Red light therapy definitely works for weight loss and I'm beginning to understand why. It also works immediately, as I'm down 2.5 pounds from a week ago after trying it. No other changes. Not exercising (just typical housework), and maybe a diet soda instead of a regular soda here and there, but I still have has a regular soda and I have even had some candy/chocolate.

Red light therapy has been shown to lower blood glucose levels significantly. Source
You don't need any special setup or a lot of time. 15 minutes a day every day can help you. You don't need a special $1000 unit to achieve this. This is especially helpful for people with insulin resistance, pcos, and more achieve weight loss and it's definitely helping me. If everything stays as it has been, I should be a healthy BMI tommorow. No starving, no stressful diet changes, completely easy. I'll incorporate working out soon again and I'm sure it'll just amplify all of this plus increase recovery.

Blood glucose levels lower for people without insulin sensitivities as well. So if you think this won't help you because you don't have this, I implore you to try anyways. Lastly, I'm pretty sure it would help diabetics but because I'm not a doctor and don't know what meds you're on I'd probably talk to them before trying just in case.

I do feel like I’ve finally cracked the code. I’ve tried a lot of diets over the years and this is the first thing that has given me fast results I can stick to. Keto was a pain and it didn’t make me lose as much as I hoped. I’m mainly focusing on whole foods, a lot of fruit, vegetables and salad. I am also trying to get more protein than normal. I’m not even calorie counting on this which is crazy. I despise calorie counting, I end up becoming obsessed with it and food and ironically end up eating more.

Pardon me for updating so much I'm just super hype about this red light. I think I miscalculated what my weight needs to be before I'm a healthy bmi, I still have a pound to go. Every day I have lost some weight though, ranging from .25 of a pound to almost a pound. Additionally, I just started my period but have still lost weight every day. This is unheard of for me, even when dieting/exercising usually for the whole week of my period it would neither be a gain nor a loss. Regardless of my actual weight, I have lost 3 pounds total in exactly a week of this red light panel now, which is thrilling. I will continue this indefinitely, and feel more confident than ever I can maintain an even lower bmi for the first time ever.

Before, once I hit about 22 bmi my weight would slowly begin climbing up again, never really hitting below a 22. Now, I think I could maintain that no problem but we'll see how low I can get it now.

Edit: I'll go ahead and share my supplement stack for any curious, as I believe those could be contributing to this as well. I take a few for thyroid health, like a b complex, thiamine and magnesium. I take inositol and collagen for pcos reasons. Additionally, I take vitamin C and biotin + a multivitamin with some vit D/iron.

248 > 245.

Did 6 24 hour fasts in a row this week. What Im really wondering is how much of that is muscle as this week was also a rest week.
You will lose muscle if you aren't eating enough bioavailable protein with your normal diet (protein powder, meat etc)

This is why you see a lot of sarcopenic vegans/fruitarians, because they aren't eating enough bioavailable protein

Alright, almost 2 weeks and I haven't lost more. I decided to drink alcohol and was having 2 sodas a day for a few days, so my weight went up slightly and then back down. I believe I found the limitations to the red light only weight loss method. Basically I can eat somewhat normally to lose weight, but I can't go crazy with junk food/snacks. Still, I haven't been hungry much at all on days prior to weight loss days, and my hunger is alot different. I'll explain some benefits:

Hunger- my hunger prior to RLT was a very sharp, urgent hunger. I felt weak, uncomfortable, and hard to ignore. I HAD to eat, and I had to do it soon. Now, I can go 6hrs+ without eating even a snack, and be still kicking just fine. That's helped alot, because if I want to lose weight I can simply have a smaller meal or snack for dinner, then wake up and have lost weight without fail, even with a soda, food out, or snacks/treats included during the day. Before I'd have to eat like 1000 calories to get this level of weightloss. Now I don't count calories and do it intuitively.

