clearance and a minimum of two armed guards present. Under no circumstances is SCP-WATA-███ to be exposed to live music, specifically upbeat summer songs, as this has been shown to trigger unpredictable growth and replication events.

Description: SCP-WATA-███ resembles a large, oblong watermelon with a green rind patterned in shifting pink-white glyphs. The object emits a faint scent of mint and ozone, even when sealed. When a human sees SCP-WATA-███’s “face”,a vague, smile-like pattern formed by natural rind markings they will begin smiling uncontrollably, often to the point of facial strain or jaw injury. Subjects describe an overwhelming sense of joy and “a feeling like being at the perfect picnic.” Prolonged exposure (over 15 minutes) induces auditory hallucinations of a chorus chanting in harmony. Within three hours of exposure, affected individuals begin speaking cryptic riddles about “smugness” and “potato chips,” even without prompting.
