Yeah totally. I made a community happenings post about it and I think people didn't fully understand the joke that I was implying, all I was doing was reporting on the situation and all I said was:

In an important internet cultural development, clippers on k-farms had grown tired of people like Sir Moist Critical and other "documentarians" using the Farms as a source and ripping off their clips without attribution to the farms. This had grown into such a pestilence that videos are now uploaded with creative watermarks saying "nigger" (thereby making it impossible for mainstream YouTubers. Reddit & others to use the clips).
These have now affectionately been given the name "niggermarks" by @Catboy Ranch Dressing...

Just because one user stated their belief about it (which was probably sarcastic/hyperbole anyway) doesn't mean there is any actual movement to make it site wide. The entire reason I included that quote was because it was peak ridiculous level about the whole thing and therefore made it funnier - the fact the sloptuber at hand in all this thinks the entire KF is now going to literally niggermark everything makes it even funnier.

This thread (which I didn't start) and all of its contents have been worth it, and have been extremely funny to watch. This GIF in specific was the funniest development I've seen of this whole thing:

No, definitely not. It was sort of just meta-reporting on a Kiwifarms "cultural development". It isn't my place to say whether something should become standard or not and in the case of niggermarks it only really works for someone like bossmanjack.

Even the way I wrote it contained some ridiculous in-jokes such as "Sir Moist Critical" (which is how DSP addressed Moist when he made a video about DSP).

There's a billion other threads on here which have either way less or way more activity and it'd be impossible to police/enforce unless ooperator actually set up a server-side script or some shit.

It's an interesting story though in general about the role Kiwifarms plays when it comes to sloptubers/"documentarians" and how much credit the place gets. I often copy screenshots people on Twitter make of DarksydePhil for instance but I generally always credit them... but at the same time, it's like "congrats, you contributed by hitting print screen".

There are some documentary makers that put an immense amount of effort in to shit and do credit the farms (such as the 4.5h documentary about DSP by Joon the King). Then there are those that put way less effort in. I guess its just an interesting discussion about whether or not those people leech off of KF.
 
Damn it, I could have had use of this years ago, the day Marty made Cyraxx scream like a bitch, everyone took my clip of that without crediting me...

Imagine if every classic Chris video had a troll's username or niggerfaggot obnoxiously bouncing around on it. Or if footage of historical events had some media corp's logo slapped over it. It takes away from the entertainment. And it takes away from the archival value.

If we are going to use watermarks, I think marking media with a Kiwifarms logo or site URL is a better solution than just spamming nigger.
While content creators will bitch and moan about both, crediting the Farms for information is less risky than posting a video with nigger plastered all over it.
Some will throw hissyfits and stop covering lolcows, but most won't. They'll be forced to suck it up and cite the evil keewee farms for their information. They get to make content, and we get properly recognized. Acknowledging Kiwi Farms as a source might become more normalized. Lolcow content will get shared outside of the farms. Which will draw more people to the Farms itself.
Watermarking all content with nigger just means that it never leaves the Farms, people don't find out about the content, and the forum becomes stagnant and decays.
Using the Kiwi URL forces content creators to voluntarily buckbreak themselves to us so they can get that sweet youtube money. Using nigger is just flipping the table in petty rage.

Actually this changes my take on the whole situation. The fact that he tried so hard to get his stupid video not to show the watermark killed me.

I still think it's dumb to unite under this as a sitewide tradition, that's some Soyjak shit. But for the golden clip that only gets recorded by one Kiwi, it's pretty funny.
 
It's stupid. Watermarking is faggot shit. Are the youtubers subhuman leeches? Yes but who gives a shit? This is like someone else in the thread said "reddit shit". "NOOO THEY'RE STEALING MY HECKIN CONTENT!!!!". If you care that much then make your own sloptube.

It totally is. In the long term it's probably better to use the KF logo or URL as a watermark but in the short term it's extremely funny to plaster NIGGER in the middle of a clip to spite retards who will probably condemn the site in the same breath they talk about some lolcow who's entire thread they're reading for a 3 hour video.
 
If this just turns into a gay thread about watermarking for le epic internet credit and "advertising the site to normalize our presence" this site is officially gay as fuck and you are all redditors.
