UK Wearing second hand clothes ‘an example of white privilege’, students told

Wearing second-hand clothes without this being blamed on “the bad morals of my race” is an example of white privilege, students have been told in a compulsory diversity course.

The University of Kent has instructed every student to complete the four-hour mandatory module, covering topics such as white privilege, microaggressions and pronouns.

The course, titled Expect Respect and seen by The Telegraph, includes a white privilege quiz where participants are asked to pick which of 13 options are societal benefits allegedly enjoyed by white people in the UK.

If the student ticks all 13, a gold star is awarded, and if not, a button appears directing them to retry.

One white privilege example listed is: “I can swear, or dress in second-hand clothes, without having people attribute these choices to the bad morals, the poverty or the illiteracy of my race.”

Other examples include “I can go shopping without being followed or harassed”, being sure of having “neutral or pleasant” neighbours and “I can do well in a challenging situation without being called a credit to my race”.

Scottish teachers have recently been urged to take a “white privilege test”, seen below:

The course on students’ moodle webpage also claims systemic racism is “built into the very building blocks of British society”, including schools, courts and churches.

It adds that some ethnic minorities engage in “white ideology” to benefit from the power “whiteness” brings.

Lecturers have been told in an internal email: “We expect all students, regardless of programme, level or site of study, to complete the module.

“It introduces students to the culture and expectations we have at Kent in terms of respectful behaviour and discussion, and also helps to increase students’ awareness and understanding about a variety of different themes and nuances in relation to equality, diversity and inclusivity.”

Staff have also been emailed by faculty managers to consider adding trigger warnings to exam papers, and carry out “pronoun checks, make a note of them and use them correctly” when meeting new students, such as they/them or ze/zir.

Philistine and irresponsible

However, it has sparked a backlash from professors, who told The Telegraph they are refusing to comply and branded it a “philistine” betrayal of academia’s core values.

“I’ve said I’m not going to do it (add trigger warnings or decolonise reading lists) and I'm not going to tell students to do this module either,” said Ellie Lee, a professor of family and parenting research at Kent, adding “quite a lot” of colleagues had followed suit.

“Encouraging people in the academy to narrow their field of reading and narrow students’ reading seems to me to be simply philistine and irresponsible. Students are being instructed through this module that there is a correct way of thinking.”

Prof Frank Furedi, a sociologist at Kent and author of 100 Years of Identity Crisis, criticised the “thought policing” move, adding: “There’s a danger of promoting conformism on campuses under the guise of education that you indoctrinate people into woke dogma.”

A Kent spokesman said the module was "supporting everyone to ensure all members of our community are treated with dignity and respect".

The craziest part of it all, for me, is that it’s a ‘have your cake and eat it, too’ situation. Yeah, no shit that societies built by and for white people may not be sensitive to the needs of nonwhites. Who cares? Those same nonwhites could easily move back to their ancestral homelands.
But they won’t, because even with ‘microaggressions’ and ‘systemic racism’, white society is still a better place for them to live. People vote with their feet and it’s not white people’s responsibility to change their culture and society to make it more comfortable for outsiders who choose to live in it.
It’s just yet another flavor of the White Man’s Burden.

What is it with thrift stores being so special?

The fat acceptance movement bitches about this too. If a normal sized person buys some 5XL tent and turns it into a nice looking outfit, the whales will screech that she's stealing clothes from fat people that "don't have many options."
I thought thrift stores and reuse of objects was supposed to be green? I'm sensing more and more a conflict of interest between CRT and environmentalism. Like eventually they're going to just come out and say that being green minded is privileged as well.

I have literally never seen someone blame someone else's wearing of second hand clothes on any of those things though.

I'm the fucking whitest of whites and I used to get followed all the time when I went shopping because I had a skinhead and a hoodie and carried a backpack instead of carrier bags.

They're (((white)))

Reminds me of this, except it's getting even more retarded these days.

How would you even know they were secondhand unless someone told you? It makes no sense.

There is a subset of whole politics that is angry that wypipo can afford to be ‘green’, as developing economies tend to have greater demands for energy and resources.
It’s seen as whites slamming a green door in the face of poorer countries.
Of course those same countries’ economic development is more greatly harmed by corruption and shitty governance, but let’s not talk about that.

In any case, this complaint is not about it being a privilege to wear second-hand; it’s about the privilege to do so and not be judged for it.

One white privilege example listed is: “I can swear, or dress in second-hand clothes, without having people attribute these choices to the bad morals, the poverty or the illiteracy of my race.”
Except people do judge poor white people all the time. Where do you think labels like redneck, hillbilly, or white trash came from?

Where's the questions:

"Do you like Tea?" or;

"Are you only quizzed about privilege because you have the right skin color?"

How would you even know they were secondhand unless someone told you? It makes no sense.
The point is not to know if it is or not, the point is to bash White people for existing. It's like a tamer form of genocide, keep pushing reasons White's are bad and then when you built up a huge list (If they do/if they don't IE: wear new clothing: privilege, or if they don't : privilege ) then you can justifiably assault them or remove them by force with the agreement of normies abound who can't backpaddle at that point because up until that extreme point they were on board with it. Same way when people ask "Why move into white countries if you hate them so much?" You don't have to hate them once you forcibly breed them out or remove them.

