$ Weird Youtube Crypto Scam Alert

Some random Youtube channel I was subscribed to with 1k subscribers has changed their name to Kanye West, and is now livestreaming to 3k with a sketchy as fuck QR and the chat locked down where he has posted some more sketchy crypto links. I know of no way to go back and check what the previous channel name is, as I didn't see it on the Wayback Machine.

Anyone with some more insight on what might be going on or what could be done about such a thing? If nothing else maybe even find out what the previous channel name was?

This happens all the time. YouTube channel gets hijacked, hopefully by a bad password only. All the videos get deleted, and the scam live stream runs, usually using old interview footage. I would assume the 3K viewers are bots, but maybe they just go viral by talking about the hot topic of the moment and pretending to be legit. I have seen Elon Musk and Johnny Depp previously.

Search the UCHH... URL string, and you see "ProdByTahj". Music channel?

Yea one of the Blacksmithing channels I follow had this happen to them recently, bad password allowed the account to be compromised and they deleted or renamed the videos and where trying to shill crypto and something else until the account got restored.

This sort of thing happened to Christopher Lees old channel the other day.

What happens is the Password is phished. Scammers send an e-mail saying the youtube account has been compromised and to reset their password using a fake form.