Also some other benefits I've noticed is my energy level is up, naps are much more rare. Additionally, my mood is better and my social anxiety is less. It's a big difference to me, as social situations where I'd be more reserved or tired I'm cracking jokes or talking to new people easier. Finally acne, unfortunately nothing there yet, partially perhaps due to diet but I have a massive breakout rn, maybe the worst I've ever had. I heard something about the RLT bringing up old acne to the surface before purging it so I figure that is what's going on and I'm still hopeful. Overall, absolutely worth the 40 bucks (but 30 secondhand)

This is true regardless of the red light therapy. Possible you're having a placebo effect.

Nah if you knew how I've lost weight in the past you wouldn't be saying this. Before, if I wanted to lose even a pound a week I'd have to have 0 sodas, 0 high cal treats, religiously count calories and starve all day to get food out PLUS exercise. There are well studied (double blind) results on rlt for weight loss, as well as on blood glucose which will effect weight loss even in healthy individuals. I have PCOS related insulin resistance which is why I think it is working so well for me. Additionally I've been using it on my thyroid which is very important for metabolism/weight maintenance.

If you have PCOS and insulin resistance, you should be eating minimal carbs anyway. Protein and fats will be keep you feeling full. You make it sound as if your body doesn't follow the law of thermodynamics, in which case, you need to be studied. Have you had your thyroid tested?

And high calorie treats on top of your normal food is of course gonna put you over your calorie limits, and of course you're feel like your starving if you cut out food to fit in something like that. You sound like you want your cake and to eat it too if you can't live without either calorie bombs or soda (and diet and sugar free sodas have no calories regardless). If you wanna lose weight, you're gonna have to sacrifice something and not rely on fad diets or gimmicks.

CICO isn't the only thing that matters to weight loss though, part of the "CO" is how your body processes those calories. Have you ever met someone with a high metabolism? Then it stands to reason some (or many!) have a low metabolism as well. Many things (like caffeine) can assist a metabolism.

I think you're pretending to know more about others weight loss than you do. I want to be able to not starve everyday and lose weight. See this? This SUCKED. It was before I had knowledge about metabolism and how to assist my BMR from pcos and family history of hypothyroidism.

I'm not sure why you seem so offended at the idea something that isn't pure CICO absolutism is working for me (or others) but it's just reality.

I don't want to go sub 30g of carbs a day, it made me feel like shit and gave me no energy to workout. I don't want to live life where I can't have a soda, some chocolate pretzels or food out anywhere to lose weight. Most don't either which is why extreme dieting doesn't stick for most people. I would think you'd welcome anything that makes it easier for people to lose weight.

I'm here to tell you high calorie (btw high calorie as in 200-300 cals total) treats/sodas have made me lose weight, or I wouldn't have gone down 3 pounds since starting RLT in 2 weeks of 0 effort. Ordinarily I would have maintained at best eating this stuff. Something is working better, whether you like it or not.

No, that's a myth.

I've lost 18lbs since the 1st by fasting five days a week, stop being a baby. See an endo and hit the gym, if you put as much effort into real gymnastics as you put into mental gymnastics you'd be a lot closer to your goal.

No, that's a myth.

Every available scientific literature disagrees with you.

Fasting extensively is very bad for metabolism. There is a reason people who diet for a long time hit a plateau, your body adjusts to the lower calorie amount because it thinks you are starving. This is another reason why crash dieting is bad.

Also I think you've completely ignored my points entirely on why it's helping. Hunger control is helped by red light therapy and having correctly working insulin is going to help as well

Using your brain for thinking does actually burn quite a few calories, maybe thats why I don't have to lose 18 pounds via starvation.

I will not be accepting further comments nor criticism on this from people who's BMI is above 25 and/or waking temp is below a 96 btw

I normally weigh once a month but weighed in my friend’s house a few days ago. I’m now 87kg, my heaviest was 105kg so I’m doing pretty well. I lost around 8kg in three years but the rest has been within the past few months.
