Weird Dreams Thread

Recently I dreamt I was in a field on a bright sunny day playing cards with a couple I didn't know when we saw a shooting star go by but it didn't fade into a the distance it just started slithering around in the air and began to look like a big fish as it followed a plane in the sky. It catches up and bites a chunk out of it causing a fiery explosion in the sky with debris falling down. So I hightail it out of there and suddenly I'm on a train full of people riding through the woods being evacuated while the sky is a full on warzone with these flying fish monsters and military planes and helicopters.

I keep dreaming about owls.
There are very worse things to dream about.

Actually that reminds me of a hypnagogic hallucination I had, probably the oddest. I "woke up," I was actually still asleep, and looked up and on the top of a bookshelf, there was a cat, with its face turned away. Then it turned around and had the head of an owl.

The instant I noticed this couldn't possibly be happening, I woke up for real and the thing puffed out of existence.

i had a dream that i cosplayed tretij rebenok for a con and the first thing i did when i woke up (which is now) was go "wheres my gas mask i gotta put it on)

i keep dreaming about being tretij. it's getting spooky

I had a really wierd one, I was playing some wwe game and the career mode for it was playing solely as the ultimate warrior. And it was just the ultimate warrior running around a museum. Then an optional mission popped up like fallout called "don't just shoot him" So Vince McMahon was obviously the end boss and after you kill him you can take over the wwe and keep Linda and Stephanie as trophies.

I just had a really cinematic dream where I was a teenager in some kind of juvie prison and I was with a group of guys who were planning an escape. They knocked out a councilor/guard with a pot or vase or something to the back of the head during lunch and everyone made a run for the door when suddenly a bunch of fat black chefs burst out of the kitchen and blocked the door. Then they just gave us a nod and let us pass.

I dreamt I met death in a starry abyss. He had marbles for eyes that were filled with glowy galaxies. He didnt utter a word and we watched the stars pass by together. It was actually relatively peaceful compared to the nightmares in which I feel physical pain I had nights prior.

I keep a dream log so I can remember them. I can't remember this one but this was my last one, according to what I wrote down it was.
"Wilam defoe
general from twink peaks
Anthony Fantano
garden mirror names 3k".

Last night I had a weird semi-lucid, waking dream combo thing. Anyways I was back at my parents' house sleeping in my old bed when the door opened by itself and a stuff teddy bear that was somewhere in the room got up and started walking out of the room. When I snapped out of it my neck and head were already raised up like I had been in the dream.

Anyone have any recurring themes in dreams? I think the worst I have is living in an entirely dead world, as in, there is nothing alive any more. At all. There are still some humans, and we're desperately trying to ignore that literally nothing exists any more.

Not super recent but this one stuck in my memory for good:

I had a dream that there was some protest in downtown Portland because sex workers were trying to unionize so I went down to watch. It was just a bunch of black ladies twerking and I joked to someone that it reminded me of a sims mod called “hoe it up”. One of the twerking black ladies walked up to me and said “I’m finna catch a trick right now” and pulled her panties off through her windbreaker pants. Instead of being super disgusted by that, I remember thinking that she had some crazy abs going. Anyway, I guess in the dream I was bored of this weird protest or whatever it was and was going to go to Golden Corral….I then realized “crap, I’m not wearing pants.” But then deciding it was ok bc I was wearing big underwear… get there and remember I have a giant maxi pad on which was super embarrassing and somehow that was too inappropriate to go in to the buffet.

I dreamed I was in a strange place I had never seen before, full of marbled halls and terracotta-tiled pavilions and outdoor verandas and such. Very neoclassical. Only there were multiple levels suspended in the air, each one hovering above the other by unknown means, a bit like the old Farlands from Minecraft.

And as I was strolling around, amazed and astonished at it all, I began to notice a recurring motif: every few rooms, there'd be a well, filled with water. And after I'd gazed down into several, I realized none of them were actually that deep, for sometimes I could see, vaguely in the bottom-most depths, the roofs and terraces of the next level down (often snatches of light as well, bouncing off some particularly reflective white marble or ornate fresco). And naturally, at that point it occurred to me "Wait if that's the next lowest level, then what the hell is holding the water in place? How has it not run out the bottom of these wellshafts long ago?".

So I began seeking eagerly for the bottom of a shaft running down from the previous level, the better to examine it and work out the mystery of these physics (at no time during my stay in this dream did I ever encounter two wellshafts between levels that were aligned or even very near one another). And eventually I did indeed find a shaft bottom, but incredibly as I looked up I discerned there to be no water in it! At first I believed this to simply be bad luck; obviously some of the shafts must not contain suspended liquid and I had simply had the misfortune of picking one my very first go. So I hunted about for more. And wouldn't you know it, every other shaft I came upon, even the ones I was rather certain I had gazed into the depths of on the previous level up, was completely devoid of liquid when viewed from the bottom!

At this point I simply stood there, gazing out over the gentle sunlit sprawl of this strange place (I could discern no lightsource yet it was perpetually lit with a cast of around 4:30 in the afternoon), amazed and bemused pondering these odd one-sided wells, when I suddenly wondered "Who could've built this strange place?" and no sooner had I thought this than a distinctly aristocratic, male, commanding voice came from behind me "That would be me". Before I could turn around to behold the speaker I woke up.

I recently had another weird elevator dream, but this one was more unique when compared to my usual elevator dreams.

