Majory story re: Vic @ 1230 Central on Rackets live stream.
Somehow this seems appropriate

What happened with Chuck? He turned on Vic?
He publicly supported Marchi on twitter but apparently is still friends with Vic. Oddly Todd also seemed to toss Vic under the bus while privately he and Vic were friendly enough for attorney introductions.

I think an apology and/or retraction would HAVE to be part of it. I don't think Vic is doing this for the money. I think he's doing this in an attempt to repair some of the damage to his career.
One of the things Vic says at con panels often is that he'd rather make $30k doing a job he loves than $300k doing a job he hates. So a cash settlement probably wouldn't mean much to him if he just wants to continue working.

Ok, if someone has accepted the retraction, who do you guys think folded?

MarzGurl maybe.

She can't fucking withstand a lawsuit. I doubt she could even put up more than token resistance. And by token, I mean she'd just whine at Ty.

But I can't check that because she has me blocked.

Oops. I'm blocked now too. I guess just responding to Nicks tweets gets one on the wrongthink list.

Funi and/or RT. I have a hard time believing the higher-ups are as personally invested in this culture war battle as the Twitter Personalities and can see that the fanbase at large is rejecting the #MeTooing, so they started angling for settlement as soon as the paperwork came in.

But again, I might be being :optimistic: here.

Another possibility is this isn't necessarily good news. Might not be bad, but it could just be interesting or "neutral." There's also that bullshit with Shane to consider.

If it's just that stupid click-bait thing about the GFM, I'm gonna be pissed. That ain't major news. I'm not even sure it's true.

Which seems more plausible based on what that the little bird told you?

Okay off-topic question to anyone who might know, what is the criteria of meeting the standard of 'shithouse con?'
Oh cool a subject I can sperg out on. RogerDodger already pointed out their venue looks like a sad Midwestern strip mall out of a dead mall Youtube video. Some other red flags.
  • Their chair is a fucktard.
  • Their GoH aren't really crowdpleasers. Getting side characters from the English dub of Goblinslayer isn't going to bring people in, especially since they seem to be on Twitter pandering to dangerhairs who flipped their shit over Goblinslayer. Even as a first year con they should be able to negotiate SOMEONE from a current trendy anime or video game, get a side character from MHA or something.
  • Their ticket prices and tables are cheap. Normally that's a good thing for a first year con but 2 days at an anime con for 10 bucks and 100 bucks for artists/200 bucks for dealers is way too cheap to the point it's fishy. Either they have some eccentric billionaire funding it or they're idiots at money, especially since they're pulling a charity angle.
  • Not much info on this con period. How the hell is this a "choose your own adventure" con? Are there any other events like dances, cosplay contest, game tournaments, something? Even seven months out from the con they should have something.

I'll join kickvic's attempt to have him disbarred if this is just clickbait. I'm sick and giving up sleep for this shit, it better be good.

I definitely think that this is going to be new info that we have not heard of before. If for whatever reason it's not, I'll tune out.

If you log out, you should be able to check her posts. She has me blocked too and logging out fixes that issue.

The little bird said that Shane is "trying to get ahead of" (exact words) news that would be released soon. That was earlier today. This might be that news.

So, I mean, that could mean anything.

It could mean that Shane thinks he knows something that would be a "gotcha" for Nick (not understanding that Nick already knows far more than him, and Shane is too stupid to understand what a gotcha would be). Or, it could mean that some news is gonna come out that would be bad for KickVic side and Shane is looking to run damage control.

Naturally, I'm hoping for the later.

It COULD be a smoking gun that Nick hinted at last week about VAs colluding to ban Vic from conventions. That would be fun. It would also be of relevance to Shane.

That last one would be interesting. IIRC that was the one where Nick wanted to name a name?
