BreadTube is a community of left-wingers who make videos with a left-wing slant, typically revolving around media (over)analysis through such a perspective. This community has produced notable cows like Vaush, ContraPoints and PhilosophyTube. While all those figure proved notable enough for their own threads, there exists a plethora of wannabes and other detritus that do not meet such standards, and luckily there is a thread for them and for general discussion of BreadTube:
I am a regular of this thread and enjoy reading about and discussing the various happenings in this community, but lately there has been an issue with this thread. It is now almost entirely about a situation that is only tangentially related to BreadTube and is entirely deserving of its own thread, but the people who discuss this situation are unwilling to actually make a thread about it. As such they are hampering discussion of the thread topic.
This began when a YouTuber by the name of Chuggaconroy (who is a let’s player who does not make BreadTube style videos), was accused of sexual harassment by a tranny named Lady Emily, who is a piece of the BreadTube detritus that the thread was made to represent. This post was featured on the front page, which quickly drew discussion and attention to the thread. As it happens, this became the sole thread topic for the next couple pages. Furthermore there were continuous updates to the situation, such as Chugga’s friends throwing him under the bus, which made the discussion even longer. What normally happens in such a situation is that someone decides that the drama has outgrown the parent thread and decides to make a thread about the general drama or on one of the parties involved. That did not happen in this case for whatever reason. The Chuggaconroy drama continued to be the sole topic of discussion for quite a while. It isn’t the best metric, but going based on page numbers, the initial post about the situation was page 676, and page 700, 710, 720, 730 all talked about the Chuggaconroy situation in the first 5 pages of the thread. By 740 discussion had resumed to being about the thread topic, likely because the Chuggaconroy situation had died out, but there were still intermittent posts about Chugga. On page 745 an update to the situation happened when Chugga released a response document to the allegations. This was posted to community happenings. Since then the Chugga situation is once again the main subject of discussion, and has severely hampered the ability to discuss events in the general BreadTube sphere. I will reiterate that the fact that this situation, one that many people evidently care about, has not been spun off into its own thread is practically unprecedented in the Farms.
This fact alone would be an issue, but compounding it is the fact that many of the posts since the drama has been reinvigorated have been repetitive and lacking in substance, typically basic bitch sentiments like “I feel bad for Chugga”, “I hate his friends for betraying him”, and “I hate the tranny for falsely accusing him”. When I made a post expressing my annoyance at the hijacking of the thread, and my displeasure at the repetitive comments, it was met with derision by the people interested in the Chugga situation. It was not my first post expressing such a sentiment, but when I had made the first post (prior to the reinvigoration of the drama), I was assured that ”the drama period is effectively over”. This post did not age well.
The solution I propose is that a thread be created on the general drama with Chuggaconroy (@Neil might be a good OP because he made the excellent initial post about the situation and its reposting to Community Happenings), and preferably the jannies go in and sweep up the posts in the BreadTube thread about the situation and repost them to the new thread. I admit I am doing this solely because what little interest I had in the Chuggaconroy situation has thoroughly evaporated and I want regular discussion about general topics in BreadTube to resume, but this outcome is also good for the people who are interested in the situation. This is because having a general place to congregate would make discussion of that topic easier and a proper OP would give newcomers to the situation a good run down. This outcome would be good for both parties.
TL;dr: Chuggacels need to stop shitting up the BreadTube thread and make a proper fucking thread to discuss the Chuggaconroy drama instead of hijacking the BreadTube thread like a parasite.