It's going to take a lot of work moving people toward a society where it will be acceptable to finally answer the Negro Question. Luckily, the incoming Master Race that is replacing whites has no compunctions against doing what must be done.
That's how I see it, the whiners better enjoy it while they can, because they will eventually have the Chinese lodge their foot firmly up their ass once they are in charge, and all the fun and games will be over.

Being able to stand at a street corner without the niggas on the opposite side pulling their glizzies is the whitest of privileges.
If the ED, I can't tell you how many times I have heard the story "I was just standing on the street corner... going to church/going to see my grandmother/etc..."

Hnnng, oh fuck I love being white so much. I can feel the power of whiteness coursing through my veins!
Ah, so that's what He-Man meant when he raised his sword and said "I Have The Power!" He was talking about white power. Cool.

I dont understand this stupid shit, EVERYONE i fucking know that had a older brother/sister has had second-hand clothes growing up.
Exactly. Everyone did it, but it is only a problem if white people did it. And white people do it, so it's a problem. Because white people have privilege. And privilege makes you racist. And what do we do with racists? We exclude them from society and make sure they're second-class citizens, to be bred out of the gene pool and replaced.

Remember, boys and girls...

Living in a trailer park on the wrong side of the tracks is white privilege because you don't live in a ghetto.
Going to school at a school with bad heat and 30 year old textbooks and no computers is white privilege because blacks aren't jumping on the desks like chimps
Working 10 hours a day to afford a shitty one bedroom apartment for you and your wife is white privilege because you can find a job and aren't on welfare
Fighting your way through college is white privilege because you were able to get some meager loans and survive off of Top Ramen and wishes while working 30 hours a week.
Struggling and saving money is white privilege because you didn't blow your EBT and money on fast food, rims, and shit.
Wearing thrift store clothes to college and your shitty menial job as well as your wife and kids wearing second hand clothing is white privilege because white people just assume you're a loser
Showing good work ethic is white privilege because you aren't a lazy piece of shit
Being reliable is white privilege because... ooga booga
Busting your hump so your kids have it better than you is white privilege because you and your wife stayed together even when shit was rough and neither one of you were a single parent.
Getting your kids into college by helping them through the system and passing them $20 now and then is white privilege because you didn't abandon your kids like a fucking animal.
Learning to live within your means with delayed gratification is white privilege because Bix Nood
Finally being out of the rat race, having something to pass down to your kids when you go, and being a positive influence on society is white privilege because of gibsmedat

These people can fuck right off.

Hnnng, oh fuck I love being white so much. I can feel the power of whiteness coursing through my veins!
AWWWW YEAH. FEEL THAT WHITE POWER FLOW, BABY!

I thought thrift stores and reuse of objects was supposed to be green?
OK you just gave me an idea. I think there's something here but I'm not quite certain I've disentangled it yet, but imagining the smug rich green type gave me a thunk.

So. Thrift shops need to get supplied from somewhere. So the stores near rich and generous people will have better inventory, and the stores that get looted can't last.

Maybe they have some kind of mental connection between thrift stores and privilege because the real shit holes can't support thrift stores. Really really poor people in really really bad neighborhoods can't thrift.
.
Not sure why they think the people who buy second hand are privileged instead of mediocre though...

Still a very confusing claim they're making, but it really feels like proximity to the privileged is a relevant variable here, possibly with a hint of "you should be grateful to have the chance to kiss my boots".

Unless it’s clearly quality vintage, which isn’t going to get a critical glance no matter who is wearing it, how in the world would anyone know you bought it in a thrift store? Jeans you bought retail two years ago don’t look any different from jeans somebody else bought retail two years ago that you bought at Goodwill last week.

I still don't get why whitey's house is supposed to be a public toilet for all to shit on, meanwhile everyone else's house is meant for them and them alone, and if you find yourself there, you are a guest and should remember it...

The world will attain utopia when we send every lawyer and Jew into the sun.

The person who wrote that has never been poor.

Kids wearing second hand clothing in school get constantly bullied.
Yeah, but only because that's an easy target, if the same kid showed up in new designer clothes, the same bullies would hound them for being a "Preppy"

Bullying is a person looking for a weak spot, ANY weak spot, to get at another person, progressives have this persistent fantasy that bullies are victims too and can't help but be set off by the "provocative" behaviors of their victim, who isn't really a victim since having that weak spot means "they started it!"

And race grifters are the same, it all boils down to "Why did you make me hit you?" level thinking in the end which is why all "Darn you white people and your X thinking" is so darn intellectually corrupt, it follows the same pattern: A person just walking down the street minding their own business can be ethically and morally jumped and beaten for making YOU, personally, so ANGRY you just HAD to with their obvious racisms from wearing the wrong shirt..... you should've known not to wear that shirt.... no, forget about the ethics of beating a person in public who never even noticed you were there... it's all the fault of those racist clothes..... you, the clothes wearer, have to DO BETTER.
