We have to talk about you faggots not being able to figure out thumbnails

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I asked them about this. They don't have a problem with valid reports. Continue to report posts.

Difference is, with unarchived stuff, you can help out yourself by making a post and doing the deed, helping to take some workload off of them. You have no ability to shrink some other person's images in his posts or combine two posts together. This is solely their jobs to do and the only thing you can do is point it out.

OK, I watched the tutorial and read through the whole thread ... and I still don't know how to spoiler an image so it doesn't show as an attachment. Could somebody please gift me with this forbidden knowledge?

Spoilers are made with spoiler bbcode. This:
Code:
[SPOILER="nigger"]nigger[/SPOILER]
Turns into this:
nigger
However images showing up as attachments has nothing to do with spoilers. You need to embed them in your post to get them to not show up as attachments, anywhere works but they just need to be embedded, doesn't matter if it's in a spoiler.

I've been on the forums long enough to run into plenty of situations where users ran into information, or a previous person reappeared, and nobody made archives in that moment, or had made archives in the past. There is literally no point to reporting someone over this. The moment that user is being posted about in public, there is now a countdown to the moment they DFE. Trying to sit there and report people over not archiving is time wasted when you should be doing it.
Should they have? Sure, but it's infinitely more productive to quickly get to work archiving and call them a dumbass when you finish. It's a community/team effort.
I've reported plenty of posts. I've even reported myself in the past because I didn't have an edit button or didn't notice an error until a few hours later, and it's never been a problem. You might get called a dumbass at some point but if you're being called out like this, it's probably on you.

It's nice to think people can come together as a community and work together to do shit. But in practice, it turns out that's not the case. At least 70% of the people on this site don't archive at ALL. And I'm not making it my unpaid job to either report or archive 100+ times a day I come across this and other rule violations.

If you really want that level of rule adherence. Hire 50 reddit jannies with Mao complexes and watch them destroy the site.

Thank you for the info.

Now: "embed". What is that exactly? The post box has a toolbar button to add a photo, and there's also an "attach files" button at the bottom. Is one of these "embed" and the other not? Or is CTRL+P "embed"?

It's when you click "insert" on an attachment in the post editor (above "attach files"). Don't use anything else.

Nigger mentality, and also fairly untrue.

Nigger reading comprehension too. I just explained how it isn't the mods jobs to police this shit. You're the one throwing reports around, from your own admission. If you want things to be better, then put in the work and encourage others to do so rather than throwing around reports.

Okay. I think I figured out the problem.

I insert the image. It shows up in the post, and also below the post. I delete the copy of my image that appeared in the post. Now I put the SPOILER tags into my post and position the cursor between the tags. I mouse over my image, underneath the post box, and click "Insert", then "Thumbnail". So far, so good.

imageedit_66_2454075557.png

Now I hit "Preview". And my image is properly spoilered. And this is where I've been getting confused: a copy of the image where I selected insert/thumbnail is still showing under the post box in Preview. Because of the way this looks in the preview, I assumed it would show under my post. But actually, it won't.

Sorry for the long-winded stupidity, but surely some future idiot will come along with the same issue.

Do stuff normal users can't do. Like deleting posts, or resizing images (the very thing this thread is about), or banning a user. What's so hard to understand?

This is specifically what I'm confused about:

it isn't the mods jobs to police this shit.
put in the work and encourage others to do so rather than throwing around reports.

So... mods don't police shit. And don't report to mods. Okay we don't need mods then.

I was horrified to get a message from Null about me not using thumbnails since I always make sure to use them. Apparently the new quote/reply to feature seems to convert thumbnails in the highlighted message into images (which is a shame because I love this new feature). I'm sure it has something to do with the copy-paste problem that has been discussed to death in this thread. I don't know if there is a way of resolving it without resolving the whole copy-paste problem, but at least you can be aware of it.

pic related, the first block is from me replying to a message using the button, the second is from me replying to the same message by highlighting it.

I'm going to just cut images out of my responses until this is fixed I think. I'm loving the new quote and reply features personally.