The dream first started in what seemed to be my bedroom, but the scene quickly shifted to the hallway of a multi-story apartment building. Myself and two other people are waiting for an elevator to go down to the first floor. The first elevator never actually stops and the cab continues going down despite the outer doors opening up on our floor. The elevator next to it, however, actually stops. For whatever reason, this elevator is as small and narrow as my bedroom closet and it has two sets of doors: one that opens sideways and another set that opens up and down.

I entered the cab without issue, but the doors started to close right away as if the elevator only allowed one person in or out at a time. I quickly pushed the "Door Open" button to open the doors back up for the two other people, but every time I let go of the button, both sets of doors started closing again. Finally, one of the remaining two persons entered the elevator with me and the third person had to do some gymnastic somersault move to make it through both doors before they closed shut again. Meanwhile, I'm wondering who came up with such a stupid setup for an elevator in terms of the size and the door operation.

There's a few for me.
Some of them help me 'slip' into lucid dreams once I realize I'm dreaming, so I remember them quite vividly.

- Sometimes I dream of places I'm 99% sure I haven't ever seen in real life - but I always re-visit them in dreams. An old Italian-looking market. A big hospital. Some retail stores, flea markets etc. Those give me nostalgia in my dreams - for places I've never actually been to. It's weird.

- Visiting the beach and the sand is some weird kind of foam, not sand at all

- Weird public toilets, either too big for me, extremely hot & humid, dirty or with moist carpet all around

- Electronics not working properly, LED signs glitching out, phone lagging etc

- Unreadable books that only contain gibberish letters

- Not being able to drive a car as it's too big, heavy or doesn't react at all when I steer

- Public transportation being shaped weirdly (no seats, too many seats) or just simply flying somewhere by helicopter as if it's not a big deal

- Being forgotten by people close to me. Weeks pass and suddenly I remember them existing in the first place; I try calling them up or something and they just ignore my or it goes straight to voicemail

- Going on weird trips with former classmates and something always goes terribly wrong

- Being on a ship, it sinks and I somehow survive for days/weeks with other people down there.

... there's so many more, but I honestly don't want to shit up the whole thread.

I have a number of these, some of them loosely based on combinations of other buildings. A lot of these are infinite buildings where no matter where you go, there's more stuff. Parts of them are abandoned or deteriorating. One was a theater with an infinite number of stages, and some were live action, some were playing films, and some music concerts. Also sometimes they'd change in the middle, so something would start out as a film and turn into a play. Also you could mentally project your way into whatever was going on. The weirdest one was where I wandered into a nearly empty theater and watched myself die on stage.

Another is an old house that is supposedly somewhere I used to live, and similarly, parts of it are dilapidated and abandoned. Nobody else is ever in there so I just wander from room to room. The worst of these locations that I'm glad never shows up any more is a river. It's always dark and there's always something absolutely horrible happening somewhere in it. For instance, the clearest recollection I have is of two men killing another man by pouring molten gold down his throat (which is incidentally how Crassus was allegedly killed).

Constant, CONSTANT, dreams where my teeth are horrifically mangled. Not just the usual falling out. Like the roots are dangling out, I'm picking pieces of teeth out of the empty hole, trying to eat with them literally crumbling, trying not to swallow the bone bits or choke on blood. This all happens as I'm trying desperately to not panic, put things back in place and most importantly, not let anyone see or know. Sometimes I'll be walking around trying not to loose my teeth bits and my face will be all puffy and swollen, while the people around me either ignore it or get angry. These are such vivid dreams that when I wake up, I'm in genuine panic over my teeth. I can't believe that my teeth aren't the bloody, mashed up mess. Like it honestly confuses me and I think that my real teeth are the dream teeth and vice versa. It throws me off the whole day. I'll be eating or drinking and I'll flash back to a dream tooth breaking or whatever and I have to stop drinking/eating it unnerves me so much. Almost like I can taste the blood and feel the teeth breaking while drinking water, feel my teeth being swished around by the water. I have to keep reminding myself that it was just a dream and my reality teeth are fine. This fades after a day or two but I'll have random little flashes back to it. Like months later I'll be eating a granola bar and remember "oh yeah my teeth are a broken mess and this granola bar is destroying my mouth". It only lasts a second or two but again it puts me off whatever I'm consuming. These types of dreams have been happening since I was young.

Thanks for listening kiwis. Feels better to getting that out.

Pregnancy can cause weird dreams (I dream a lot regardless of pregnancy). But while pregnant I'd have dreams where I'd give birth to rocks lmfao weirdest shit ever. Had that dream a couple times.

I dreamed that I was with other people in China who were investigating prisoners who had angered the Chinese Communist Party and were being held incommunicado in oubliettes. We were trying to find out who and where they were, and talk to them. Naturally we were doing this against the will of the CCP and we had to be sneaky. The problem was that some of the prisoners were held to much higher security than others, and because of the secrecy there was no way to know which was which. Some of the prisoners were just at the bottom of a narrow concrete shaft several dozen feet deep, and you could just speak down the shaft. If you were caught, it wasn't usually a big deal as long as you played innocent and/or bribed the guards, who could really get quite chatty and as a result you would find out more than you would otherwise.

On the other hand, there were also some shafts hundreds of feet deep with part of the shaft filled with water and various tricky surveillance devices, and you would probably end up permanently disappeared if it was suspected that you were up to something, and the guards were not easy-going at all. As it turns out, we were investigating one of the latter type of oubliettes, and we were caught. And the guard did not seem to believe us at all. Unpleasant!
