Weirdest Tech error I've seen. - not a fag question

My imbecile cousin decided to play Gronkowski with my laptop and smash the monitor. Words were had. Point is, I've got damaged goods, but they work with an HDMI out. I could actually keep using the thing when plugged to an external monitor.

Out of nowhere, a few weeks later, neither firefox, nor MPC, nor well, just about any application would play sound. The thing would run just fine, just no sound. Videos would play, no sound. Running an HDMI out to an external monitor. But...Brave would play sound. Brave would play audio. For whatever reason, media run in Brave would play audio fine, but no other media would.

I did the usual mickey mouse shit like restart, check for updates, this, that, and whatever, nothing. No change. Only Brave browser worked. Only Brave. Only brave.

One day, out of nowhere, like three days ago, I chimped out and shoved the laptop's HDMI out into another HDMI input slot on my TV into a different slot. Lo and behold, every application is playing sound.

Ever seen anything like this? Gay/dumb stickers will fuel my apathy.

my only suggestions are, a) busted laptop (yes), b) busted HDMI input on monitor (no, but possible) , ..... idk. why so specific?

tl;dr busted laptop stops playing audio on certain programs. plays all on other hdmi inputs.

That would fall into the camp of busted HDMI input/output, but...I don't see how. This should carry over to other inputs on my external monitor. Again, my tard relative smashed the thing. That's the only constant.

Also I should say that sounds like a Treehouse of Horror thing.

It was a very nasty short circuit that happened, some wires crossed or some shit, took 3 electricians to fix that, the first two had no idea what the fuck was happening

Of course i'm talking about an electric shower

Reason i said this, is that since the notebook was struck, there might be damages in the electrical components
